Vagrant Story
One of my favourite RPGs!
Vagrant is pure magic, el vagabundo!
Ooohhh what a game vagrant. I don't think people in general ever talk about or know about vagrant
Seriously this is pretty far from a game “nobody” talks about.
I'm saying this because from the few guys that I follow that make reviews this Is the first time that I saw it on a list or Review. Don't get me wrong, I love this game
Future Cop LAPD was originally meant to be the final game in EA's "Strike" series, Future Strike.
Correct but it evolved into its own thing.
HELLO YOU
thats cool, didnt know that. i loved soviet and nuclear strike. future cop's 2 player mode is also arguably the first moba mechanics wise :)
I loved this game as a kid, nobody knows about it
playstation 1 has such a huge library, much more than playstation 4 + 5 together, and most of them are exclusives. Remember the times when games were exclusives for a platform? Ps1 alone is enough to play for the rest of your life
Such an incredible console!
PS1 is my all time favourite console. It's the 4th or 5th console I played and the 2nd one I owned.
Most games back then were exclusive due to hardware limitations.
@@Ineedgames that means that hardware limitation was good for gaming. Progress killed all the diversity in video games and half of the genres as well
Ps2 too
Happy to see Vagrant Story. Some of these other games look super interesting. The PS1 is such a fantastic system with an amazing library.
My first console was a SNES, but the PS1 is what truly got me into gaming. It really does have an amazing library, and most of the games are still fun to this day.
对对, 老外。 最近 你很好 马? 我 这里 认识 你 。Say hi to Winston for me, please!
Keep up the great work laowhy.
Another great list with some interesting games I'd never heard of!
In my opinion though Vagrant Story doesn't really fit here. It sold extremely well outside of Japan, enough to get put into the Greatest Hits series, and is a regular feature on lists of the greatest games of all time. It's certainly become more a cult classic over time because of it's stand alone status and Matsuno taking a step back from development (which means any chance of a sequel is dead) but for anyone playing games in the 90s, it was a huge deal and a very recognisable name.
The fact that on most rom sites it's among the most downloaded PSX ROM, higher than games like Tomb Raider, GTA and Spyro - a huge testament to how much this beautiful dungeon crawler has stood the test of time!
I only say it because I'm a huge Vagrant Story fan and don't want to believe that other people don't love it as well!
I own a copy; Vagrant Story is fantastic.
Yeah, its truly a great game, and I consider it a classic too
I think this is more about how nobody talks about them now. That is unfortunately the curse of video games, whereas in films, a piece can stand the test of time far better because games (most of them) rely 100% on computer generated images for all kinds of visuals.
And yes Vagrant Story does get talked about a lot by emulator fans etc but most of the gamers who wouldn't touch an old game with a pole stick probably have never heard of it. I'm currently playing the game on my PSP and really loving it. I knew the art style would be great but I'm very impressed with the combat as well. Genuinely breathtaking work all around. Maybe the dialogue could be better though but I'm almost certain it is because I have no means of experiencing it in its native language.
Have to agree, I also found it to be an odd addition to the list. I remember the game being a huge deal and any time anyone mentions anything about the pinnacle of psx graphic capabilities, Vagrant Story is usually the main mention.
Relatively the game looks stunning.
the biggest problem with vagrant story is its loading. the game is pretty much perfect in every other regard.
Completely blows my mind that there are still so many video games I've never heard of, even at my age. Great video!
Thanks Tony!
I recognized the Kajero: Deception mark on the screenshot. One of my favorite action puzzle games. It can really get you anxious when your enemies are cornering you and your traps haven't hit them.
Such a good game!
I always felt like Evil Zone was a dream I had because I played it so much and nobody talks about it or seem to ever heard about it . Thank you
Such a good fighter!
Always played it with my brother and I'd own him all the time.
I never played it myself..butni remember the CD cover and the magazine adverts...the design on that ponytail lady always stuck with me..I never forgot yet never played.
Wow. You sure know how to dig up obscure gems like nobody else on UA-cam. I always thought of myself as being reasonably familiar with various systems' libraries but you still manage to blow me away with great games that I never heard of all the time and I have no clue how you never seem to run out of titles of a decent caliber. Great work on your channel man. It is one of the best.
Thanks Chaos I appreciate that man!
@@thatvideogamesshow I meant every word. You never fail to surprise me with awesome new games to play.
I remember playing rollcage's demo over an over when I was a kid back then. And later finding the first and second game on a shop.
They are amazing games, excellent flow, ambiance, presentation, and my younger self loved being able to ride on walls and ceilings.
Great list! I literally clicked to see if Vagrant Story was featured, lolol. Perusing the comments section has me so glad I'm not the only one who loved and remembers that game. I might have, dare I say, hope that a remaster could happen eventually? Definitely one of my favorite RPGs of all time, the story, setting, characters, mechanics, they've all really stuck with me in a way that most games do not!
I consider myself a PS1 enthusiast and a little bit of an expert. But here we are, still seeing interesting games for it 20+ years after it's firsts release. The ps1 never stops to amaze me. Great video.
Same here. Started watching this video and expected to "know them all" and still learned some new titles... mostly Japanese fighters tho ;-)
Ohhhh I have truly fond memories of Kagero: Deception 2. It's still one of my absolute favorites to replay. (I still have the enemy info screen's theme, 'Visitor' stuck in my head). I wish that Tecmo and Sony would at the very least remaster and rerelease it for PS4/PS5
Such a good game!
home alone, the "better version"
Brave Prove was inspired by two games, Beyond Oasis and Legend of Oasis, the latter being a masterpiece, few people know or talk about, it's for the Sega Saturn.
It looks like Terranigma
@@SJCRod True, good catch!
I also see a bit of Alundra in there
Yeah, the way the character swung the sword is pretty close to how Beyond Oaisis's main did.
Alundra is closer to LoZ and DEFINTITELY Landstalker..given the dev team were ex‐Climax/Camelot Devs who worked on Landstalker. The hallmarks are all there: Traps, Frustrating Platforming, picking up items and using them as platforms. Its Landstalker minus the isometric angle.
You should've mentioned the trap development in Deception 2. I found it really cool that you unlock new traps by spending development points called ark from a skill tree, and being creative and doing bigger trap combos gave you more ark. Pulling off huge combos with diverse traps was so satisfying. I try to combo all 9 traps plus room devices in a single combo for extra challenge.
Great video and list. Definitely wanna check out a few I haven't heard of, like Shaolin and Rollcage. I'm actually really glad Evil Zone made the list. It got mediocre reviews, but I always enjoyed it. Controls can be a bit off, at times, but I've consistently gone back to it over the years because of the character variety and mechanics that are easy to pick up and play with friends. Always wished someone made a polished sequel.
Same here man, would have loved to have seen evil zone continue!
I'll drink to more Evil Zone! So far my survival mode high score is 26 iirc.
Showed it to some of the younger scouts in my troop and they enjoyed it up at the Christmas party a few years back. If only it were possible to link consoles online emulating a second controller with the ps1 digital emulating the link cable, but instead also emulating a plugged in controller.
Also Shadow Master, loved the soundtrack and watching the enemies turn into glass fragments.
Cheers fellow gamers!
Evil zone is fun with friends 🤣 I wish I picked it up when I saw it for 9 bucks.disc only is fine especially for a fighting game.
There's also a Rollcage 2. I own the 1st one and I played the demo like 100 times lol
first time ever seeing Evil Zone and it looks BADASS
Shaolin this game seems very ahead of its time
It really was. Such a cool concept!
It's basically Shenmue before Shenmue. Was Yu influenced by this hidden gem is my next question?
a PS1 game series i never see talked about (and 1 of my favorites) is Bushido Blade 1 & 2. mechanically-realistic sword fighter games where 1 swing can kill players/npc's if contacting vital organs. you can even cripple your opponents by taking out they're legs, forcing them to fight prone and unable to run or jump. or take out their arm and render their throwing weapons useless. there's even a camera option that turns the game into a first-person hack-and-slash.
Future Cop was my favorite PS1 game. I loved everything about that game. The soundtrack was amazing.
This was a really great video - there were so many games that I actually had never heard of which isn't always the case in videos like this. So many new games for me to try out now. I did own Rollcage though and Future Cop LAPD - really loved it, although I never tried the multiplayer mode even against the CPU.
I think perhaps Firebugs is more obscure than the Rollcage games. It's the same developer and actually started off as Rollcage 3 before being turned into a slightly easier kid friendly game.
Glad you found something new man!
This awesome list, most of them I truly never heard before... And evil Zone,oh how I have so much fun playing it back then. It's just awesome moves we can make from very simple input. Oh I wish you also put last Sentai games like Gao Ranger and Ninpu Sentai Hurricanger, they are also awesome spectacle that mimic the shows. Also the transition from FMV to gameplay also smooth without loading time.
Awesome video as always,it´s just me or that Fist of the north star looks ans plays like a prequel of God hand?
Love your channel man, greetings from Brazil!
I actually played Kagero Deception 2 when I was an exchange trip to japan when I was in school. I loved the game despite not understanding anything but didn't have a proper way to play imported PS1 games at the time & thought it would never come westward so I thought I'd never see it again... so when I saw it on sale at a local shop, I snapped it up right away & still have it to this day!
The 2 sequels that made it to Europe are also really fun. And Evil Zone is pretty hilarious & the old Ads for it back in the day were super dumb.
Many interesting recommendations in this one! Thanks!
Vagrant Story is actually a legend. The story is so deep, and the mechanic is one of the best. People who don't know about it probably those who don't really into jrpg or those who didn't experience those times - talking about ages hahahah.
You never hear about Thousand Arms, Alundra, Vagrant Story, Vandal Hearts, Jade Cocoon, Vib Ribbon, Um Jammer Lammy, Arc The Lad Collection, Soul Blade, Tobal No. 1, Tobal 2, Dead or Alive, Wild Arms, Rival Schools, Saiyuki: The Journey West, Hoshigami, Tecmo’s Deception… there are so many great lost gems.
Thousand Arms was one of the most fun filled games I have ever played.
@@DeadMeat991 nice to see a fellow fan. I haven’t played that one in decades! I’d love to play it again someday.
@@brichan1851 I will certainly give it a playthrough on emulator.
Shaolin is a concept that I always wanted in a game, Shenmue , Absolver and of course Shaolin are the closest thing to a Martial Arts rpg. Wish devs made games like this but fighting games are nish to begin with so it is probably just a dream.
What about that Capcom one with the monsters? It's on the new Capcom fighting thing that's been announced today.
It's a fighting game with level ups
@@Guitar-Dog red earth? I have never play it but you don't really build your character as far as I know. I was thinking of a game were you create your character and build its moveset trough diferent styles kinda like sonic battle.
@@Luis-nj4id - Def Jam FFNY is one of the only games with similar progression mechanics…and it’s one of my favorite games of all time. Top 50 for sure, but possibly top 25.
Have you tried Jade Empire? I'm not too familiar with it, but I know it's a well-regarded (although somewhat unknown) RPG and it's martial arts themed/inspired
If you would be up for an action platformer with an actual Fighter-like combat system, I'd say check out Kya: Dark Lineage. For a platformer, it's got a pretty big in-depth combat system that has moves based around positioning different grab animations depending on if you're in front, behind or either side of the opponent-- or even jumping over or *onto* an enemy.
Both jumping onto an enemy or grabbing one from behind can be used to harm other enemies, namely by driving them into their allies for a short time or using them as a flail and swinging them around.
Aside from that there's moves like normal punches and kicks, quick double spinkicks, straight kicks to the face, uppercuts and some sort of... kick backwards + immediately jumping after the enemy for two more kicks while jumping + a punch.
Though the moves aren't acquired from leveling up or right from the start. Rather, there's different colors of bracelets to buy that all give their own selection of moves to add onto your already existing moveset. It's not too bad to obtain money, though.
Aside from that, the art direction of Kya is like Rayman 2 and 3, and other mechanics involve riding two different variations of two-legged beasts, sliding, making use of wind like gliding, free falling or being blown against walls over chasms, and very light puzzles.
I could use the line "it's not a perfect game" but *no* game is. Yet the issues it has aren't game-breaking or bring down the game (aside perhaps from the ending).
But it's still worth checking out.
If you are interested and ever find a chance to play it, i hope you will enjoy your time with it.
I can't belive you managed to find so many fun looking games that I have never heard of! This might be the best hidden gems list I've ever seen. :) Good job! :D
Thanks man! I appreciate that 🙂
The fact that Vagrant Story's story is so good is pretty amazing considering how much of it they actually had to cut out of the final product.
I gotta say I have not heard of any of these PS1 games until now, it's a good list of games that I would definitely like to try, so thank you for making a list of cool PS1 games I've never heard of before, you did a real nice job TVGS ✌️
Thanks Ryu, glad you found something new man!
Your production values are impressive!
that's a great list of games!! Made me want to play them all
Evil Zone! That was my one and only fighting game on the PS1 and is still something I'll happily pick up at times. It's simple but the characters charm really does lift the experience up. Also the music for stages/characters is amazing. And the Story being represented as anime op/ed type of setting was fun in it
Such a good fighter!
evil zone..
Amen fellow Evil Zone brother! So far my survival record is 26 with Ihadurca.
I always loved the ntsc-u version as a kid, but with the xstation I tried the Japanese version and prefer it a bit, the intro theme stays intact and Erel's Japanese VA sings in her level.
I even have Keiya's theme as my ringtone.
Cheers!
@@haloslayer255 I'm a little late to the comments here but agree with HaloSlayer a 100% if you never seen the JP opening check it out. Losing that music is one of the biggest crimes with the localization. I was lucky enough to pick up a copy of the JP version at a local gaming store before it was even out in the US.
@@yamiq2996 I have all three region versions. Then I have the roms loaded on an xstation modded console.
My highest score in survival is currently 32.
I also picked up the OST a few weeks ago on Amazon. Just have to find the Metadata for an accurate Exact Audio Copy backup.
Cheers!
Man I remember Evil Zone! I played the heck outta that one. Excellent fighter. It was so unique. Never got to play Vagrant Story. Always wanted to. Thanks for the reminder, Hopefully I can check it out sometime soon.
I've seen Shaolin mentioned and shown in other lists and it looks like a game I would enjoy! I'll have to hunt a copy down for myself and see how I like it! Evil Zone is another one I've had my eye on for a while. Same with Vagrant Story, especially because of the Ivalice connections. I've slowed down on my retro collecting while I recoup some money, but I hope to start back soon!
It’s really good!
Great stuff. I’ve added a few of thease to my wish list. Thanks 😊
My pleasure!
If you're looking for more obscure ps1 games. You should definitely check out muppet monster adventure. Its a great ps1 platformer, that no one knows about and plays really well, especially for a licensed game.
Thanks for the suggestion!
Love that game.
i love Future Cop LAPD played it like crazy when i had it, and i remember having Shadow master on a demo disc with the settlers 2
Rollcage is the best! That is all ;)
Another great video and collection of games, that, if I'm honest, I still talk about, having most of them in my library already. But I like the weird, the forgotten, the games who's ambition sometimes couldn't be met ;)
Thank you for the work and soul put in bringing back to concioussnes the varied experiences the medium provides in each iteration of human ingenuity put into a videogame
Thanks for watching!
Very nice and original list, these are all games I never knew about.
Glad you found something new 🙂
So many great games that never got PS2 era sequels. Solid video mate, I'd like to point out a game I loved that no ones remembers was Silent Bomber. Fuckin' love that game.
Loving the Beatties price sticker on that last shot of PS1 games. Wow were they really still around when the PS1 was on the market? I most remember them for my dad buying model buses from them. Did used to frequent the Halifax branch though.
Amazing list. Future Cop LAPD and Vagrant Story are the only 2 games here I've heard of before.
Another game that seems to be forgetted was Choro Q. The trilogy was arguably the first 3d racing games with customization and the 2 and 3rd entry introduces an open world!
Im glad fans translated this entries. Choro Q 3 became a few weeks ago into one of my fav PS1 games.
Forgotten.*
@@HolyGoddessMotherAnne My english is not so good. Sorry.
@@sebastianaliandkulche It is fine,I thought I'd try and help foreign fellow.
@@HolyGoddessMotherAnne Thanks man ;)
Evil Zone is a great Fighter, with a great presentation, and engaging stories. I used to play the Hell out of it when I was a teenager!
I have so many good memories of Kagero Deception and Vagrant story but The most underrated game I've played on PS1 was Akuji the heartless. Platforming , Action and Incredible soundtrack. So good
Thanks for the tip, I’m going to have to check that one out!
That Shaolin game looks amazing. I hope the Battle Angel Alita PS1 game is fan translated oneday!
Keep up the amazing lists!!🥳. Spider the Videogame ( the cover is a spider holding a knife and gun!🤣blew my mind in the 90s)
Man I should really get my stuff together and start watching this channel more often.
I regularly browse through lists of ps1 games and always look at obscure / interesting Japanese games.
Didn't know about brave prove.
I also find thorhighheels channel to bee a goldmine for interesting and obscure games.
(Not huge into fighting games, but that's how I found out about evil zone.)
Racing Lagoon has to be on my top 10 list for ps1 games (and I usually can't decide on lists because there's so much to choose from) . And I am so grateful to the people who translated it.
Shadow master
Shaolin
Kagero Deception 2
Roll cage
All look interesting and worth a try
Awesome video as always man
Thanks mate!
the most underrated PS1 games imo were Hogs of War and The Grinch...those were my favorite games on the platform after Oddworld Abe's Exoddus. Especially Hogs of War was massively popular in my area (in Germany) so I was suprised when I realised most people outside where sleeping on this game
Great video!
Everybody:
- Doesn’t talk about these games-
That video game show:
“My time has come”
😅
A game I love and no one talks about is Looney Tunes: Sheep Raider. It's a puzzle platformer that looks amazing to this day.
One of the best games on ps1. Very underrated and overlooked.
I played Future Cop LAPD! Thanks, I didn't remembered until now ^^
When I was younger we played all these :)
People still play Evil Zone even today, it's very niche
I ordered a copy of Shadow Master after seeing this. Another game I see no one mention that you should really look at is The Unholy War. It's a fighting/strategy game that's great fun with two players.
It's the followup to Archon and Star Control. One of my favorite games of all time.
@@aaronblain6377 It's such a great game, and criminally underrated.
Great video as always, really need to try Brave Prove, it looks great. Hoping to see The Unholy War in part 2 as I have never seen a video of someone mentioning it. Turn on all enemies and fight faction v faction or play the campaign which is strategy + arcade brawler.
Thanks Zoid! For sure I’ll have to add it for part 2 🙂
These are some interesting games some of them look more than the others but still thanks for sharing. Cool video. ^_^
Great selection of games that nobody's talking or listing on Hidden Gems videos, a part 2 is needed
In the works 🙂
Psygnosis were on fire in the late 90s with Wipeouts, G-Police Colony Wars series & even Overboard. Always wanted Shadowmaster but it eluded me back then, though it was this engine that allowed Quake 2 to be ported to the PS1.
Amazing list! I already want to try all of this games! I don't know if you talked about it Tail Concerto or Silent Bomber in another video, but these two games are also amazing hidden gems of the system!
Big ups to Silent Bomber.
*Ehrgeiz: God Bless the Ring* is an Arcade 3D Fighting game featuring a bunch of playable Final Fantasy 7 characters, but it also includes a pretty fun dungeon crawler/action RPG through its "QUEST MODE"
Wow, there's a ton of games I'd neve heard before! Thank you for the amazing video! I can't wait to try them out on Duckstation.
Glad you found something new man!
fantastic list of some games i have on a wish for playing,i was play Nanotek Warrior and its been great, but hard game, there is Rollcage who still great racing game like and Vagrant Story
you do a great job of finding games people have never heard about in these videos.
Thanks mate!
Roll cage!!!! Loved it, so much so I picked up Grip on PS4 which is the spiritual sequel, another underrated title 👍
i love kagero and its sequels. Great video!!!
Loved Vagrant Story.
Also Deception 2 was pretty good.
But heres another game i never see anyone talk about Koudelka.
It was the dark Final Fantasy, the tactics RPG of Resident Evil (kinda) it was more paranormal than abnormal. Basically it was the PS1s Shadow Hearts.
That's because it's the first game in the Shadowhearts series lol.
I've had countless hours of fun with my brother playing LAPD! Our friend also taught us how to unlock the special weapons like the K-9 dog missiles through the gaming mags back then! :D
I loved Kagero Deception ever since I played the demo on the Playstation Magazine demo disc. I still have it and even have the sequels for PS2 and PS4.
Love this channel
Brave Fencer Musashi is a personal fav that nobody I know of has ever played, it has some online popularity but not much. It's a great action rpg that doesn't get the love it deserves.
It was my favorite and I never meet other fans! I want to play it through to the end now that I'm an adult with an attention span
Future Cop was a punch in the nostalgia. Just loved that game to play coop or versus.
Haha same here! Used to play it a bunch with my brother back in the day.
14:48 Maybe today, I distinctly remember Vagrant Story being EVERYWHERE in the magazines back when it came out. Below the radar it was not.
Rollcage was amazing I played it so much on a PS1 demo 😁 also it reminded me of Hotwheel cars that were able to flip change into a different car and continue driving
7:56 AYO MY MOST FAV AND MOST REPLAYED PS1 GAME!!! OMG Thank you for including it to this list. I've been wondering if people also play this game just like me. God bless!
Great list!! I played the fist of the north star game that one was awesome!!
Thanks Hellish!
I remember playing Future Cop LAPD and Rollcage as a kid, I think i've still got both kicking around at my folks house actually
Sweet list man 😊
Thanks Gaz 🙂
There's a game few people talks about that's kind of a different third person action game as well, Silent Bomber. It's a good title by Bandai where you don't shoot, you plant bombs and mines on the enemies and the scenario. It can get a bit repetitive, but it's full of fast paced action.
Amazing game. Played the demo first and had to track down a copy. Serious classic.
Ohhhh Rollcage. Never owned the full game but I did own a demo for it, which I played A LOT. Loved it.
The physics in Rollcage looks fantastic.
I confess, I expected that video title to be nothing but clickbait, but you really DID showcase a bunch of PS1 games that don't get talked about, including Brave Prove - A game I saw back in 1999 on a friend's PlayStation and have been trying to find again ever since. I will have to find a copy of the ROM and figure out how to graft the translation into it.
Thanks!
Rollcage is great, one of my favorite racing games ! Lots of interesting games and some i wasn't aware of, thanks !
Glad you found something new!
Elemental Gimmick Gear, Trap Gunner, Robin Lloyd, Septentrion, The Firemen 2: Peter and Danny, etc... There's A LOT of games that flew under the radar or never made it here and are amazing!
I forgot about Evil Zone. I picked it up on sale back in the day. I'm not much for fighting games, but it was enjoyable.
Future Cop LAPD is great for versus gameplay. I enjoyed playing this game with my cousins.
It's always nice to see someone mention Kagero. Does anyone know of similar games on the PC ? Games like Kagero, Devil Dice, Deception, ...
Another game that should be on the list is a Japanese exclusive called "The adventure of little Ralph". Probably on of the most beautiful pieces of pixel art that isn't castlevania symphony of the night of chronicles. And its tough as nails, but absolutely fair.
Reggie?
A lot of people know about it by now. It's one of my favorite games, but it's not really that great of a game, yet people talk about it because it's worth a lot of money. I went to Super Donut in Japan to find it, I did find it...l It was just the disk alone, about $150 USD! Wrapped in a plastic bag, hanging inside of a display case. Crazy, I did not buy it. I just put the ISO on my SD card on my PSX with an Xstation installled, and beat it for the 20th time again.
It's a good game, but not worth the prices it's seeing, AT ALL. It's just a talk piece. Yet, I still do love it.
13:10 funny thing is that character costume is featured in WWF Smackdown 1 and 2 for PSX as a customizable attire for your characters
Really great list the game i remember was rollcage stage 2 is 2nd game of rollcage i had fun playing it when i was young and there is super sonic racing but us name is daredevil Darby 3D and circuit breaker
I had never heard of Shadow Masters, thanks
Tecmos deception 1 is still unbelievable game which is still not copied by any other game in terms of mechanics.
And the fact that you included it in this video, combining rollcage, man you completely read my mind!
I played Vagrant Story literally 21 times, from 8th grade until the end of university.
Rare mechanics and amazing games back then.
I now need to check out Evil Zone and Future Cop: LAPD because of this video.
Red Asphalt is another entertaining ps1 game I never see mentioned. It's a combat racing game where you can buy bigger, faster, and more destructive vehicles as you advance. Loved it when younger, not sure how well it held up.
Silent Bomber is a great game that no one talks about and few probably even know about. Imagine a Bomberman game that crossed with Contra.
awesome list
Thanks for watching!
Always been a big fan of Vagrant Story's represented targeting sphere(like in Parasite Eve) for weapon reach and the mechanic of targeting limbs causing debilitating effects, only the timed action was not so fun. I like to keep my mechanics separate, action stays with action, strategy stays with strategy. Though they could've shortened some of the casting animations though.
vagrant is probably the only game with timed actions that i actually enjoyed. even great games like the mario rpg series or even res4, i dont feel as inclined to replay because of that, but VS did it so well, that i not only dont mind, but also think it fits perfectly in the game(pulling off the 30 hit combo feels amazing).
i love Evil Zone...i wasnt aware of both Nanotek Warrior and Brave Prove
