Greetings from Oakland. I enjoy seeing bits of the whole adventure. The driving, the van, the hiking. You’re such a great storyteller that you make us, the viewers, feel that we’re along with you. Thanks!
Love everything, the intros, the driving, how you came to choose the destination for your adventure. You inspired me to get out doors 5 years ago and I still look forward to you posting a new video every week.
It’s not always the IMAGE…. It’s the journey and the story of getting out there! So, keep the stories coming our way and if you get a couple keepers, bonus for us!
It's not just the photoshoot, but the planning, camping hiking all are equally important to get that epic photograph. Always love the video that shows the effort and dedication of a Landscape photographer
Thanks Thomas, I appreciate and enjoy every bit of it. The drive up listening to your thoughts and plans. Eating a bar or drinking a brew. The walk up and back. The thinking and the equipment for just that one image. I’m learning the video. I’m a stills photographer. So I want you to immerse me in it all. The sleeping at home or in the van, whose squeaks you fixed. Thanks again for all that you do to help me!!!!!!
I know it's a lot more work for you - I really do enjoy seeing the whole story of the image. Driving, hiking, van fires, whatever the adventure is. I appreciate your storytelling, your humor and your humility. Keep making stories, you are too talented to not share it with the world.
Videos with stories of your journeys to take those photos add value to them. Experience is similar to reading a photography book. Thank you for your work.
Great Video, Thomas! Think what the viewers are want to see is Thomas going on his microadventure and the fun he feels from making plans, preparations, travel, camp, cook, scout, climb, fight the elements, see him over the shoulder making decisions out of the situation and getting touched be an unbeliebable beautiful solution he found for taking the photograph. After such a video, we want to be Thomas and go out for our next shoot. I am doing so for the last 4 years and feel great, even if I only manage to go out for an hour or so. Thanks for making this videos, Thomas! Folks, buy his book it is full of more adventure spirit! Cheers, Max
We just like YOU Thomas. We like to see your successes but also the realism in the times you can’t get a shot when the conditions are poor. Every photographer will experience that. If you are glass half full person you will always find something good about the experience. If nothing else lockdown surely has proven to us that we need to be grateful for just being able to get out there and experience life, nature and all the beautiful places we have in the UK
Personally I enjoy your preamble, your show and tell and explanation of what you’re doing and why, and the peacefulness of what you do and how you do it. Thanks! Your images are beautiful and serene.
Like the intro, van, hiking, photography and the story telling behind the scenes in getting those amazing images. The average 20 minute videos are awesome
It's not all about pressing the shutter button. Being out in the landscape and experiencing the atmosphere, the environment, light etc is the magnet that inspires people to get out for themselves. I really like your presentation style and how you put those elements over to people and I feel it is just as important as the guidance on taking a shot. Simply it's a case of keep up the good work. Thanks for another great vid.
I really like the intro with the traveling in the van and the walks. It is part of the adventure of going out to take photos. It is the real way a landscape photographer works. Keep up the great videos. Thanks
I think many of us are here not only for the pics, but for the process as well, your sentiments, the decisions, and thoughts behind the picture, love the van and camping stuff, adds a little spice on an already awesome content, and I must say my 15 to 25 minuttes with you, Mr Heaton, is a a small break from the the toils and trouble of the real world.
I like the process bits, the ridiculously early starts, the van, the maps, the checking the weather, the long hiking and the problems / disasters and the days everything just doesn't come together. I think it gives a much better picture of what the actual work entails, it's not just rock up to final location, whip out a tripod and take an awesome shot.
I concur with everyone who says that getting everything is way better; we've gotten to know you better and in that way there's more of a virtual friendship built up! And all your videos entertain us and is not a waste of time. Thank you for continuing to do these....
Story story story....that’s why I’ll always choose to watch your videos over the other dozens in my feed. The journey in life is always far more interesting than the result. Hate to say it but there are great landscape photos to be seen everywhere these days ... but there is only one Thomas Heaton toiling away at his craft, sleeping in his van and getting caught in storms...that’s real entertainment.
Personally, I love seeing the van clips, the hiking into the location, and seeing what things you think do and don't make a good photo. The whole experience is really nice :)
I love the whole process. The drive up or the waking up in the van, the whole story. I feel that's all part of the experience of going out on a shoot. Love your videos!
As most others have committed, I like to see the effort that goes into the shot and the efforts that don’t get shots. It keeps it genuine and it’s in keeping with your candor
I don't care what introduces us to the adventure. I don't care if you get awesome images, or none at all - it shows us what's normal and that we too experience normal. I love that you take us places, share experiences, share the joys and delights, as well as the frustrations and challenges. For as long as you're enjoying it, feel free to keep sharing what you do, however you want to.
Honestly mate, dont even worry about uploading videos where you don't get an image. It's more realistic and I think everyone will agree, your videos are brilliant with or without a successful shot at the end of the trip. I love living the journey with you throughout the weekdays, especially when I cant get out with the camera because of work 🙌👍
Hi Thomas, I'm from Russia I want to say thank you for your videos, a separate outlet for me. Special thanks for the subtitles You can make videos longer, routine, van and preparation is great! This is the point of watching you work. From preparation, life, process to the result and the perfect end of the day. It looks very nice as if your friend is talking about his photo trip. Shooting and editing, as always, are at their best. I vote for long videos with all the nuances of life. You turn on the video and realize that you will spend the next half hour with a pleasant person and look at his art. Thank you
Don't change much Thomas because you do give us a good combination of formats and lots of variety, I enjoy all aspects of your films. The human side you incorporate also adds lots of appeal In my view. Cheers.
You asked a question, do I like the normal wake up and walk in intro? big answer YES a great big YES, Intimate time sleepy you at rest time, see the world be at home, be alone time. This is your time this is real time, this is a fine time to be you, and to be with you, is a privilege. Thanks Tom, keep making me smile and dreaming of the hills. X
I agree with the Guy from Oakland, I enjoy the journey in the Camper the driving the arrival and when you stay overnight the food you take the hole package, you are very articulate and put the story over well, and your personality shines through, its all good whatever you do, Regards, Colin.
Love extra material and not only the photography. You always manage to make the videos interesting and keeping the storytelling going so I'd say a 20-30 min Heaton video is a Wednesday dream for me.
Like everyone else, the non-photography bits are great in my view. All that walking ahead, setting up the video camera, walking back and then retracing your steps (In the dark too!) is well worth it
I really enjoy the whole effort put in to making great photo. Intro with a van, bit of van life and the whole journey is just adding a bit of spice to the video but also inspire other enthusiasts not to give up if they don't come back home with good photographs. Keep it up with great job. Greetings from Croatia.
I enjoy all your videos, but I find the wandering in van, or the camping and hiking leading up to the actual photography is what really sets you apart from most UA-cam Photographers. You present such a realistic presentation of all that is involved and the nature of landscape photography. You show how much work it is, and how often you work hard and still don't get any amazing shots. I love that honesty and realism. I also think you do such an amazing job with the quality of your hiking footage and B-roll that I almost feel like I am along for the journey! My recommendation, keep doing everything you've been doing! I never miss a video!
Greetings from Finland. I love seeing the whole story: driving, the van, hiking AND the image. The whole story tells so much more and also teaches so much.
Carry on exactly like this, I appreciate your honest, open manner. It's just fun to accompany you on your photo tours. Thanks for the inspiration and helpful hints you give!
Thomas, I’m embarrassed to say I have never commented on your videos before, it is something I rarely get the time to do, but I must add to this thread. You are, without doubt a world class photographer and I learn so much from watching your videos, as well as thoroughly enjoying them. But, you are so much more besides. Your intros, sitting the van, brewing up etc are fantastic too. You are an excellent entertainer and story teller and I know I’m not the only one of your subscribers who would be devastated if you didn’t include us in that part of your process. In my opinion I think you have completely hit the right balance between photography and vlog style content. Please don’t change!
Hi Thomas, I love the narrative aspect of the videos - they really express what being a landscape photographer is about in a way that focusing solely on the photos would never do. That's not to detract from the quality of the images of course!
Love the trip to the location, please continue with that format. I’m not into vans, but the content concerning the building and using are some of my favorites.
I think I've said this on your channel before Thomas - sometimes the journey is more important than the final image. Regardless of B-roll you still tell a good story and that is what keeps me entertained - and keeps me hooked. Do whatever suits your mood, situation, or the moment sir. Your real followers will stick with you regardless. Stay safe and well.
I am a fan of bits of the entire adventure. The reason is that is more realistic... the rain, the wind.. crumby light.. then you get a really good shot.. that is how is goes and tells a true story.
I love trying to fully take in an area and remember everything about it. the sound of foot steps, the coolness of the air, the warmth of sunlight, even how the air feels on my face. makes you feel alive.
Love the van to tripod part of the shoot but as others also say 'nothing wrong with a bit of variety." I also like the time of day you are on the mountain as it seems you have the whole lake district to yourself and such a calm feeling.
the image had an utterly lovely ..resonance. the sort one could stare at on a wall for years and be soothed by. perfect location, surely one of the worlds best places to sit. talking of which, yes commencing every video like this one 🕊 and ending at t'van with a prayer of thanks. that's the ticket! ☺️ this viewer likes all variants here.. however the creator feels on the day; however they wish to flow. 🙏🏼🙏🏼
I loved what you did with the "bad" light in the first picture. No moaning, in reality epic light is rare. But instead adapt and use what you got. Great image! And I agree with the test of time on those pictures.
Love the opening. Variety is the spice of life, and maybe that's why I also enjoyed the van customizing videos. Do whatever gives you joy in making the video of the week or day. If you're not having a great time making the video it will lack the spark of seeing someone enjoying their craft. I also enjoy the humor you share, including wild hair moments. I've made up my mind to spend more time on a single shot than coming home with hundreds of files. My hard drive will thank me.
Thomas really enjoy the build up to the shot. The van, driving, hiking all of it. It helps me think about what I want to do in photography and what it takes to get to an area that is of interest. I'm struggling right now with my photography and your videos help me very much. Thank you for your humor and work.
Thanks for that, Thomas. I appreciate a range of videos. When you don't get an image, or when you are disappointed, it sets the other videos in a believable life. For long-term subscribers like me, the overall effect is that of an epic or novel, with a wide range of experiences and a sprinkling of surprises that spice the whole. So no need to worry if you make some videos without spectacular photos.
I appreciate that this video focused on finding a making the photograph. I have seen enough of the van and enough of cooking. Thanks for the content, Thomas!
The build up to the image with the driving and hiking adds to the overall viewer experience and when you see the work that goes into making the video, like you were here, filming in the dark Thomas, viewers would be hard hearted not to appreciate the work you put in. In terms of your van squealing on starting up, what was done to eradicate it?
I enjoy the stuff before (as well), driving in the van, getting there. Maybe waking up. "Oh, it's early" and all the rest of it. Thank you for doing what you do Thomas :)
Keep doing what you are doing the way you have been doing it. As many others have said the effort you put into your videos is much appreciated. Cracking images are always fun to see, but being along for the journey is always satisfying.
Hi Tom, Nik from Australia. I like the 'full package', the driving and camping, the morning coffee, packing the camera gear etc. All your videos are entertaining and inspirational and I look forward to each week for the latest!
I always appreciate the dedication to the storytelling having to place the camera, go back down, scale the terrain, then go down and fetch the camera again.
Van intros are a must. That's what brought me here! I love learning about landscape photography from your prospective but I really love the behind the scenes.
Regarding whether to just get straight to the photography ... variety is good. I enjoy the van stuff and I enjoyed this opening as well. Part of why I'm subscribed to this channel is that I enjoy you as a person, the side-story or back-story, and the other stuff leading up to, or away from the shot. So you can start your videos any way you like. It's not just about the shot, it's also about you as a person that people enjoy.
I just recharging myself with photography energy, just watching your videos. I trying to don't miss any of them. I crossing that moment when need the motivation to go out and shoot, and your channel is the best potion for it. Wish you all the best for what will gonna come and hopefully will everything gonna come back to normal soon.
The content is all good; the getting to location, taking the photos (or not) and the journey back to the van. Even the van stuff has been enjoyable, too. Keep at it, mate.
I like both intro types. Seeing the build up with the hiking, driving, eating and what ever is great. But you shouldn’t feel like you’re required to. If you’re feeling cruisey and just wanna do a chilled video with minimal B roll I think you totally should. They’re all great mate.
Love the Van intros and the hikes etc
Same!
I love the whole adventure. The driving, van life, cooking, wild camping, hiking, and oh yeah, the photography. I live vicariously thru your videos.
Greetings from Oakland. I enjoy seeing bits of the whole adventure. The driving, the van, the hiking. You’re such a great storyteller that you make us, the viewers, feel that we’re along with you. Thanks!
I like the full story too, even though we've seen it lots of times. It just makes it more like a journey than just some photos.
I personally like the normal introduction with hiking,driving....
Love everything, the intros, the driving, how you came to choose the destination for your adventure. You inspired me to get out doors 5 years ago and I still look forward to you posting a new video every week.

Tom mixing it up is a great way to continue. Van sometimes, straight in on others - keeps it fresh. Well done you getting up there again and again.
I like the driving to the location and the atmosphere in the van as you prepare your food and get ready for the hike and when you call it a night
Love all the content. The storytelling, in the van, hiking, van food, even the photography! You share your life with us and I love that. 👍👍👍👍👍👍
I love your van life, the drive, the hike all of it! Great job.
I know it's a lot more work for you - I really do enjoy seeing the whole story of the image. Driving, hiking, van fires, whatever the adventure is. I appreciate your storytelling, your humor and your humility. Keep making stories, you are too talented to not share it with the world.
Getting straight into the photography was a nice change, adds variety. A little variety is good in my opinion.
100%
I enjoy the van content but I subscribed for the photography. 😊
Videos with stories of your journeys to take those photos add value to them. Experience is similar to reading a photography book. Thank you for your work.
Hi Thomas,
You are delivering everything on my wish list, no need to change anything.
Climb, shoot, sleep, repeat.
Van intro and hikes are part of the therapeutic calming peacefulness of your videos. Keep doing them! Col
Absolutely enjoy the journey, the driving, hiking, and lead up to the photography just as much as the moment of that perfect shot.
I prefer anything you do .. the intro, the chat, the way you show us the path !! Keep on doing it
Like the intro, van, hiking, photography and the story telling behind the scenes in getting those amazing images. The average 20 minute videos are awesome

I really like the intro with the traveling in the van and the walks.
It is part of the adventure of going out to take photos.
It is the real way a landscape photographer works.
Keep up the great videos. Thanks
I think the buildup and prep to the actual shoot is nice. Adds its own element to the whole process. Anticipation adds to the enjoyment.

I think a mix of full story videos with van rides and camping along with more focused videos about the on location shooting is great. I like both.
I concur with everyone who says that getting everything is way better; we've gotten to know you better and in that way there's more of a virtual friendship built up! And all your videos entertain us and is not a waste of time. Thank you for continuing to do these....
I love all! The story behind the photos show photography in its soul 💚
All of your videos are enjoyable. I do like seeing your whole adventure, the van life bits, the hiking, the photography... all of it.
Story story story....that’s why I’ll always choose to watch your videos over the other dozens in my feed. The journey in life is always far more interesting than the result. The photos are only a small part of what makes me watch your videos every week.
The build-up to the image with the driving and hiking and all adds so much!
Personally, I love seeing the van clips, the hiking into the location, and seeing what things you think do and don't make a good photo. The whole experience is really nice :)
I like it all, the van, camping, hiking and photography.
Love seeing the whole lot your ups and downs just show the reality of life.
Love them all.
Ed
I love the whole process. The drive up or the waking up in the van, the whole story. I feel that's all part of the experience of going out on a shoot. Love your videos!
As most others have committed, I like to see the effort that goes into the shot and the efforts that don’t get shots. It keeps it genuine and it’s in keeping with your candor
I love to see the whole adventure and planning. Not just the shoot. Keep it up. Half of the fun is actually getting there.
While the photos are important, I enjoy the 'journey' of your photographic endeavors the most. You do a great job of storytelling with your vlogs.
It’s not always what we as your audience want it is how you feel at the given moment. Keep just doing great vids as you did until now.
👍🏼 👍🏼 👍🏼 👍🏼
I always enjoy when you include van and b roll content
Honestly mate, dont even worry about uploading videos where you don't get an image. It's more realistic and I think everyone will agree, your videos are brilliant with or without a successful shot at the end of the trip. I love living the journey with you throughout the weekdays, especially when I cant get out with the camera because of work 🙌👍
Hi Thomas, I'm from Russia
I want to say thank you for your videos, a separate outlet for me. Special thanks for the subtitles
You can make videos longer, routine, van and preparation is great!
Thank you
Love to watch your little adventures! No matter where you go or what you capture. Thanks Tom!
Don't change much Thomas because you do give us a good combination of formats and lots of variety, I enjoy all aspects of your films. The human side you incorporate also adds lots of appeal In my view. Cheers.
You asked a question, do I like the normal wake up and walk in intro? big answer YES a great big YES,
Intimate time sleepy you at rest time, see the world be at home, be alone time.
This is your time this is real time, this is a fine time to be you, and to be with you, is a privilege.
Thanks Tom, keep making me smile and dreaming of the hills. X
Please keep covering all the travel, hiking, camping etc. I find all of it inspiring.
I wouldn’t worry about the no images Thom. Your story-telling alone is what makes your vids special.
Yes, we like the van scenes and the drive and the coffee-pot and sandwich maker :)
5 minute video. Photography. Job done. Yep yep... I'll take that. And then whatever else you wanna cook up. Rock on, Thomas!
Like everyone else, the non-photography bits are great in my view. All that walking ahead, setting up the video camera, walking back and then retracing your steps (In the dark too!) is well worth it
As a backpacker, camper, hiker and amateur photographer, I enjoy seeing the whole experience. Keep up with a fantastic chanel. Sincerely, Thank You!
I really enjoy the whole effort put in to making great photo. Yes, the whole adventure! I have a Delica myself. I love seeing the whole story behind the images, it makes them worth so much more.

I like the Van ,Tea making etc stuff , its fun and inspiring to watch your videos. I liked your book
I loved what you did with the "bad" light in the first picture. No moaning, in reality epic light is rare. But instead adapt and use what you got. Great image! And I agree with the test of time on those pictures.

I've made up my mind to spend more time on a single shot than coming home with hundreds of files. My hard drive will thank me.
I certainly enjoy the longer videos that show the whole experience, but whatever you prefer to do is most important
Thomas really enjoy the build up to the shot. The van, driving, hiking all of it. It helps me think about what I want to do in photography and what it takes to get to an area that is of interest. I'm struggling right now with my photography and your videos help me very much. Thank you for your humor and work.
Also like to see the drives, van and hikes as well as the brilliant photography footage.
Love the whole process from hike to photography
The vote in our house is ALL of it. The good, the bad, when you are elated as well as down. We're in for the journey, brother.
I personally love it, when you start your vids in the van waking up, making your breakfast and driving the van to the location :)
Thanks for that, Thomas. I appreciate a range of videos. When you don't get an image, or when you are disappointed, it sets the other videos in a believable life. For long-term subscribers like me, the overall effect is that of an epic or novel, with a wide range of experiences and a sprinkling of surprises that spice the whole. love the intros and hikes/ van video. but also a quick video of just photography every now and then is cool too.
I agree, adds to the video
Agree completely, Thomas is the storyteller of each photo he takes, he makes it 3 dimensional and garnishes it with his personality.
I agree - as mundane as it may seem filming a drive or a hike, it adds to the overall storytelling.
The journey is more important than the destination. So definitely love to see the hike up and everything happening around the photos !
I like to be along on the whole adventure. Sometimes I make a cuppa when you do just to join in. Like you, always learning....
Van intros and hikes are appreciated.
Your van is inspiring and your photography is inspiring. Both for sure.
Without hike it doesn't feel like your video tom😊
Like you, I think a big part of enjoying photography is getting out in nature and the whole experience. So, a big yes to the "van stuff"!
