I was at this game too and i remember going to newtown souths games in the 70's when only 2,000 would show up and thinking how great this ground would look with a full house with such a huge hill which remminds me of the old SCG hill. This was the only time i saw this size crowd over 18,000 if i recall and it was a great ground and win for us.
Joel Helmes without Souths in the league, you’ve gutted the heart of the league. Let’s make something clear Easts or Sydney Roosters don’t come close or par. All the foundation clubs should be playing the game. Period.

I didn't even exist back then because I was born in the year 2000 but it's great to see Rabbitohs play in the 80s!
Thanks for this, Roosters fan and great to see a young David Smith.
Excellent game
Went to this game and it was the only time I've seen henson park with a semi decent size crowd, it looked good.
Exactly lets get back to playing games at suburban grounds with atmosphere not empty concrete jungles
Thanks for putting these games up, as much as I don't like Souths it's good to see some classic league!! :)

8,972. Crowd at henson park.
@@clubberlang589 Sydney Roosters are a foundation club (1908), of course they’re on par with Souths!
