those drums seemed sketchy at first but once those e x t r a s p i c y c h o r d s came in i felt some arpeggios and a synth flute would make this a full song!
good vid as always :)
Ooooo a flute would be nice
This is the most helpful video for music on UA-cam tbh. thanks Simon much love
Your facial expressions & dance moves will always be the best part of every video!
Thanks for always posting the best videos Simon!!
This was huge for me. I always kinda struggled with 7th chords, but now that I know they all have to be based in the key of the current song, it makes a lot more sense.
We love you, Simon!
I’ve heard this chord progression in SIR’s song. Love it
Cheers my bro always teaching me new things everytime I watch your videos
🙏🙏
I'm from new Zealand keep up the good vidz
Please make something like Spirited away summers one day, sample it and make a trap beat with it.
That's dope
Lovin the new kit!
You are the only music theory guy for fll users. So keep making more music theory hacks videos

Thanks for this lessons and tutorial bro! I've learned a lot chord progressions in piano! I also starting producing my own songs and now I can apply this methods of yours! More power on your channel! One more thing! Are also a Pilipino? Mabuhay! :)
I like how you set it up so that every chord you play shakes the camera
That was nice. I'm probably gonna get melodics now
I needed this
I'm glad to hear
You are probably my favorite person
just so you know
Always great content servida! Thank you!
Easy way to find the 7th and 9th of a triad chord.
A 7th is always a note below the octave in the scale. For example, in C major scale, if we are making a C major triad C,E,G and we make it a 7th chord, we can just take the note just below the root of the chord in the scale. In the example it will be the B. If we are in C minor scale and we make a C minor 7th, we make the triad C, Eb, G and then take Bb, the 7th of the scale.
Same goes for 9th chords, except we take the note above the root. Cmaj9 in C major scale is C,E,G and then a D, the note above the root. Dmin9 in D minor scale is D,F,A, and then an E, the 9th of the scale.
Good One 🙏🏻💜
Great video! I think the G7 would sound better as a Bm7b5 though.
Thanks dad
You should try making something completely different, like try making hardstyle
This is such a great video
Nice.
Might not be too good, but I had an idea for a vid. Make the mixer tracks first, as in add in soundgoodizer and stuff before you make drums/melody. Bit tricky, but I think you could do it.
Learning chords feels like I'm learning skateboard trick names all over again
at least I'm now sure that these tricks I already do are really useful !
Good one!!!
Great video 👍!
Love you Simon! do a psychedelic boom bap beat
where is that e piano sound from ? I’m not sure if you said it, I may have missed it but oh my goodness it’s so crisp
Simon, do you have video about how to make melody to your chords?
i love u simon say it back.

Obs, its free
Missed your guides bro
I got more on the way
"Basement" makes me wish I would just release my own songs so people can know how i feel instead of simon telling everyone🙃 No seriously "Basement" is never coming off my playlist its just to good🔥
Ayyy your early, the vid is coming in a few day
Could you please show theory behind lofi beat
So when you alter the chords (extra spicy chords) you use notes that are not in your original scale right?
When Simon posts: WOW
TQ
for example we play from a major chord, we can add a seventh note to get a seventh chord, is that so?
Smooth with the keys!! Wish I was that good :(
Slowly getting there though the more I make music :D
Why would you go up the c major scale for the first chord extension when your root is F
Simon could you try to make Some jazz hop next video? If think your musical knowledge is wanted on all this trap.
YES
What would be the closest sound to this keys with stock plugins? Thanks in advance.
💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾🔥🔥
This is awesome can you show a tutorial how to make a catchy drum beat from beginners to intermediate to professional?
YES
I haven't watched but I already know melodics sponsored this one

I didnt flip anything 🤷♂️

Probably keyscape
4:00 sounds like the beginning of the Mario theme
How can you learn how to make great music so well without school? I have been working on it for a while now and its just so overwhelming idk where to start tbh I have a natural ear for music luckily but the producing side and how to tweak certain things to sound how I want and just general use of my fl studio daw I am big time struggling with. I have 2500$ in equipment that I have had for months and cant even use it because everytime I try I end up just getting overwhelmed and lost on how to make it sound the way I want and how to edit properly and all that. I cant even get both my speakers to work for some reason I have the same ones as Simon does and I have checked the connections and everything I just don't know if I am ever going to be able to get anywhere in making my own music without dumping loads of money into schooling... -_-….someone please help me with some sources or a contact to help get me through this noob stage lol
I just got a keyboard so I'm learning how to play lol. I have to get a plug in to use MIDI though so I'm just dabbling on it and looking at UA-cam videos to teach me. I'll become a professional piano player like Simon lmao
Good luck
Whenever I make beats, I end up making the same melody as before!!!!!
no i got that to
hi
could someone give me an opinion about my last beat ?
Fire melodie, but weak drums
@@nazirtounkara8158 ty ill try to do something better next time

You should try to remake LoFi beats from either memory or 1-2 listens of the song
Killing shit simon
should i just memorize every chord? i need to get another keyboard, usually just draw in fl studio. ohhh watch end of video
I just wanna see a beat 😀
Make a beat with beatbox
I got confused where you started talking about dominant and diminished chords, is there a proper rule on how to use dominant and diminished chords?
@shivam 9700 bruh ain't nobody trynna hear ur shit rn we trynna get our knowledge up in this thread to see if a captain comes and answers, I also got confused when he moved away from the scale if anyone could explain that as well
Why dids you put it in private
Scheduling error
Hehe
I always struggle with chords, Simon you came in clutch thanks!
No problem
anyone else hear mario at 4:00 ?
Make a beat with a sample but you could only listen to the sample and not the other instruments you use
🌊yo guys Don’t sleep on myy new song. I promise it’s lit🔥
no cause you said lit in 2019
yea no cringe
no
You made a few mistakes though! First when adding extensions to chords you don’t count from the key of the key you’re in, you count from the major key of the chord you’re playing (if you’d play an F7 when in the key of C you’d count 6 steps up from the F key, not the C key.) also, you talked about Fmaj7 and Em7 the same way, while they arent the same chords, the Em7 has a lowered 7th, which is the “blues way” of doing things, usually when talking about a 7th chord we use the flat seventh of the scale.
