Cards are so beautiful...I'm impressed with what the Better Press does. Kudos to you for branching out and sharing with the wider crafting world. Also congrats on a successful adoption. 😊
Your coloring is amazing!!!!!!! I just bought the betterpress. It’s supposed to be delivered later this week. I am super excited to see how it performs in person!!!! Can’t wait for my “awe” moment. 😁
I like all three cards-I forget about watercolor pencils. Welcome to the family Dixie. You are going to be living your best life. There is a whole lot of lovin in your new family.❤️
There are two cleaners that I have heard recommended for this. One is the archival ink cleaner by rangers since Ranger makes the BetterPress inks and the other one is by a company called LDRS. I prefer the one by LDRS as it is not oily. The other one is a bit oily. Use a microfiber cloth to clean, do not use alcohol or baby wipes because they can actually cloud parts of your machine and you don’t want that to happen.
I too got a Betterpress but only recently tried it out. I definitely think it’s amazing. Even with my Platinum 6 machine and all 3 shims under magnetic plate, it really doesn’t feel like it’s doing much of anything as it goes through, but it works! Different inks work, you just have to try. Usually the difference is whether the lines blur/bleed a little. I did purchase a pack of cotton cardstock from Amazon that was recommended as a cheaper option than the Spellbinder cotton. I can’t really see or feel a difference when using it. With Dixie and her chewing, if you spray vinegar on the corner, it can deter them because it’s vinegar and tastes gross 😂. But obviously won’t hurt her.
I have the Betterpress and love it. I did take a class through Pinkfresh which helped a LOT. There is so much you can do with it and the best part (to me) is that the plates work even better for foiling than the glimmer plates. Your cards are super cute! I haven't tried using my alcohol markers with it yet so I'm putting that on the list. I'd love to see the new pup! Thanks for another fun video!
Beautiful cards!! I use my hot foil plates and can do almost the same thing!! I can press them into the card and get almost the same. I am not buying anything else for a while as I have things that I have not use and have had them for a long time.I am glad you are enjoying it.
For whatever reason, the better press won’t feel “tight” rolling through the machine. The reason for the better press in my opinion is to get the look of the old time engraved invitations. It is a detailed elegant look that is next level. It’s hard to explain the beauty of these cards.
I have fund that as log as my dye based ink is not water refractive IE distress ink most will work with letter press plats, I have had excellent results with Pink Fresh Studios inks. Also any pigment/ hybrid works well too. I do have the Betterpress and Glimmer system from Spellbinders but I am also able to get really good letter press using my ancient Big shot using shims and Sizzix Emboss & Transfer Set
Looks great! I have the Glimmer Machine and barely use it, so I will not be rushing to get the Better Press machine. Of course it will work fine with your SU machine as it is the Platinum 6 machine with a different label. If you notice, the new Scout is the SU mini with a longer plate system, the Spellbinders paper cutter is the same as SU, just a different color. Keep enjoying the new products you are finding. Thanks for sharing the beautiful cards.
Very nice! FYI -- all shims go under the gray magentic pad. If you have thicker paper, like the double weight, you would remove appropriate number of shims. I have used dye inks, SU inks, Versa Clair, pigment, etc. Just experiment. Many inks will work.
I had no idea what a better press was or did, thought it was more foiling type machine. So thanks so much for this instructional video. Very intriguing, but not in my budget currently. I bow to your coloring - so very pretty, I may have to get some advanced colored pencils, I mean several steps up from Crayola. LOL.
Copic markers are a no-no because the cotton paper can literally SUCK the ink out of your markers. Use water color markers. Re-stamping also may not work because it can shift a little bit. My experience is I get a blurred effect.
You have to see it in person to really realize how beautiful it is!
YES! Stay sane & create! Very true.
So glad you demonstrated this I’ve been on the fence, it’s on my wishlist now thanks

Hi Debra
All 3 shims are supposed to be under the magnetic plate if you are using the Betterpress paper. If you use a thicker paper, use fewer shims

Love the cards! ❤ I can totally relate to adding new family members: dogs AND cats! 😮🥰

Love your cards. Congrats on the new dog 🐶
You can use other inks and other paper. Watch Artsy Girl she has done a lot of stuff with this
Thank you for this information
Thanks for the tips
The Better Press plates foil beautifully, too, if you have a Glimmer machine. They are much lighter than regular foiling plates.
Oh I was so hoping you would! I'm still a bit on the fence but thinking about ordering a better press plate to play with LOL

I agree totally and photos and video don’t do them justice

I watched Jenifer McGuire and you can use other inks versa fine and Mermento. And other colors 🎨

Get the prisma color pencils they are great 😊

Your shim goes under the magnetic.
Thank you 🙏🏻
