Martin says/ First truck i ever drove (9300 G m C) had a 702 v 12 gas engine. Backed up by a 5 and 3 trans/ It was geared a little low ,but here in the mountains of Pa nobody could pass me. Good times
Have an elderly friend (81 at time of build) that built a rat rod using one of those. Suburban chassis, model A pickup bed and Allison transmission. Can't recall the cab but he built a custom fuel delivery system and had to fabricate an adapter plate for the bell housing. Estimated top speed of 65 MPH. Must say I was excited when this video popped up. Well done sir.
that might not have a lot of Horsepower but the torque makes up for it and what a work of art...it would look good in what ever you put it in just a awesome blast from the past that will never come back
Thanks, Waylon. Now I've got something else to look out for when I'm at the wrecking yard... I'm seeing a '48 Chevy 1 1/2t built into a rat tow truck, with this for power, a 5-speed transmission and a 2-speed rear-end geared short... If I had money, I'd be broke real quick...
All shucks you made my whole body tingle to see it. Made my mind go ape manick , hopefully with God's will we will meet one day and let you drive my creation. God bless you and your Bowtie FAMILY ....
Worked on these powerplants in COE GM fleet, lots of adventures. Try starting one that's run out of fuel: wild. Recommend putting the flame arresters back in place before hitting the key. Torque monsters. We had 12-71s in the fleet as well; 4 MPG, with a loaded trailer, mostly 48' in the day
Well Ken, can't say much right now, just too emotional hearing big Bertha fire up......... full on plum purty sound she has ! 😍 Thanks for sharing and take care. 👍 👍
Wow, that's the first time I've seen a v12 engine, I've seen a v16 Lincoln once, I can't wait to see your next ratrod project, the engine bay will sure have to be big, that's for sure. God bless
Yeah they wer huge torque but bs HP, I believe they honestly tops wer less than 250.....only place I ever saw em in real life wer in buses, those old GMC greyhounds. Big, long, heavy needed the torque to get em movin
That is WAY cool and really unique. I drove a 401 for years. Weird power band. I have heard of the 702 and always thot it was two 351s bolted together. Thanx for sharing, and good luck.
I worked in an Engine rebuilding shop for a NYC municipality in the early 80s....we would rebuild the GMC 478 V6'es all the time...And we did overhaul several of the GM V12 gas Monsters....They were Used in our Wreckers...before the fleet was converted to Diesel..A lot of those 2 engines were interchangeable...Cylinder heads Pistons and Connecting Rods... Wanted to Hot Rod one for Fun...but the Boss was all business....I can only imagine how much power it would make with 10 to 1 Compression....Custom ground Camshaft...and 2 big Holly 4bbl Carbs....Factory comp ratio I believe was 7 to 1....its gonna make a cool Rat Rod....👍🇺🇸
Sounds really cool tell me more about this? Were you at a private shop or it was actually run by the state/city? Tell me more about the gmc v6s being rebuild and stuff, Info is hard to find about these and I find it very interesting
going to need some tall gearing....double overdrive......hope you have come cool ideas for some custon headers...a plumbers nightmare.....watched a few of your videos...the one where yu went to get this motor...... open frame rat rod ....you got to display that engine...it's a master piece.......and in good hands......best to you on the build
open frame rat rod for sure! and i'm gathering parts 2 speed rear end..need a 5 speed tanny and a 3 brownie. someone said "its going to take a big engine bay and a long hood" haha.. no WAY would I cover up this engine.. no sir.. she's gonna hang out there for all the world to see! thanks for watching.. and for the vote of confidence..i will definitely do it justice
That engine is longer than a Prius, LOL....... Can't wait to see this project. You've got the frame, 2 speed rear axle, tranny, and now the engine. All that's left is the body work !!! By the way, Brutus is jealous.......
I've been looking for one of these engines (that I could afford) for years.. I've always pictured 12 pipes sticking straight up with rain caps on them . but we'll see thanks George :)
@@1963impala2drWaylonWire With zoomies pointed straight up, it would look and sound (to the untrained eye) like an Allison, or Rolls Royce Merlin! But it wouldn't GO like them!
The Headlines will read, " Old Arkie found dead in his garage, of asphyxiation, with funny grin on his face"
got that right!

Had a single v6 in a gmc truck , never thought i would see one of those running that good no smoke no noise . got a awesome winner there now.
the 305 or the 351?
In the olden days, this used to be shown at the bottom of the page in Life magazine among other GMC powerplants. The GMC Twin Six.
and isnt it sad that we remember the "olden days"! haha.. take care and thanks for watching!!

and if you weren't broke before, you'd be broke after touching the gas pedal twice!
I love the canter it does at idle. Beautiful engine, and pretty bomb proof too.
As an old Metalhead, and gearhead,Dude that engine
Rocks! Total Heavy Metal! 🏁🤘💀🤘🏁
All shucks you made my whole body tingle to see it. Made my mind go ape manick , hopefully with God's will we will meet one day and let you drive my creation. God bless you and your Bowtie FAMILY ....
That's the sound of American Industry...I love it.
Wow, the sound of a v-12 with duals is the grooviest sound I've ever heard on this planet.
Man I could listen to that old engine all day
Damn it Ken. I thought I was getting too old for this stuff. Now I want one!
The sound of that firing up would bake a good ringtone. 😁

I remember seeing one back when I was a little boy. I didn't know what I was looking at. I remember that GMC dump truck it was in.
My dad drove for Akers Motor Lines and I remember seeing the one in his cab over tractor.I knew it was awesome.
I remember seeing one of these when I was a kid out in western Ks. It was an irrigation pump.
thats what this one was used for
IT LIVES! Boy do I love the sound of that monster! Beautiful job Mr. Ken!
Excellent old engine revival !
Every true Gearhead should have one of these in his shop! I wish I did!
All I can say is Wow.
Sent chills down my back and my hair is up on my neck. WOW.
oh.. you too? lol
That engine would look good in Jeff Bradshaw's 35 Chevy Dumptruck :)
Brings a whole new meaning to fire in the hole .
Well Ken, can't say much right now, just too emotional hearing big Bertha fire up......... full on plum purty sound she has ! 😍
Thanks for sharing and take care. 👍 👍
i know man.. i get a little choked up too.. haha
That is a beast of an engine and it sounds amazing!
What a beast of a motor!
Subscribed as soon as soon as I heard it start, never seen one before, and now I want one!
What a awesome old engine.
Its an engine with attitude ! Sounds so healthy ! must have been well looked after in the past and will surely be well looked after in your custody !
Daggonn’it Ken! Now its gonna take me a week of Sunday’s to get rid of them goose bumps after listening to that! 👍
i know man.. every time I start it up..it warms the cockles of my heart hahaha
Now that with an old IHC cab an a old mack B-61 grill would be wild.

Great units for running irrigation pumps if they were running good the manifolds would be cherry red at night when you would check them
those are sweet all 12 of them
Very nice, love the obscurity of this engine
sounds like something out of a wwii tank, amazing engine
I LOVE IT !!!!!!! wish i found out about these 50 years ago
me too!
She's sounding pretty sweet 👍
I’m pretty excited about that motor too.
That is a crazy big motor. Very cool.
Thank you, first time see a 12 GMC, 2 holly double pumpers
This is how a V12 should sound 🤤🤤🤤💯💯
That’s a beast of a engine!!!!!! 🙉
It's big, it's loud, it's awesome!👍👍
Yes it is!
It sounds like a ww2 fighter aircraft, like a p-51 or a spitfire... AWSOME!!!!
I really wanna see this good old GMC V12 with some sort of power adder bolted to it.
Dang 630 foot pounds of torque wow!
Yeah they wer huge torque but bs HP, I believe they honestly tops wer less than 250.....only place I ever saw em in real life wer in buses, those old GMC greyhounds. Big, long, heavy needed the torque to get em movin
V12 engine, now that's very exciting news. Can't wait to see what's next. Best Regards
Wish I had that beast in my pulling tractor!!
Had the 66 305 pickup truck! Was a pulling machine! LOL
I have a 63 with the 305
A Frankenstein monster of a engine
Sounds good. It has that *Choptank Idle.*
Oh that is going to be a great rat rod build with the V12
Three great videos Ken !! Thank you my friend!!! Will definitely check out Jimmy's channel! Be safe and God bless you and your family !!!!!!! Eddy

That backfire right beside that gas scares me
Yeah a lot of people have no sense of adventure LOL
Another fine project! Runs like a top! I had a 1963 GMC 4x4 CarryAll for years, running a 315E V6. A real stump puller...
i think you mean a 305E .. thats whats in my 63..(the one I call Jimmy hoffa) he runs great! great motor.. "IMO"
that just made my night !!
freaken cool !!
I'm pretty excited about actually having a "runner" in my possession.. I still plan to try to build one out of the parts I drug home a while back.
That is an amazing sight to behold, really.
haha.. thats how I feel about it too.. really gets my blood pumping when i hear this old iron fire up...
Sweet morning!!! That’s a beautiful sound.
gets my heart rate up every time I hear it run!
I can't wait, as always God bless.
That's a great big helping of shake rattle 'n' roll right there!
That is an awesome motor. I am pretty excited to see what you have planned for it.
This would make for a sick 2 stroke conversion. I got an 8v92 turbo and looking foe a IHC549 v8 gas engine for a 2 stroke conversion.
the "music" just keeps gettin better and better.
There's a engine that a person doesn't see all that often
Don t use 38.8l v12 !
Imagine the sound through twin 6 inch stacks!
or 12 singles
That's sick, in a good way..
Hi Richard, enjoying your happy trails ?
Thank You!
Looks Badass!!! Be cool in a Rat Rod Mack B61 like in El Mariachi.
Wow that's so cool I never know GM had a v12 that's so awesome and I love the design it just screams early gm engineering
you be rockin and rollin
Can't wait to see what you put it in. :)

A rare GMC engine and good to see. Can't wait to see the rat rod that it goes into.
Super Rare !. Got a Studebaker for that !
Can't wait to see what your putting that in...way cool

aww.. poor Brutus.. better shop around.. haha
That sure sounds good!
Not much power but a shit load of torque! And man what a cool and unique engine!
Used to see them old irigation motors with homade zoomies early of a morning you could see the glow a mile off
wow!
It surely deserves a set of nice headers, right? Paisley air cleaners and polka dot accessories? Very cool as in COOLNESS!
