Matt seems to be creating a new type of YT account, which relies on the power of his personality and honesty instead of greed, camera manipulation, editing and lies. Matt, we love you! We don’t care if you fuck up in every video as long as you stay true duderino! BOOMSHANKA
I like the variety of cars, I don't find it boring becuase you had an R8 and now it's just a golf R. I think it's important to have a mixture so as to appeal to the wider audience. I don't really care what car it is, I like to follow the progress and watch the technical side of things. I actually feel as though I learn a thing or two.
I take sumps off in work and see it more often than you’d expect. I wouldn’t worry to much. The cream substance isn’t always head gasket like people think. Just condensation
@@MatArmstrongbmx oil also goes milky if the vehicle is used on a lot of short runs and it doesn't get up to temperature. This causes condensation inside the engine, this usually evaporates off on a "good run" and exits through a breather
I second that, it tends to happen to cars that have been standing a while. We get it on the sump and the oil filler cap. Probably just condensation. Stick some rad weld in it, it works wonders
I’m having to rebuild my wife’s Mazda because she decided to park it in a hedge at 20 mph pretty much the same condition as the golf r quite enjoying taking it apart and fixing it
Mat can you get access or buy a sniffer test for the head gasket? Get the engine up to temp and it sniffs the coolant expansion vessel for exhaust gasses. Peace of mind mate. Loving the vids. By far the most honest car vlogger out there.
When I watch these videos I'm always so torn about taking on a project like this myself. On the one hand I know I could do it, because when I buy a new car it's usually cheap because it has a few problems (I generally prefer to buy a newer car with problems rather than an older car that runs well), but on the other hand I would dread all the messy jobs and the inevitable problems that I'd know I was going to run into.
So this week was my 1 week vacation and just found this channel on Tuesday. I have been watched videos, all of them from the start ! What a ride and BIG thanks !
I wouldn’t worry about the sump being metal Mat. A lot of people have replaced theirs for metal ones after road debris or alike has cracked the standard plastic sump. It’s also a common upgrade for people to ugrade to do.
I love the way you get stuck in and make it fun to watch! Also, you are clever with timing of shots, so not to make it tedious to watch. Love it! Maybe put the ads towards the end, as they are a bit annoying.
Hi Mat, with the wheel alignment being out so badly before the strut replacement, you might need to take a look at the driveshaft on that side. If it’s been pushed back that far, I can’t imagine that the bearings haven’t been split or at least badly scored.
I absolutely admire that you’ll tackle anything!! Really love the content... interesting stuff and you don’t take yourself too seriously. Keep em coming!
I’ve learned more watching your videos than some others!! And your honest when making a mistake, all part of the learning process. Keep it up, cheers 💪🏻
These cars are equipment with a Anti Overheating system Matt! Just before it’s about to overheat, it goes into limp mode and cuts out, hence removing the possibly of engine damage. Keep up the sick videos, killing the game🔥
Mat don’t worry vW are renowned for Condensation in oil I’m a workshop manager for large hire company we run lots of Vw and have 90% of them have condensation in the oil
You know that head gaskets gone by buying one of the Head gasket/sniff testing kits they cheap to buy one online but the proper words are Combustion Leak Detector Set but you could be right where it’s been stood for so many months and it’s been leaking from the oil sump that seal where damp and moist just got in Great job so far
Maybe the milkshake comes from shorts rides, it was a lease car... Normally not a problem, because the oil gets warm and the moisture goes out again through the crankcase ventilation. But if the engine does not get warm enough, for example by driving short distances, the moisture will remain in the oil and this white stuff will form. It can cause blockages and even freeze in winter...if it's the head gasket you see white smoke, from exhaust. You have test to see if head gasket is leaking, even just a tiny bit. Cylinder head leakage tester set, Midlock...good luck, keep it up and be yourself!
I'd not be concerned about the sump, a few folk on the golf r page replace these with the metal one as the plastic one has been known to be easily cracked and I believe its a tiguan metal sump thats cheap and fits.
you need more antifreeze /coolant in that engine its aluminum to stop corrosion at least 3.5 ltrs sump is just condensation matt nothing to worry about keep up the good work
Matt you should of pressure tested the water system while you had the sump off , to see if water came out onto the floor from within the engine , would of been interesting to see on the film
As there is no cream on the oil filler cap, or in the coolant header, plus the fact that the temp is bang on, id say it was just condensation causing the creamy sump.
Love your videos Mr Armstrong, I hope this project works out for you..... After what you did for your subscriber and his family pet you and Hannah deserve all that's good
If there are no visible signs on the top side of the engine ie when removing the oil cap of mushy residue then the milkshake in the sump was probably due it it sitting for a year and moisture getting in as it clearly wasn’t sealed correctly
Hi, mate that used to work wit me had/still has Golf R, battery only lasted around 3 years. Common problem he was told and lucky it lasted the 3 years. £400 for a new one because of the auto stop/start. Good shout out to Dent Craft too. 👌🏻👌🏻😎😎
The older tfsi engines are renowned for emulsification of the oil. We had a Octavia vrs with the ea113 engine and a a5 with the ea888 engine. Both did the same.
Absolute quality again Matt - makes me moist. Cant wait to get the tickets again to win, i will bloody win one of your motors, the wife's dream car is a Golf R so watching all of these.
I’d be worried the sump has been replaced with the aftermarket one after the original one was ripped off in the crash. Hopefully the car won’t throw up too many more issues
Please make longer videos Matt aha, this is going be another beast hopefully and I’ve just had the same problem with my car and it was just condensation once ran good for a few days it should be sweet👌
Ignore the negative comments/dislikes, been watching your videos on and off for sometime but recently been watching every video when you've released it and they're great ! Keep it up, ps some of the tunes in the vids are mega 👌👌 (what about buying an older future classic and doing that up, MK2 golf GTi 16v, VW Corrado VR6, especially if you have other newer project cars)
Fingers crossed all good, these do eat head gaskets if they're run hot for a long time. They can run absolutely fine though won't notice at all apart from drinking some coolant every couple thousand miles.. Be worth doing some compression testing
Tuesdays and Thursdays used to be middle of the week boredom days with nothing but work and commuting. Not anymore, not since Mat came into my life 😁 ♥️

I just want to get modifying this golf! Let’s hope the engine holds up! CANT WAIT! 😝
WHOS READY FOR THE R8 REPLACEMENT ON TUESDAY? 😝

Will you get bronze wheels on the golf too ?
Can't wait!!
Hope the engine is good best ov look m8
You need the centre grill too as it's different on the rline.

Fair play 👍

I restored a previously stolen 13 GTI. ENGINE INSIDE WAS MELTED, Was run with broken radiator. 4 years later, still running good
I know there are more interesting, faster, more expensive better cars but I just love the Golf Mk7.5 R and GTI, quality👌🏽
