France is certainly one of the most geographically and culturally diverse countries in Europe. There are huge differences in cuisine, lifestyle, architecture, dialect/language, landscape and flora, especially between the far north and the far south. When you compare Artois or Brittany with Provence or the Languedoc, it's hard to imagine that they are part of the same country.
Btw, you might want to check out Portugal. I think it's massively underrated.

Others have mentioned this and I agree: [mainland] France is a very diverse country, especially considering it's size. And it's not only the landscapes. Architecturally too, as in its regional architecture. There are towns in Brittany (country's northwest) that look nothing like towns in Alsace (the northeast), which look nothing like towns in Provence and the French Riviera (the southeast), which look nothing like the Basque Country (the southwestern corner), which look nothing like the towns in Ile de Re and around La Rochelle (the west), which look nothing like towns in Savoy or the French Alps area (the east), which look nothing like the towns in French Flanders and Artois (the north). And very roughly speaking, the northern half or third of the country has distinctively high-pitched roofs covered either in slate, pantiles or clay flat tiles like you find throughout northern Europe and the southern half or so of the country has distinctively low-pitched roofs covered in terra cotta barrel tiles like you can find throughout southern Europe.

You can be alone in a forest surrounded by huge centuries old trees growing around amazing cromlech and menhirs and dolmens. This is amazing and quite magical. You can find them almost everywhere. some menhir are almost 10meters high. And lots of beautiful medieval cities, like Locronan, Rochefort-en-Terre and so on. Britannia is a really great place.

The real secret to enjoy France is to travel in the countryside, far away from Paris (great, but too expensive, and too crowded), and explore every corner and remote place...
As a French man, I had the luck to visit many places of every region of my country. I think my whole life will not be enough to explore everything, but my advice for you would be :
    - take a map of France, then draw some kind of a huge U on it :
    - the top of the left "arm" of the U should be in Etretat city
    - the bottom of the U should be in Chambord castle
    - the top of the right "arm" of the U should be in Nancy
Then, everything located west, south or east from this huge U is just amazing (landscapes, culture, architecture, restaurants, ...). It depends the kind of place you like (ocean, mediterranee sea, old mountains, high mountains, museums, castles, etc...)
The only drawback is that you have to rent a car, and have a lot of time.
PS : My personal hidden gem in France is the Cantal aera (very old huge volcano, a great place for hiking among Salers cows and flowers with incredible landscapes. Just enter "Salers" or "Cantal" or "Puy Mary" in Google image, you will see what I mean). But Finistere coast is not far away in my heart, and of course Provence area, Périgord area, etc etc...

    - The Napoleon tomb is at "Les Invalides" in Paris. A former military hospital that has a Panthéon (Paris) vibe or Capitol with its massive and round roof.
    - He mentionned Versailles right before you just started to talk about it lol. Versailles (château de Versailles) is located in the city of Versailles next to Paris. Honestly the gardens doesn't look that cool (imo, from what I've seen in vlogs) but in the castle itself there is a lot of history and since you are a Napoleon fan, you would like to see the room full of Napoleon generals/Marshals portraits :)
It was indeed built under Louis XIV (14), the Sun King and is probably the biggest in the world.
    - Indeed, we are lucky to have so many landscapes, cultures and History in such a limited place. France is a bit smaller than Texas.
And again you didn't see anything yet. He didn't talk about the South-West region (except for the Pyrennees) nor the non-european regions of France. And there are a lot of WW1 historical places in the North-East.

The glacier flows downwards like water, except really, really slowly as new snow and ice forms at the top and melts at the bottom.
But you can see that it doesn't reach as far down as it used to, because it's melting faster then it grows now.
Basically any exposed rock there shows you where the glacier used to be in the last few generations.
As vegetation would have reclaimed anything really old.

There are a lot of châteaux and fortresses in southern France but the architectural style is quite different from what people imagine if their reference of an European castle is Game of thrones decorum.
But southern France châteaux are usually more well preserved because of the dryer weather and their strategic place in the Pyrenean mountains.
I highly recommend you to check some places like Aigues-Mortes, Nîmes,, Villefranche-de-Conflans or Fort de Bellegarde… which are fortified cities where real people still live today in a daily basis.
In Villefranche, you can even visit the fortified battlements like a ring around the town…
The prehistoric caves like Pech-Merle or Lacaux are usually scattered in centric or southern France too (in Dordogne, Lot or Aveyron regions). And yes, Mediterranean France have cactus and palm trees (more in southern east coast in Côte d’Azur like Menton, Cannes, Saint Tropez, Nice or Antibes) because the climate is close to overseas Mediterranean countries or even California but you can found palm trees in almost every beaches in the south around Perpignan…
The palace of Versailles is situated at 30 km outside of Paris (western suburban area) and used to be a little hunting pavilion under Louis the 13th reign but was later significantly enlarged and redone under his son reign (Louis the 14th).

Stop to be hateful about something which happened centuries ago and nobody would have any power upon in the 21rd century.
Their history is complex and was part of Roma and Greek territories before Italy, so they have been stolen by Italian too prior to be part of the county of Provence and so France too by marriages and alliances.
And Corsica island has been sold to France by the republic of Genoa when they decided to become independent, not stolen.
When it’s comes to who has built the castles and fortresses in southern France, I was mainly making reference to the numerous Vauban (french architect under Louis the 14th reign) creations around PYRENEAN region, not the Alps. And as far as I know they didn’t even existed when « french riviera » was already part of the country. Plus I was only making notice of the specific climate and their almost inaccessible position (usually very high in the mountains geographical POV) as the main reason for their good preservation. Politics has nothing to do with that.
For what it’s worth, I wasn’t even evoking any castle in côte d’Azur besides the fortified city of Aigues-Mortes. I was just evoking the palm trees and cactus there…

I can give some information about the Loire valley.
12:57 and 13:06 : No, this isn't Versailles. It's Chambord (château de Chambord) which is one, if not the biggest castle of France. It's really HUGE (over 400 rooms) and it's definetly worth a journey (even though I would advise you to visit other castels nearby). You can see Versailles at 12:52.
13:10 : Château d'Amboise, home to François 1er who also built Chambord. Leonardo da Vinci used to live in Amboise and is buried there.
13:12 : Château de Montlouis-sur-Loire. Not much to say about this one but the garden is really nice and you have some kind of art exhibition there during summer.
13:15 : Amboise again. This bridge was destroyed during WW2 to prevent nazis from crossing the Loire. Actually a lot of bridges on the Loire were destroyed during WW2 so it's not uncommon to encounter lonely pillars like this.
13:20 : Still not Versailles, this is Villandry which is a castle well known for its gardens .
13:55 : Chenonceau is also very famous, but it's built on the Cher river, not on the Loire. It's really close to Amboise though (15km) because the Cher flows into the Loire in Tours 30 or 40km after Chenonceaux.
Note than most of these castles are very close : Chambord to Blois = 15km, Blois to Montlouis = 15km, Montlouis to Amboise = 15km, Amboise to Villandry = 15km, Amboise to Chenonceaux = 15km. If you want to visit the Loire Valley I would advise you to spend a night in Blois to visit Chambord and Blois and another night or 2 in Amboise to visit Chenonceau, Amboise, Villandry. If you know/like Tintin (famous comics in France), you can also go to Cheverny which is close to Chambord and is the castle that inspired the castle in Tintin. Loire Valley is also famous for its wines so you might want to spend some time in a wine cellar.

You can only make a siege for a few hours at a time, you can’t use siege weapons because of the soft sand and the way to short time to deploy them…. Truly remarkable

The valleys at this altitude are usually carved by glaciers (but there could have been warm periods where liquid water also contributed to it). Glaciers do ‘flow’ just very slowly. In warming periods (as one could describe the last century), streams of melting water do flow through glaciers and can thus contribute to the erosion of the rock but most of what you see has been carved out by the glacier itself.

One cool thing to do during low tide is to *walk* from Bec d'Andaine beach passing by Tombelaine and finally reaching Mont Saint Michel and then back the same way (make sure to book a local guide for your safety, they often show tourists how to get out of quicksands, very fun to try 😄). You can even cross during the late evening low tide.

Do you know "Aigues-Mortes" ? Perhaps you'll like it. It means Dead Water and it's our local medieval city.
And we have ruins from the Roman Empire all around. Well, the "Pont du Gard" (2000 years) is not a ruin.
PS : there's a castle in my little village :) not a war one but we have a pretty high dungeon. It's a bit broken now and forbidden access but when I was a kid I used to go on the top of it, it was magical.

The city is very cool in itself but the greatest thing is that you can see the Mt Saint Michel way off in the distance and depending on the weather it can really be stunning to see such a place from so far away ACROSS THE SEA.
