Thank you so much for giving us so much free content. Dwayne is such an amazing dog....he is so good. I am on my 5th Golden Retriever and haven't had a puppy since 1992 ...had two rescues ... go this crazy boy from a family that didn't want him, he has such a SOLID leave it and drop it because of your videos. He had NO training until we got him at 6 months old. I know I don't work with him quite enough, but he is SO solid on everything I taught him from your videos.
Thank you for this very clear demontration. You explained it so well especially the part of using a raised platform in the beginning and good tip about using the window glass to watch tbe dog while out of sight. I'm practicing this with my Peke so he can earn his Canine Good Citizen (CCG). Because I'm a nomad and go to campgrounds and forests all over the States, it is important that I can prove how well behaved he is with a CCG certificate. No one wants to camp near obnoxious dogs. For those who rent, it is very important to show landlords. 💕🐶😺😼💕
People find it amazing that my dog stays with me out of sight with loads of distractions. Like you I don't accept elbows off the ground : ) Being a Border Collie the down is very natural . Great video , thanks Robert.
This is possibly the most demanding part of the 10-part CGC test. 5-minute out of sight stay and no one is talking to the dog as you walk away. The dog must stay in place until you have returned and release him... not jump up as he sees you coming back. I went through this test with 3 dogs over several years, so I remember this part of it. I start the dog to accept my turning away (my back to him) and an electronic collar 'vibrate' function is a good and prompt way to correct his moving. I do NOT talk to the dog as he learns it... no need to add distractions.
Hi I have a 10month old male belgian malinois.. His recall was amazing at the start round 6months old but recently he's not listen at all inside or outside the house his recall is only when he wants too. Doesn't bring back toys anymore when playing fetch...any advice.. Think its best to probably start back at the start of training with him but not sure how too.
Hi Robert. I have a 7 month old Golden retriever that has problem. I got her 8 weeks old and she guarded her food and growled when we got close to her, but now she's better with the food. Now she's guarding her toys, if she gets anything from the yard, and we can't put a collar on her. Last week my 22 yr old daughter tried to put a harness on her, she growled and bit her so she stopped When I tried to take it off she bit me hard I thought of getting rid of her bc im expecting a grandchild in Sept and im scared she's gonna be aggressive with him. She goes to daycare once or 2 times a week and she's so good there and everyone loves her. Plsssssss advise me what to do bc she's brought a lot of happiness to our family but I'm really scared of her now.
I read in 'The other end of the leash' that putting 'good' in front of a command when they have obeyed it as it can be confusing for the dog. Can you explain your reason for doing it? PS. So glad I have found your videos. They are AMAZING and so helpful!
Hello, the dog walks in front of me and if he sees a dog or cat or bicycles barking and jumping, he struggles and it doesn't matter what I do to him, if I correct him with all kinds of collars ... any advice please? I'm sure I'm wrong somewhere, I have a 9 month GSD. I am waiting an answer, thank you
So if he gets up when you pull on leash is that his fault or yours? Would you correct that? Also my dog does great with this but somehow knows if I’m not watching/monitoring, and will get up and check on me...can he sense Im distracted?
My dog is fine inside, and in our backyard. But once we go out for walks or a park all obedience is out the door. We've been going on walks for 2 months now. Just started taking him to the nearby park. How can I get him to focus on me in either scenarios? He will sometimes listen on walks. But at the park - I do not exist.
When teaching my dog to sit after the 4th or 5th repetition she just stays seated and waits for a treat. How do I get her to move again to continue training her to sit? I try to lure her and even drop a treat a couple feet away from her but she doesn’t move. She’s a one year old Redbone Coonhound. Any suggestions??
If you have multiple dogs, should you teach them separate release commands, and in your opinion is it better to train commands in another language? What's the longest you've been able to train a dog to "stay"?
How to make my dog not run out of the house gate when I am not around? When I am there cleaning and gate is open, he won't go. But, when I am not around and somebody has opened the gate by mistake, he will go out onto the streets. Please help.
Robert me old mate. Hows it going buddy. You for some reason maybe its the correctness you both hold. Remind me of Jordan Peterson. Question 1. Robert How does someone like yourself with such intelligence and truth at the forefront and enough energy to power a small station chill. ? Question 2 This an be answered by anyone i here in the community But would like a reply from Mr correct if possible. If you attending a group at the local park where those with dogs gather. The majority are by chance mostly female AND LARGE DOGS. Then there is a fight between 2 dogs that are large over a ball. Left alone there would seem to be a huge vet bill. What do you do ? I'm male and dived right in and grabbed the largest collar i could find and dragged one off the other another male grabbed his dog. or another. The dog i grabbed bit me and have as thousand cuts. Now What was the correct thing to do in that situation.? Do i leave them? do i help the female owner.. i reacted as quick as i could but did not think of the political correctness ect as i was my 3 time visiting the group. I have a 16 week Belgian Malinois . She was hopeless did not put her cape on and fly over and save the day.. im going to get a refund :P. Seriously. i am not sure what is correct in this case or guidelines with these things.+ don't want to look like a twit with the group either
This doesn't teach us how to do it You just showing off your dog You not teaching how to let your dog stay i got a puppy of a month and 2 weeks female she only know how to sit and stay sometimes its my first time having a dog
You gotta start slowly. First doggy stays for a second. Then two. Then 5. Then you start walking away. Then you walk away farther. Then you turn your back on the dog. Then you start leaving the dog's sight. Then you starting making noise while out of his sight. All the while correcting the dog if the dog gets up. If the dog gets up(it will) you try again. if another failure, then take a step back in training(you will). If dog does really well give him a jackpot treat. That is how I did it. But, my dog is a bit older than yours. 6 weeks is pretty young! None of this happens in a day! Give a week or two of progressive training. I like to use really nice treats, so he is extra motivated to listen. I think Robert is talking about a dog that already has the wait/stay command down well.

Thank you!
Fantastic........... "what is he thinking in his mind?" As you point out
I wish my kids can do the same
Awesome! Will try to apply this with my puppy.
Impressive Duanamator ❣
Cheers Robert! Am trying your videos on with my Beagle... they’re working! My wife thinks I’m suddenly a Dog Whisperer......

Yes, training for the CCG now. It is the hardest part of the test, IMO.
Oh wow... I thought I was doing well staying 15 seconds out of sight! 5 minutes??? wow
Great video, thank you

Hi. Anyone in community know when the next questions live stream will be ?
Dwayne is so big now

You’re fantastic! My question is, how hard is it to train a husky? Would you do a video with one if you haven’t and I’ll volunteer my pup
It’s a good start video; but let’s see what happens when the dog leaves the post and walks toward you? Now what? What corrective action is done?
Good dog. what's the best dog age to train?

Minimum age to start training a puppy??
Any time
Thanks
@@joelalex3669 just expect your puppy to have a short attention span and keep it short and fun
What are your favorite treats while training?
I like to drink a beer, white wine, maybe a margarita for a tough day….

Balls or toys should not be in a dog park they only cause problems. I can't speak for sure but I believe Robert is not a fan of dog parks.
This doesn't teach us how to do it
You just showing off your dog
You not teaching how to let your dog stay i got a puppy of a month and 2 weeks female she only know how to sit and stay sometimes its my first time having a dog
Maybe you didn’t watch the video.
this has taught me absolutely nothing 😂

I think Robert is talking about a dog that already has the wait/stay command down well.
Sounds like you need personal consultation. I think Robert does that for those who are ready to invest in themselves and their dogs
I think this guy wanted to install the one time stay command patch vs learning, enjoying and growing with his dog.
