Definately agree on not to draw only quick drawings. I have experienced hitting a wall that restricts me to draw a well detailed finished art work! And i cannot make a proper finished artwork because i only focused on drawing quick.
Thank you for sharing with us 😊🙌
100% ! agree with this
I might be in the same boat😔
@@Octoboobs but then you know what to do
@@Janos.Artzonetrue, thank you. From now on, quality over quantity in my work🫡
This is such a honest and nice reaction ! Someone should send this to sam :DDDD
Thank you 😊🙌
It was a little refreshing to hear the Disney art reaction. I genuinely find the style appealing and tend to enjoy it but if there is one thing I can say I don't need to produce myself (except for little fun style exercises) it is Disney stuff. Sam's style does skew that way for youtube and instagram but it's interesting that in his sketch time that he considers his room for personal growth, his style melts away (the Disney aspects) and he tries to sink towards realism, probably because that's where he recognizes he needs to improve representationally. It's also just different to creating generically appealing ladies for youtube and instagram, so he probably derives fun from the variety.
I think when he said it doesn't matter if he likes the reference that pops up, it means that he didn't find them appealing personally or attractive on an instinctive level; in some way, it seems as though Sam was perhaps trying to confront the world as it is, rather than only the way he likes. It can help someone get out of their comfort zone to grow a little by choosing a subject they wouldn't normally draw -- and again, I think Sam may suffer from being good at and popular for producing generically appealing art, and because it has become his brand to draw pretty photo studies of cute girls and rarely men, taking the guard rails off when deciding on a sketch reference probably feels freeing. So in a way he does like the references that he 'doesn't like', because people who aren't conventionally attractive are also usually composed of a lot of interesting shapes and challenges.
Good video! Thanks.
Very interesting and honest observaton !!! Thank you so much for the comment. Was interesting to read your thoughts here. Appreacite it :) !
I have been a commercial window splash artist my whole life. Now I am retired and teach window painting online. Now I can study drawing, it's a dream come true. Money and making a living is not a concern now. Breaking a lifetime of drawing habits is exciting.
Ha...I am guilty of "lazy hair"😅 I'm gonna take your advice

@@ScotCampbellwindowpainter good for you sir 🙌😊☀️
thanks for making this video, I really like how artists discuss their different pov on arrt which open up my mind more!
Happy to hear this and thanks for sharing your thoughts here 🙏😊🙌☀️
I really like Sam's drawings and his style. From my point of view, drawing is not just about capturing everything as accurately and correctly as possible. It's much more about expression, emotion and fun and I see that in his work.
It's comparable to music. You might play your instrument perfectly, but it might not pick you up emotionally or it might even bore you.
First of all thank you for your comment :) !
While I understand and respect your perspective on the importance of expression, emotion, and fun in art, it's crucial to recognize that there are various approaches to appreciating and creating art. The comparison to music is particularly insightful, as it highlights the subjective nature of artistic experiences.
On one hand, there's undeniable value in the emotional connection and enjoyment derived from art. Sam's drawings may indeed evoke a unique and personal response, transcending the confines of technical precision. Art is, after all, a powerful medium for self-expression, and the ability to convey emotions through a distinct style is a commendable skill.
However, it's equally important to acknowledge the diverse viewpoints within the artistic community. Some individuals may find fulfillment and appreciation in the meticulous and accurate representation of subjects. Technical proficiency can be a form of artistry in itself, demanding years of practice and discipline.
In essence, the beauty of art lies in its subjectivity and the multitude of ways it can be interpreted and appreciated. Different artists employ distinct techniques and styles, each contributing to the rich tapestry of the art world. The keey is to appreciate the diversity of approaches, recognizing that both the emotional resonance found in expressive art and the precision achieved through technical skill have their places in the broader spectrum of artistic expression.
Ultimately, the value of art is inherently personal, and what resonates with one person may not resonate with another. Embracing this diversity enriches the artistic experience, fostering a more inclusive and open-minded appreciation for the myriad forms that creativity can take.
Truly one of the reactions of all time

Thank you so much Jerry for your nice comment really appreaciate it :)
Can you clarify what you meant by “add a second plane” when you were talking about the glasses he drew?
Yes so imagine u see a box frontal u see 1 plane. Now if we rotate that box we should be able to see all 3 planes communicate 3dimentionallity. Sometimes we draw things flat when we forget to add the second or third plane of “the box” in that case the glasses
Symmetry tool for digital artists, I think that's what he meant

Could you elaborate on the part where you said he wasn’t working with shapes? Because I know the concept and agree that’s the way to go, and even recognize that Sam (as many lightyears as he is ahead of me) doesn’t do it much even when considering his highly stylized faces…but the specific drawings you where looking at when you said that looked much more volume-based and well done than the ones he showed before or even after (with a couple exceptions)
Okay so obviously a comment section is a bit limiting to explain it so I try to say it as simple as possible. When ever u draw something you have to consider to draw things correct in perspective but also to draw nice shapes. What you ultimately want to achieve is that u could cut out a single square of ur drawing at that this would still look nice in shapes and composed. Shapes are made out of lines. Most people lack to so that they are missing clarity in them. So their lines are neither a straight curve or s-curved one. They are in between or too unclear. The first step to nice shapes is to be conscious about the lines you make.
@@Janos.Artzone So basically even tho the volumes in those portraits were somewhat correct, the lines Sam used to describe them were too focused on simply being “the lines that describe those volumes” but didn’t have the flow necessary to really capture the originals’ characteristics…while also not being perfect enough at describing the volumes that you could say “well at least the perspective is absolutely right”?
Lol Janos already cringing at the beginning of Sam’s video.
😂😂😂😂
Does everything need a reaction? Like what's the point of reacting to this other than to say "im better than you and this is why"?
Hi ekulwarm I totally I agree with you. Not everything needs a reaction ! As mentioned I did this one on request :) I guess because I just released a video about the same topic a few days before. My intention and message here is definitly not a little bit towards a skill comparison. I do respect and like sams content so no worries. Thank you so much for carrying ! :)
I requested the reaction ! So if you be angry towards me please. I wanted to know what Janos´s oppinion was on his video and he was so kind to react. I guess I did not realize that people would jump on him to defend sam. Sorry >_
all good no worries :)@@characterdesignchannel5452
well, it's up to you to watch or not to watch
To me this provides valuable insight, i've watched Janos's video on PewDiePie today because im sitting here wit a fresh sketchbook, pencils and markers since i got inspired by Pewd's video getting back into a passion i've abandoned for years. While Pewd's video motivated me to get back into it, the reaction i saw provided me with the insight to not go aimlessly drawing faces but to actually think about setting certain goals for myself that i want to achieve. To me this doesn't feel like a "i'm better than you" but rather like a "have you tried approaching it from this perspective". I'm only scratching the surface here having watched only two videos, but it definetly helped me to find a certain focus on how to approach learning drawing again with what limited time i have.
