Very much looking forward/full of envy ☺️ for the library video. The Pride lp is such a great record and one of my favourite Axelrod releases. Cheers Nige
The music library records are the real score here. To get that many in one go is mind blowing. I'm so happy for you dude. I've been into these types of records for decades now and have never seen that many in one place at the same time. There's still so much music to be discovered in library records that most people have no idea even existed. Hopefully you'll show us some choice picks once you have had time to properly go through them. So cool.
Congratulations on getting reunited with your Grant Green. I know what it's like to love a record, sell it or lose it, & then have the thrill of getting a new copy back.
Wow man, I've been refreshing UA-cam all the time checking for new videos about this crazy trip. :) And I'm not even in the US! Thanks for this, Dillon, very cool.
hyped for you, sorry you had to deal with negative folks and getting hit up by so many stores trying to horn in. If you do this long enough you know records flow where they flow and you don't owe anyone anything. Love your vids hope to make it to the shop sometime!
It is always the case if, like me, you have been collecting about 50 yrs and when I reached that 'hey am grown up now so its time to get into jazz', I had no idea (pre internet ) early 1980s about values....although am sure they were never stupid prices if memory serves...and the number of Blue Note monos (I assume first press) I passed over digging....like who wants mono huh....but so it goes! Great video and keep em coming!
And thats why I think the writing on these album sleeves is going to end up making them more special and becoming something that makes that copy more special, because of how much it’s become a if you know you know thing (anyone who follows Dillon [most people in the VC] will immediately recognize them if they see them being sold in the wild). Its like a hype sticker to anyone who follows Dillon
OG mono pressings! Even these were all reissues it would still be an amazing haul. I’m surprised they held onto all these for so long. Seems like a sale that would have happened 20 years ago
To me that Eric Dolphy - Outward Bound on purple New Jazz DG is the heaviest hitter on my list. That tape on the laminated front cover may come off if you're lucky. Incredible finds!
All the stuff is killer! Not sure if you might’ve said it in an earlier video but do we know how long this station was getting these records, like what year did they stop?
I don't know why they can't reissues those great (mostly blue note) jazz records from the 50's and 60's in glorious mono. They always reissue the stereo mixes; and that makes the mono versions even more rare.

What the heck are you gonna do with all those library records? Just curious.
I need to make a video about them. They are instrumental records used for film & radio. But they are very cool and special with a deep history in sampling and stuff. Very cool thing
EXCELLENT, CAME ACROSS JAZZ/BLUE GRASS COLLECTION MOST LL NEW SOME UNOPENED, SOME INTERNATIONAL, IN SO., CALI LOOKING TO SELL NEED TO RESEARCH, ILL EMAIL U SOMETIME, OVER 300 VINYLS.
I’ve had a few people scoff at the catalog numbers written on the cover and label, so I thought I’d address that. These numbers were a part of the Voice of America cataloging system. It was given a number in relation to when the record was received. I could probably remove the number on the cover pretty easily with some rubbing alcohol, but to me, that would be a shame. This record was played on the VOA, and was heard all around the world as a symbol of artistic freedom of expression that America triumphed. This record influenced and inspired people far and wide. These numbers mean something historic. Also, over the past month I’ve dug through over 100,000 records with numbers just like these, so it’s something deeply personal to me that reminds me of a collection I will never forget.

Thank you for giving us out of towners the opportunity to enjoy the Voa collection on Whatnot.
Any instinct I had leaning toward jealousy is abated by the fact that you’re such a positive force in the VC and in general!
Hahaha thank you! I try!
Yeah, it doesn't hurt quite as much seeing it go to him.
This feels like a culmination of everything you have worked for so far. You deserve this Dylan. Bravo!
Thanks so much! I feel honored to be a part of it!
Would love a video explaining and diving in to the library records. This is an area of collecting I have no exposure to.

Props to you Dylan for being honest👍
Honesty has never steered me wrong!
I hope you'll include some of those Rare Jazz titles in your WhatNot Auctions

Iggy promo is nice.
9:03 Spotted HP Lovecraft.
I used worked for Blue Note Records and had a blast and what a historical label to work for 🤓
I invented the piano key necktie
Thanks again man🤘 edit: glad you managed to get an Iggy in the end
🙏🙏🙏
Now big is your own collection with all the new ones included
Youre a good man man

I guess I have a lot of the Blue Note stuff. I was wondering if the Dolphy on New Jazz has the Prestige trident logo on the back cover?
"Bunch a really cool stuff..." [Doesn't even notice the 1st Mad River LP at the back of the box.]
I noticed! I paid for it! 😂 there was a lot of cool stuff in there I didn’t show
All the stuff is killer! Not sure if you might’ve said it in an earlier video but do we know how long this station was getting these records, like what year did they stop?
Most vinyl stopped about 1991, but I found a few records later than that. Then they did CDs until they went all digital
VOA started in 1942, so potentially records from then onwards until CDs
was wondering are there any records from that VOA collection that was released on the 90’s-mid 2000’s?
I don't know why they can't reissues those great (mostly blue note) jazz records from the 50's and 60's in glorious mono. They always reissue the stereo mixes; and that makes the mono versions even more rare.

Listen to them
^5!
What an amazing collection (hoard)! Was there ANY Elvis Presley amongst all of these?
Some, but I didn’t see anything too rare
Did Voice of America get hip to any of the jazz on ESP-Disk?
You have used the term "library record" in multiple videos. Can you explain what this means.
I need to make a video about them. They are instrumental records used for film & radio. But they are very cool and special with a deep history in sampling and stuff. Very cool thing
Library Music is what we now call "Copywrite Free" music
@noblerecords That would be awesome. You do a great job explaining things.
Don’t you just hate when you stash an Iggy Pop first press and then forget about it!?!
There’s so much killer stuff, it’s an understandable thing 😂
@@noblerecordswas it a white label?
@@Onteo1 Doubtful. Columbia wasn't doing that by then.
I have a Dylan hard rain lp (75) with timing strip and white label. I know they were selective with who got them into the 70s.
Are those 'Joy of a Toy' LPs US pressings or UK?
USA
And I knew nothing about Library labels.

"have", not "half".

That’s a myth that it ruins the records on the bottom. I don’t know where that idea came from but it’s 100% false.
