I was 16 years old and directing our small rural church choir around 1987. I can't believe I selected this difficult cantata - a definite recipe for failure. But the choir members were so dedicated and did their very best. I was a tyrant and delusional. I even strongly "encouraged" my sister to do this solo, unaware at the time that it was Sandi Patty doing the demo. God forgive me. 😆 🤣 😂
You know the death of this genre of church choral music was that no one could sing it. This song is the perfect example. No one could sing this like Sandi Patty - and this was just meant to be a "demo tape" for church choirs who, bless their hearts, tried so hard. But it never sounded like this and that therein, was the problem.
I totally agree. It sounded easy but great when I first listened to it and selected it for our small rural church choir. Big mistake even though the members were totally dedicated.
