    I can't thank you enough for all the work you do for the community. When I need to relax, or I'm trying to improve my skills I go to your channel and watch your videos. I learn something every time I watch a video, and I learn more each time I re-watch all of them.

    HUGE thanks for the pointers on making a textured pencil brush. I've been wanting to use one for ages, never really found one I liked. This worked a treat. Keep up the amazing work!

    @10:28 reminded me of that frankenstein character from Venture Bros, when Dr. Venture needed a dead henchman body for cheap, and Brock was feeling shameful for killing a henchman without mercy. The episode ended with Brock taking ayausca having a crazy trip then taking the frankestein character to the strip club to apologize for killing him lmaoo

    Very nice but i really really wish it had the tilt functionality like a real pencil and like the proko pencil from infinite painter.

    Robbiieee wazzap, its christian. Looking through the channel on how to setup PS for more effciency and comofort, any video i missed or? possibly a good idea? :D , i know how to change stuff in PS, but what is your opinion for the best lay-out and how to achieve it is a great video for beginners.

      +AriesWar What's up dude! I just use the rollouts. ( Where you click the small arrows and the side bar pops out. ) And I keep the larger roll out to my right since I am left handed, I keep my art to my left. Just my preference. Other than that I don't do much with that end of the interface. I will look into it more and if I can find some good info then I will post a video on it. Good luck to you and thanks for watching!

    Hey bro thanks for the video. Is there a way to set up a pencil or brush in a way where there are pixels with related colors to the seelcted one drawn in the pencil area as well without this saturation jitter or other color dynamics?

    Hi Robert, I just followed your tuturial steps and, even though I don't have the exact texture and wind up playing around with some of the settings, I think I just created my freaking best digital pencil sketcher I ever done... so, thank you for this video in particular... I've been drawing with many different brushes, even changing from Photoshop to Clip then to Sketch Book Pro, just because I need a "better pencil" and at some point the digi pencil I'm using doesn't feel comfortable anymore, so I change software and go from there, then change again... etc etc etc... but the pencil I just made, out of these tips really feels comfortable.... Cheers!!

    I must have missed a step. Mine came out as a nice pastel. If I can figure out how to make it affect the paint already on the layer it'll be perfect, but I'll have to do some tinkering if i want that pencil.

    hello! thx for the video.
    and if you dont mind, can you explain what the versions of photo shop are?, what i mean is why are there different versions? what make each one different? are some better then others? and if so why?...
    which is best? or is it personal preference? im interested in something called line manipulation, do you know what something like that would be on which Photoshop version?
    you can basically make perfect curves, lines, line weights, & thicknesses, ect.

    • @RobertMarzullo
      @RobertMarzullo  9 років тому

      +Seth Leblanc I don't know a whole lot about various versions. I know a lot of people get mad when they change things but I always stick to the newest version and deal with it. Mainly because I lease the Adobe Cloud membership and it gives me the newest version of each of their products. Plus I actually like learning new software, where some people find what works and never feel the need to explore past that.
      As far as the other tool you are talking about. I think you are referring to the Pen tool. And yes, it can do all of those things and more. By controlling Paths in Photoshop, you can get your art to a higher level of controlled detail. There is a time and a place for it. Just like there is a time and a place for freehand work but if you combine the two properly then you work will truly shine.
      I will make sure to address that tool in a future video as well. Good luck to you and thanks for watching!

    Hey Rob! Glad to see you're still making videos! (Seems like you've been as busy as I have been as of late.)
    I was donating to your patreon until recently, but I have just had to declare my income and expenses to a government entity to approve my student loan for art school! Woo! As such, because of the stupid cost, I cut everything so that I wouldn't actually have much debt. I had about 3/4ths of the cost saved up, but I wanted the lowest interest rate and what not so I've been rather... scrimp with my money. I even cut my Warcraft subscription I've had going since I was a teenager. :(
    Anyway, I will be donating again as soon as I can, likely in the next few months. I really hope you keep at it.
    As for a request, I'd love to see a video on how you actually build a character from scratch NOW, compared to when you were green and new to drawing. I recently started re-learning the methods Michael Hampton teaches in one of his books for figure drawing, and I was able to design and improve one of my own mutant character designs by making my own frame or rig or whatever you call it.
    I'd love to see how the master does this type of intense character design outside of light sketches, if you even do this!
    If not that specific request, try to think of the stuff you find really mundane and simple and behind the scenes, that most artists never see other more professional artists do that may seem intrinsic to you!

    • @sso1620
      @sso1620 9 років тому +1

      +S So Oh, and it seems you still have the Bob Ross-type of narration that's really great to listen to while drawing! Keep it up!

    • @RobertMarzullo
      @RobertMarzullo  9 років тому +1

      +S So lol. Well Bob Ross was a favorite of mine growing up so I am honored you would say that. And as for donating, no need to explain. I appreciate anything you do and I am happy that you like the work enough to contribute when you can. And on the topic of the video request, I can work on that one in the near future. I have had a few request on that very topic lately so I guess it deserves to be bumped up on the list. I will work on that as soon as my schedule allows.
      Thank you very much for taking the time to comment and best of luck with your schooling! ;)

    Nice video! What brushes do you use for coloring and inking artwork? Do any of your videos explain how to make these brushes?

    • @RobertMarzullo
      @RobertMarzullo  9 років тому

      +skylar99 If you follow this link I use the one that says comic inking brush. And for coloring I usually use a variation of the hard round brush and the sketch marker. Thanks for watching and I am glad you found this video helpful!

      +Robert Marzullo Thank you! I will try the brushes you shared. If you get the chance, please make a tutorial on how to create brushes for inking and coloring. It's easy to download brushes someone else has made but that’s not suitable for every project. I want to get better at making my own brushes and tweaking them as necessary.

    • @skylar9913
      @skylar9913 9 років тому +1

      +Robert Marzullo I also wish to see a tutorial that provides a solution to a dilemma I’m having. I downloaded many Photoshop brushes and made a lot of swatches. I’m basically a hoarder when it comes to this stuff. Now I need to figure out how to organize them into folders, or categories, or whatever organization method is possible in Photoshop. I only use specific brushes and swatches, and that depends on the type of project. That’s why I’ve got to find a way to put brushes into groups and pull out the right group for the right project.

    • @RobertMarzullo
      @RobertMarzullo  9 років тому

      There is a way to do that. You save the ABR files in subcategory folders on your hard drive then you use the load brushes options to only load and combine the brushes you need at the time. If not, you have to sort through a plethora of brushes to find what you are looking for. I will address that and how to make a comic book inking brush in future videos.
      Thanks for watching and please share the videos when you can! :)

    • @skylar9913
      @skylar9913 9 років тому

      +Robert Marzullo I have tried doing that but I got confused because I couldn’t tell where the brushes were going. Photoshop kept loading the same brushes without warning me about repetition. I kind of get how it’s done now. I still think you should devote one video to techniques for working in an organized way with Photoshop. Maybe you can cover brushes, swatches, layers and anything that requires organization. Try to fit it all in one video because that makes the information more accessible.
