I believe none of the proxy services can offer the "change value" option anymore due to changes in Japanese law/policy. Neokyo got rid of that option as well so had to pay hefty customs on my last shipment. And still no EMS option 😠 I thought about breaking shipments into smaller ones but that doesn't make sense -- customs is a % so that number will be the same no matter how it's split but having only 1 large shipment means paying the packing & brokerage fee once and saving on shipping (1 bigger box < multiple smaller boxes). It definitely sucks for us though 😭
I'm still watching the video but wanted to say that I'm going to try Japonica Market for my next Mercari Japan haul if you want to check that out! ❤ I tried buyee a few times but they just ask too many fees for very basic things and I saw that Japonica Market asks 500 yen per order like most of these proxies now, but they don't ask for any other fees at all. they have 30 day storage and they also let you change the value and all that, but they do recommend against it when I inquired via email.
I just tried out sendico and found them to be really good, the fee is the standard 500¥ but i believe they do let you change the value as well, at least for now!
Japan post (EMS, Airmail) hasn't been shipping to Canada since like Nov 2020 unfortunately. I remember shipping out 2 packages from neokyo around that time and 1 barely made the sudden cut off and 1 I had to pay for fedex. You might be able to find places that offer surface mail (boat) but that's about it. Really sick of paying dhl/fedex for the past 2 years but who knows when they'll open up again D:

you can use sendico! with sendico you can choose ems i think and you can change the value for customs
