Maybe the slanted frets help out with the whole compensated tuning thing. When I first started playing guitar if thought it was just my cheap guitar was the reason when I got my 4th string tuned to give me a perfect D chord then I played an E chord and the E note on the 4th string was out of tune. Then I found out about tempered tuning and the whole imperfections in the Western system of tuning thing.
The "slanted frets" are usually called fanned frets. (Search wikipedia for "fanned fret guitars") The idea is that the string length will help compensate for tuning issues, along with some other benefits.
who is the maker of the guitar? the slanted frets help with the open string tunings, yes? also with the ergonomics, a la Robert Fripp's Guitar Craft model of guitar that helps combat tendonitis? anybody?
