- Welcome on in to the halfway point of our Lego legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom custom set showcase.
today we are taking a look at all 10 sets completed so far and revealing all the secrets, changes and future plans! alongside some awesome new renders!
our journey with part 2 will continue soon!
My instructions:
rebrickable.co...
#lego #nintendo #zelda #tearsofthekingdom
The cross play between each set was so clever. This feels so real even though it’s not official.
many thanks! that is what I'm going for, its all about mimicking the pro's, I may not have much drawing or building talent, but the ideas are all stuff I believe that could work, and staying with new-mould limitations and official lego rules whenever possible. Not to mention all the fun cross-play stuff all based off past lego gimmicks and ideas, but with a Zelda twist! 8 more customs to come for tears and plenty of ideas for the old games too!
It reminded me a lot of the old lego harry potter sets and the Minecraft sets in particular.
interesting interesting! I definilty try to take inspiration from all across the lego portfolio, I've watched a lot of speed builds to try and learn as many different techniques as I can! so its great that you can see some Minecraft and particularly Harry Potter DNA in there. much appreciated!
these are so incredible man, i've been trying for years to get that lego playset charm in my builds and you've perfectly captured that here
aw thanks! its what I base my whole project off so glad its appreciated! I hope we see playsets with that charm for real one day :)
what do you mean, these are all trash
@theWood-Man people are allowed opinions but why say something negative without an explanation why?
i just don't understand what their saying, the sets suck
@@theWood-Man hiya! Creator of the sets that suck here! Would love to understand more about what you feel is wrong here. So can I ask, who is they? What are they saying that you disagree with and why do the sets suck? I value your opinion here so would love it if you would take the time to share your thoughts,
Yeah how about instead we ask $300 for a Tree, will you be selling or uploading the instructions for them all btw?
not all but I'm working on it slowly, its a big job. Colgera and part of the sky island are up, but right now my priority is releasing the other 8 sets from this wave as videos!
Makes me want official sets even more
so true! I would love official sets!
you're in luck then!
@@snufkinsnufkin2528 it’s finally happened! I’m so happy
I'd only I knew back when I made this comment
I hope you consider designing more Zonai devices like the device machine or the Stewart Constructs.
The stewards appear in both the kohga set and the great sky island.
As for the dispenser yes I have one planned but it might not be what you expect!
I would buy these all if I could great job
me too mee too! glad you enjoyed :)
I don’t think the standard minifigure really fits the lizalfos. Lizalfos are more hunched, so they might work better as a larger mold like a velociraptor or classic dragon, or built out of parts.
built out of parts would be the next best compromise, I think velociraptor and dragon are way too big, given that link is only slightly smaller than one. Lego ends up being a stylised medium, meaning a lot of complicated shapes and fine scaling issues just have to be ignored in favour of play, I would personally rather the lizalfos could be posed, hold weapons, and look good fighting a mini figure than being a 1:1 replica,
You could use a newer velociraptor mold that you mess around with in the bricklink studio
@@seaneva778 might be worth a shot, feel like I need to learn more about 3D modelling! Seems like it could be helpful :)
Yeah these are so cool. I would buy these definitely. I think there was only a few Zelda sets once submitted for Lego Ideas, including the stable, but wasnt accepted. Please Zelda needs to be a Lego theme!
its true! 7 sets made it to 10000 supporters on lego ideas, and none accepted, now we have a rumoured lego deku tree but I am holding out hope for a playset theme! would love to see Zelda sets, hence why ive made 90 proof of concepts! with another 60 still to make
"the finale of part 1 of the 8th wave"
me: sweating profusely trying to figure out where in the series i am
I can make it more confusing :)
im doing 9 waves but because I was super slow I only did 1, 2, 3 and half of 4 before tears of the kingdom came out meaning I jumped to the designated 8th wave because I had planned to finish 5, 6 and 7 before that point. TOTK sets have to be wave 8 because in the canon timeline for this project I rely on molds and parts not seen until this point.
As this wave is 18 sets instead of 13 like normal it was too much to do in one go so I split it into 10 and 8 meaning this is part 1 of the 8th wave but is actually only the 4th full wave to appear on the channel
:) thanks for letting me be confusing
@@octanethermoplastic that is indeed more confusing! 😂 but also i'm very invested, this seems like an incredibly fun and ambitious project!
very ambitious yes! I'm having fun with it :) glad you are enjoying
hire this man LEGO
oh I'm sure they have their own plans that they don't need me for! appreciate the faith in my abilities though!
i wish i could buy this
me too.... me too... maybe one day we will have real playsets!
If anyone of these gets made as a real set i hope it would be lookout landing just such a great build and minifig selection also could u pls do a tutorial on how u make these they're awesome
Lookout landing would be pretty cool I will admit! personally I would choose either the great sky island, stormwind arc or a set from part 2 that you haven't seen yet! but there is a lot of cool ideas in lookout landing!
tutorial is on the plans for the next few months time. if you had to choose would you prefer a guide explaining how I make my decisions or a behind the scenes as I design a new custom? what's more useful/interesting?
@octanethermoplastic idk both would be cool probably behind the scenes of designing a new custom tho
@@Boundy05 fantastic, looks like we are on the same page, I started design process for 2 new customs today and have been filming clips as I work on them. Naturally I have to finish and release these sets before I can do the behind the scenes video. But I promise it’s coming eventually. These things can take a while though!
You say that this is the eighth wave, but I can only find one to three and four
yes, so this is canonically the 8th wave to release but because designing sets takes a while I have done them out of order, meaning that I will be going back and doing waves 5,6,7 and 9 after finishing my totk sets. The numbering is confusing because every set from all waves has been planned and written down, meaning that I know what characters and new moulds are coming in each set. it's the only way I can manage it. I hope this makes sense
i’d buy all of these and i’m not even a huge lego guy
Nice! I'm always interested so If I may ask, what is drawing you to a potential product like this? is it just because its Zelda, the interconnectivity or it just being cool. I think you have a really interesting perspective here :)
@@octanethermoplasticyeah i’m a sucker for zelda stuff and i do love the interconnected aspect too
I wish we had more Zelda merch in general, especially stuff like this, it feels like all we get is high tier collectors stuff which is beautiful, but more stuff for kids that's more fun and whimsical would be very cool
Why are you not working for Lego?
because they wouldn't want me :p But also I prefer to keep work and hobbies separate, which keeps the lego collecting and designing relatively stress free and fun!
@@octanethermoplastic You are very good 👍. I understand that about not turning your hobbies into work. It can destroy it.
thank you :)
The inclusion of both the fuse and the ultrahand abilities in actual play blew my mind. Makes perfect sense for Lego and is just SO, so fun!
Also, Rauru mini figure is amazing.
Thank you so much! The inclusion of the key game abilities works really well in lego form, or at least that was my vision! to me the synergy is really very strong, but im always glad when people notice the extra bits like this as so much care goes into thinking about how lego might tackle it, or how can this feel more Zelda. Only one missing is recall although I feel kids could act that out themselves. And I suppose one more ascend feature would have been nice! apart from the one between secret cave discovery and lookout landing that is!
I love lego Rauru too! I wish he would come in a real set someday!
I would buy EVERY. LAST. ONE. THOSE ARA SICK MAN! Keep up the good work!
every one? nice! me too, I would love to see a playset theme that covers this franchise, it would be a shame to only see 18+ sets like the rumoured great deku tree! we could see so many more characters and locations that would make wonderful sets!
so many exciting sets to be made on the channel in the meantime! lots to come
I’ve loved all of these! Got some ideas for the next wave, ofc The Fire Temple and marbled Ghoma and maybe a death mountain and Goron city, the teased seized construct battle, thunder temple and maybe Gerudo city with a Molduga could be a fun idea also maybe the light dragon could be cool to see in Lego, and maybe Hateno village or Tarrey town where link can build a house
fire temple, gerudo and the seized construct are sets I'm happy to confirm for part 2! your pretty close with another goron based set, although maybe not quite what you might have expected! molduga is being saved for a later wave and you are spot on with the light dragon! that leaves 3 complete surprises, that were not guessed at all! all things considered it won't be too long till you get to find out.
70.000 views, congrats man, well deserved. Hylian just asked in the discord what your impact on the lelda scene is and this video is one amongst a big variety of examples why your work and your efforts are essential to keep the lego zelda community alive 🎉🎉🎉
70k is crazy.... tbh I try not to think about it, but I am super glad that the css has been inspirational to others ideas and lelda dream. It's all just been about providing a concept for lelda, and what that could look like! Both these franchises are so special and im so happy that I can share what I would love to see from their cross over!
Wow. My favourite is the Zonai device playset. I'm actually sad that I can't have it right now... Great work man!
Excellent and underrated choice! The zonai set gives so many opportunities for fun extra builds and expanded play, as you may have seen in sets like the depths yiga base I just did, it truly enriches the other custom sets!
glad you are enjoying though, hopefully we will see real sets one day but I'll keep designing for now!
something i would like lego to make if they ever make a theme of zelda is a pretty cheap set of the fight in botw of the moblin in zora bridge
it is an iconic moment! it might not be what you are imagining but I have something based off that sequence coming as part of wave 4 of this project (it will come after the remaining 5 totk customs are released + 2 more sets)
12:14 wait a minute.. THATS NOT HOW THE ROCKETS WORK!!
correct! imagine the studs are part of the grate texture, play is more important than perfect accuracy :)
Amazing sets! If Lego ever does a line of Zelda sets like they did with animal crossing, I’d love to see sets on a bunch of Zelda games!
Of course lookout landing and the stormwind ark from tears of the kingdom, but you could also have a set based off of when you first become wolf link and have to escape hyrule castle’s sewers in twilight princess, and one based off of clock town in majora’s mask! There’s so many possibilities, I’m surprised Lego hasn’t made an official line of Zelda sets yet!
me too! my biggest dream for a lego Zelda licence is one that crosses all the games! growing up with the classics means I won't be satisfied until as many iconic characters, enemies and moments are in the brick form. This video covered my tears of the kingdom sets, but this project has covered a lot of the other games too. over 60 sets based off everything from oot to skyward sword can be found on the channel.... and the best part is im only halfway done, so there's plenty more to look forward too :)
clock town is in the works too! hopefully later this year!
@@octanethermoplastic oh cool! I’ve been obsessed with Zelda recently thanks to TotK and twilight princess, so I’ll check them out!
These are all amazing! Now I’m just disappointed that we don’t have something like this already
hopefully if the deku tree sells well this September maybe playlets will follow, a full theme has always been my dream for the last 13 years so while I'm beyond excited I have my fingers crossed for more than just 1 icon set! glad you enjoyed the sets! 8 more on their way :)
@@octanethermoplastic I’m really hoping for a ucs botw/totk hyrule castle after the Deku tree
@@theironduck7102 it would be cool! Hopefully that would be what comes next although I could see them going another route too.
i loved this as a zelda fan and a long time lego builder, i have a suggestion also, what about a shrine?
great concept! I have already done a shrine interior as part of my rearangable dungeon line based off botw. I am not 100% sure how I would do the outside in a way that could be interesting for kids, and that's different from what other people have done... but I'll give it some more thought!
Amazing job with the first part of the wave! The King Kleeok is probably my favorite so far! I think it looks just fantastic!
yeah! the king is great, I really don't know how I keep surviving these creature sculpts, I worry about them the most but people seem to like how they turn out! Part 2 is rapidly approaching now!
I want these so badly! They are so cool and your channel is extremely underrated! I need Lego to make totk sets and hire you now.
glad you liked them :) more totk and Zelda customs coming all the time, although I don't think they'll hire me, I hope they will make Zelda sets!
This was the first video of yours that got recommended to me and I loved it! Definetely keep it up ^^ Although I personally think you speak a little to fast 😅
oops! I must get a bit excited and just start talking faster. will try to slow things down a bit where I can :)
Bro these are sick, also how's the hyrule castle coming along
Thanks a lot! As for the castle, glad you asked! Since the last update I’ve been finishing up some detail work and begininning on the right side. It looks a little bare and I haven’t been able to add the east passage yet. But the big win is that the docks is enclosed and the back right corner base layer is getting close to completion. Next update is a fair few weeks out unless I change my mind as I want to try run some tests for the library placement first but I’m really hopeful that I will meet my goals I set for the project in 2024
YAYAYAYYAYA LOVE THESE Im especially the first one I don’t know why but I love it so much
Aeocuda ambush is a fantastic choice. Small sets are always a lot of fun and make for a great time! lots of little features and characters to expand your play!
AAAAAHHHHHH SO GOOD!!!
Yeah! always good to see people enjoying, plenty more to come!
i love these ideas, the sets are beautiful and I would definitely love to see Lego make these!
Glad you like them! Still got a few left to release and I have plenty from the classic games too, hopefully lego will give us a full playset theme soon!
We Need it!
absolutely we do!
I think the Gloom Hands would look better with the curved tooth pieces for the ends of the fingers instead of hot dogs
@@maxinehowland8246 worth a try, they are hard to get in dark red, I’ll look into it
I love that frox. It's absolutely stunning
Thank you! its always a fun challenge to build organically, and it scares me! so such praise is wonderful to hear!
I'm preparing the obsidian variant at the moment (sort of like when lego recolours a set and releases it again!) don't think I'll make a video just for that though...
PLEASE RELEASE THESE!!!! these sets are so awesome I wish I could have one!
I would if I could.. unfortunately these are only custom models and we can hope that lego might one day produce sets similar to these concepts! I do have some of the instructions for my builds up on rebrickable, but alas that is the only way I know how to share these with all of you :)
I’ve been looking all over for some good Zelda sets and finally found some here. Great job!
many thanks! its much appreciated, I love sharing this project with you and its always great to see people discover our backcateloge of 80 Zelda sets, and im only half way through!
I wish that they are gona put every outfit from at least botw in lego zelda if more comes
I would love to see that variety! I don't know if we would see them all... but the big ones like snow quill, hylian set, climbers set, ancient armour and so on would be amazing to have in lego form!
These look really good!! I would love if Lego made Totk sets like these.
me too! although most of all I'd love sets the cover the whole series of games!
Those sets are really interesting.
Much appriciated, I love to try and show some lego style concepts, I may not be a great designer or artist, but its all about showing the potential for a lego Zelda theme :)
im guessing you're happy with yesterdays announcement lol
So very happy, I made very high pitch noises
Lego should hire you
That’s very kind but I don’t think I’m quite good enough for their standards!
Most of their sets barely even compare to most MOCs lmao @@octanethermoplastic
As in lego sets < Mocs or lego > Mocs
They're concep- SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY
I'm with you there, If these were real, I'd be broke.... dream come true to see lego Zelda playsets! hopefully one day
I. Want. To. Buy. These. Omfg, they look amazing 🤩
glad you like them, I wish there were real Zelda playsets too. maybe one day!
@@octanethermoplastic I mean, LEGO should LITERALLY HIRE YOU, I will SUE THEM IF THEY DONT…just kidding, no kid (except for Max Mayfield (Stranger Things)) has a lawyer
We need those Sets, but Not from Lego … blubrixx btw…
I must say, I don’t inquire get what you mean, i can’t see a scenario where Nintendo splits their ip between 2 construction toys. Seems illogical to me
There should be a depths set for 4 mini boss fight areas
Also for Gorons you can use a similar thing to axl from next knights
with the bosses included in different sets would it not be cooler to build the arena out of your own parts?
that's true, it would give a more accurate buff shape!
That’s true… but the ones in these sets are either Minifig size or a bit smaller. I was thinking like the size of polybag sets
@@seaneva778 I see! A polybag series could be fun, or they could be advent calendar builds? Or is that too small?
Id buy it all no question's asked
me too, me too. Hopefully one day we will get some real ones!
Hey, these sets look amazing and I have also been looking for some Zelda sets. Do you plan an adding more instructions to your rebrickable?
certainly! I am adding colgera this week in fact! with wind waker's big octo and hopefully a few more before the year ends! just depends o how fast I buy the parts. I will do community posts whenever a new one drops!
@@octanethermoplastic oh amazing, cause these sets are truly magnificent! Are you talking aboout the colgera with the wind temple? Or just the colgera alone?
@@qexzyy2832 just colgera for now, and it will be free
@@octanethermoplasticok, will be keeping an eye on it
the title of this video gave me a stroke
my apologies, I do try to make it clear that these are customs, but I still have to get the point across. hope you enjoy the sets, got 80 on the channel and many more to come. oh and we will be covering the official great deku tree set too :)
I need the stormwind ark! 😭
Me too, Me too! it feels like a classic lego pirate ship and a cool Zelda thing at the same time!
This video was good except for the Sonia and rauru minifuigures
Awesome, always appriciate great feedback. What’s the problem with rauru. Also Sonia is not in this video?
@@octanethermoplastic glad to give feedback. Nothing wrong with your minifig of rauru i just happen to loathe his character. Didnt watch the FULL video so i missed the sonia MIA lol silly mee
she's coming! the rest of the 18 customs are launching on the channel over the coming weeks/months. Her set is amongst them :)
these are cool but his hand is wrong it suppose to be the right hand
It may appear that way but it’s not the case! You will notice that it changes arm between shots, I’m mirroring my original drawing to show more action in the poses, the original drawing has the right arm but some sneaky editing makes it look incorrect!
ok that makes cense @@octanethermoplastic
$100 for the biggest one
Unfortunately not, if this set was real which it is not yet. It would retail for probably nearly double that. We can dream of course!
Are them purchasable?
unfortunately not in a true sense! these designs are custom sets, meaning I made them to show what lego Zelda could look like, I do have instructions for some of the builds over on rebrickable but as far as selling the models or figures. They cannot be bought. Lets just hope that lego makes there own lego Zelda sets soon!
Wow! I really didnt think somebody woukd be able to do this! Its incredible, congrats on this amazing job
glad you liked it! just my humble little project! plenty more to come not just from tears of the kingdom but all the classic games too :)
these are awesome man!! at 11:07, the rauru arm is on two different sides between the interchangeable link torsos haha i don't remember which side is right, but i just wanted to let you know! such great concepts tho.
@@joeman-v1d glad you enjoyed! It’s been a huge undertaking but it’s a great project. Regarding the arm, it is Link’s right arm, the effect you are seeing is just me mirroring my drawing to better fit in the render, it saves me from drawing multiple poses for characters, which seems lazy but usually you can’t notice… only when there’s a key detail that should be on one side!
@@octanethermoplastic oh dude i didn't expect a response that's awesome! i also didn't mean to come across nitpicky, i just understand as someone who takes my own work/art seriously, i could tell from the video you care deeply for your projects as well so just wanted to make sure you noticed! also it's not lazy at all, i hate drawing lego figures more than real people lol
@@joeman-v1d your all good! It’s a legitimate question of accuracy and it just means you were paying attention to the customs :) figure drawing is hard but for this cast it’s mostly numbers, over the course of this video and my other 50 Zelda custom sets… it’s something like 400 characters drawn. Any questions at all , it’s never any trouble, feel free to ask :)
@@octanethermoplastic i love the quality and effort you put into your customs. i hope to see some of these characters in official sets someday! especially with the reveal of the deku tree. but can only pray they look as dope as the ones you've drawn up haha.
Oh they will look better than mine I'm sure! its the variety of characters that I am after
Just wow ❤❤❤
glad you enjoyed! its always great to see reactions to my little project!
I honestly think King Gleeok should be bigger. It is a huge enemy so I think a bigger build would do it justice.
fair enough, as a set he was mostly limited by the price I set his set at. I knew not every set could be a 1000+ piece model. so I chose lookout landing and the storm wind ark to be the biggest this time! maybe the gleeok could get a huge remaster one day!
They’re great
Thanks as always! These were definitely some of the most interconnected of the lot!
These are great sets, but the one I’d want most is King Gleeok, for that classic green Link.
For sure! hero of the wild is great, hopefully if we saw real sets then we would have stuff based off the classic games too so there would be no shortage of green tunic, but if not, then its even more important that we get the tunic of the wild!
incredible
thanks! looking forward to revealing more sets!
I’m gonna make this outta my peaces
all of them? I can help you out a bit as free instructions for colgera and the great sky island are available on rebrickable.com!
@@octanethermoplastic oh thank you idk if all of them but somthing like what your building
that sounds really cool!
I would use Novas Hair from Lego Friends for Princess Zelda in Tears
that would be an excellent choice as soon as they recolour it in yellow. it has more volume compared to my choice, however lacks some braiding, both fantastic options until we get a real figure!
Dude this insane. that you can build some of the most detailed structures and entities in lego form is amazing
Thanks a ton! I won't say it's easy or that they always look quite right, but I try my best! organic creatures are by far the hardest, they scare me a lot, but its also great fun to try and shrink stuff like the great sky island, deciding what's important enough to stay, what gets cut and what gets manipulated, adjusting scale to be fun while still looking iconic!
Now I remembered I want a Lego Zelda theme
absolutely! and this is just the tip of the iceberg of potential too, ive done 80 ish sets like this now and the classic games hold just as many opportunities! and I think there are another 70-90 possible ideas too! the perfect partnership for lego playsets ever!
2:17 ... wut
don't know what you mean? couldn't find a mistake or audio error at this timestamp?
These boxarts look insanely cool
thank you! I know they could be better but I try my best :) glad you like it! they look crazy all stacked up
@@octanethermoplastic Yea my dream is to see a lego store with boxes and boxes of loz sets. Hopefully one day
we share that dream! one day I hope to see it come true!
Soooo...Rebrickable Colgera when?
Soon! no modifications needed outside of suggesting alternatives for the wings as they turned out to be quite rare. I finally got around to uploading great sky island instructions today, which was a small challenge given the floaty nature of that build, hopefully colgera will go much smoother. Smoother than the big Octo sat on my desk anyway!
