I believe you’ve installed the cabin filter upside down. The air flow arrow should be pointing down. As you can see when you removed the old filter, all of the debris were on the top side.
Wow, you have a sharp eye!! I will check it this evening and post a follow up reply. I certainly could have installed it with arrows up. Thank you so much! 🙏
@@campingina4wd I know it can be confusing because the plastic cover to get to the filter has a stamped arrow that says UP, but that only pertains to how to install the cover back on, not the actual direction of air flow. I remember because the very first time I changed the filter in my 4Runner, I specifically took a picture of the original filter with the arrow on the filter pointing down before I removed it.
You are absolutely correct! I just went out and checked. Just like you said, the arrow on the cover points up. I incorrectly installed the new filter with the arrows pointing up. Installed correctly now wirh filter arrows pointing down. Awesome comment from you. That makes my day. Thank you! (going to pin your comment for others) 👍
At the air box, your carbon mesh filter on the upper lid of air box. Is probably dirty. The TRD air box does not have that. Remove that carbon mesh filter, your mpg and accleration will improve dramatically. With no check engine light codes.
I recently received a quote from my local Toyota Dealership for a black front valance and TRD skid plate. Skid plate was $360, Valance was $308. I'll definitely try to go another route to save money, too.
That's a tough decision!! I think of those two items as specialty items and don't know if you can find them on sale or not (possibly a july 4th sale). I believe you have a newer 4Runner if memory serves. In that case I might budget and break into separate purchases. My old 2015... I could not justify them at this point. Also, I am in the same boat on the Sprinter. The two 275 KO2's I bought in Santa Fe on my last trip. Expensive... but I had to have them! 😁
Good to know. I like your Trail better than my SR5! Test drive one but it was more than my budget at the time. Yes, those 265 Michelin Defender LTXs are good tires. I think it's a matter of budget and priorities. I stopped upgrading my 4R to save for second vehicle. Thank you Lex. Have a good 4th!

Mine is a 2014 Trail Edition almost identical to yours. I run the 265 Michelin Defender LTXs (good road tire)

😮 I’ve been ripped off all these years?! I will be changing my own and have my daughter do the same. Thank you!
