I was very much impressed by this video telling us about the traditional sweets and snacks and rice items at this Lakshmi Vilas mess at Perugamani opp railway gate.As you rightly said this type of eateries must be encouraged to prosper for future generation to taste traditional tasting food items. At this juncture I will mention OVS on Raja street Coimbatore. Original Viswanathan Iyer Sweets who made and sold every day fresh jangri and badam halwa.One had to book prior order before buying. In Kozhikode just at the Palayam Rd Tali Branch road intersection, thre is an eatery DEVI SAHAYAM. Now the third generation is running this Brahmins hotel. Located opp Kannika Parameswari Temple.

Thanks Brother, this was a famous restaurant in my school days 1977-83. We travel from Trichy to eat there. The teak wood fence like partition near cash counter and interior tiles were very unique. Ghee thosai , poori masala, bonda and coffee were top selling signature dishes . My uncle Kanan, his elder brother advocate Jaganathan lived in nearby Paliyur were regular customers here. Those days, Most of the people eat breakfast and lunch meals here then shift their camp to Thiyagarajan snack s stall in the evening. Please try tiffin item at Trichy Mayavaram Lodge near Teppakulam at vanapattari Street and lunch meal at Madura lodge in the same vicinity. You can experience the lost tradition and feel same taste of yesteryears Lakshmi Vilas Hotel in Perugamani. Thanks again for this classic episode and it was hard for me to control my emotions. Pleasant past is like miser’s treasure we will keep it safe in our heart. Thanks again for rekindling all our good old memories. Take care , stay blessed.

I suggest you to visit sri seetharama vilas in Aduthurai , located on main Kumbakonam to mayiladuthurai SH just before Aduthurai busstand when you come from Kumbakonam. They are very old traditional hotel (like mangalambika hotel Kumbakonam) , recently renovated also....
