    Well, it turns out that my jump rope is a full foot too short. That explains why I am having to jump so damn high and thus land so damn hard in order to clear it consistently. Which also explains my severe lower leg pain.
    Thanks for the video. Very helpful. Time for me to buy a new jump rope.

    I have decided to start jump roping for weight loss and also to learn some cool tricks, and I have 2 ropes to begin with. One is 200 gr (handles) + 75 gr (rope) and the other is 125 + 90. Which one do you recommend? Are there any differences?

      Jump Rope Dudes gotta admit, I was a bit salty in that first comment. Sorry. I did a little research and see now that it probably is the best rope on the market. I'm hoping to buy one someday when I can afford it. Right now I'm using a Nike weighted handle rope and it's garbage.

But if you buy that one, don't ask us "how do I untangle this cheap rope?" because we're gonna tell you - this is why we LOVE crossrope!

    • @JumpRopeDudes
      @JumpRopeDudes  7 років тому +11

      Leather Ropes are very popular in the boxing community. They don't "suck" but if you are outside of a boxing ring, you'll find that they aren't very durable on surfaces like concrete or asphalt.

      We only use Crossrope! They are worth the investment as other ropes may snap/break and you'd end up buying 5 ropes before a Crossrope would ever break :) Check em out www.crossrope.com/jumpropedudes

    I hv a reebok super thin speed jump rope but it gets entangled during side swings which is frustrating. Maybe its the rope material or I could be doing side swings incorrectly. Should i switch to a slightly thicker heavier rope?

    • @JumpRopeDudes
      @JumpRopeDudes  6 років тому

      guitar jem - could be both. Ropes that have high memory tend to tangle, but we've seen some people show some sick skills with thin ropes.
      We love the crossrope because it's a super low-memory cable but also, the weight of the rope naturally keeps it from tangling up.

    • @guitarjem2670
      @guitarjem2670 6 років тому

      Thanks...I switched to a heavier and thicker Everlast 9 foot deluxe speed rope and the tangling is much lesser during side swings and other tricks. It feels like I have more control now. However Double unders require a lot more effort...guess that's better than the rope getting tangled all the time.

    • @JumpRopeDudes
      @JumpRopeDudes  6 років тому

      guitar jem - the 1/4 pound agility rope is awesome for doing swipes and agility tricks (DU's). All the other weighted ropes are great for resistance, have the same low memory, but yes... they are tough to get that rope speed up... that's what makes them effective.

    Crossrope is basically the best rope on earth. I've used leather ropes whilst boxing training and tbh I really liked them, I used cable ropes i.e. crossfit ropes for speed and of all of em I prefer the cross rope. I bought one after seeing ZDF's recommendation and now I'm addicted. Fabulous bit of kit and durable af.

      Zen Dude Fitness since you jump rope all over the place and on different surfaces, how often do you have to replace your rope? I've done a little research and I know there's a steel cable inside, but eventually they'll wear out and need to be replaced, right?

    • @JumpRopeDudes

      if it's a really light rope, it probably has high memory and it's probably tough to feel. Grab a half pound crossrope. You'll LOVE IT!
      the resistance makes it easier to start with and it'll give you a solid workout!

    I got the get lean set and have used them like 4 or 4 times now. The handles have already started looking dirty on the white part. Is there any way to clean them? They feel like cleaning would damage then. One of the circle bits on the grip has split too which isn't great for how much I used it.

I think I'm going to shell out the cash and get the one he has honestly because tripping over the rope literally drives me to insanity.

      I own eight different ropes, including a cross rope and one from Rogue (those two cost me $150 combined). My best advice is not to spend more than $20 on a rope. The one I use now (to the exclusion of all the rest) is one I grabbed at a fitness store. No name. Plastic handles, rubber coated steel (like the Onnit). That's where the value is, imo.

      Buddy Lee aero speed hyperformance rope is amazing. I recommend it. Been using it for years to enhance my boxing training. The BL rope is light, really fast but like any other rope you have to take care of it. You have to replace the cord from time to time. Spare cords, handles and swivels are sold on ebay and they're fairly cheap. Check out Forza Sports on ebay.

    whats up dude ?
    the question to Dan you always mention that your ropes are 9'3 since you are 6'3 ? so what length is your crossrope since it is either 9'0 or 9'9 ?
    and for a 6' 2 begginer can he learn the fundamentals in a 9' rope or he should pick the 9'9 length rope ?

    • @JumpRopeDudes
      @JumpRopeDudes  8 років тому

      Great question I should have specified - for crossrope I go with the L (9'0") and it is fine

      jairo vasquez - ceramic bearings that last for a long time and spin like crazy because they have a proprietary lubrication system.

    • @JumpRopeDudes
      @JumpRopeDudes  8 років тому +2

      Havent had to yet which is surprising. That's why we are so big on the CrossRope, it literally does not break or ware down that much. Any other rope I have used (buddy lee in particular) has withered away within 3 months

    • @CaptainLeftHook
      @CaptainLeftHook 7 років тому +2

      I'll try to say this nicely. I'm a boxer and I love jumping rope. It took me over a year to snap my Buddy Lee rope and I do a lot of jumping. Buddy Lee replacement parts are sold on ebay and they're cheap. I'm sure CrossRope is a high quality rope but you're trying to sell it so hard it's annoying as f. Is this channel about jumping rope or selling CrossRope? I pretty sure there's money involved. Annoying. Just annoying. Keep selling Dave Hunt's brand but stop writing nonsense about other brands. It's not like Dave Hunt invented the wheel or gun powder again. Also Everlast's Deluxe jump rope costs less than $20 and It's a damn fine rope for the money.
