    'liking lightskinned women equals liking white girls' is an _insane_ statement. Matthew, you're white, you know factually that there are white men who won't date black women no matter how light they are. You and I are both related to multiple examples of such people - you're a Newfie and I'm from TO, it's a very common irrational squeamishness with Canadian white men. Does it not then click for you that racism and colorism are parallel tracks that don't necessarily cross? Colorism predates racism, dude! And that's setting aside the fact that he's working from a sample size of _one woman!_
    I can't get over him saying that with a straight face. Like, not only is that racist, it implies he thinks of women in purely decorative terms.

    • @activistbook3809
      @activistbook3809 19 днів тому

      no colorism is direct result of white sumpracy and global economic caste system..
      colorism is more then a preference its in direct proximity to whiteness. so yes exclusivitly dating light skin whilst being a racist is can slo be the case

Also, I think what he meant by Kendrick “preferring white women” is in one of his mr morale songs he admitted to sleeping with a white woman on tour, assumably while he was dating Whitney. He wants to bait Deleted into revealing who he is. He wants to believe that KB is actually a poser because it hurts his feelings that KB gets co-signs and he doesn’t as a White dude because he can’t tell the difference. He could tell Justin didn’t say ngga for a long time but not the difference in accents of Deleted and KB. He has a stereotypical view of Blackness and Black people, so if you don’t meet that view, you’re either not Black enough like Justin or not Black at all like Deleted. He’s still making at least 100k views per new video and that’s pretty high but because he used to get 1 mil, his ego won’t let him move on and just keep making videos. He has to get obsessed about how someone is going after him and his family. He has to make it about Kendrick fans instead of taking accountability for how he did all this to himself.

    People kill me talkin' bout because they have studied it and know alot, that makes them a part of something. What?! People study various subjects all the time. When they gain alot of knowledge on a particular thing we just call them an expert on the subject matter. Knowledge isn't the same as lived experience. The architect who designed my house is an expert on it but has no idea what it's actually like to live in it. An invite to the cookout doesn't mean you live in the house. You are still a guest and need to act accordingly.😏

      The 6.16 one had receipts and made assumptions based on them- most of which made sense. The familly matters one was mainly storytelling and assumptions based on very little facts and no cultural awareness. Ie No black person would put ninja in a song 37 times to prove he was black. Only a wh*te person or someone who didnt understand black culture would think that. Also other you tubers found and get him information ie about the rapper at the hotel etc which he ignored because it didn't fit with his narrative. I like drake and kendrick and I also know the difference between basic journalism and propaganda.

    Wait…act like a guest in this space? No other culture gatekeeps like this. His rock n roll analogy falls flat (and rock music came from blending different styles, some came from black ppl and some from white) bc white ppl generally wouldn’t make a black person feel like an outsider if they were a devoted fan of the genre. There are many black rock fans, who are every bit a part of that culture. We’re supposed to treat each other like fellow humans, not form cliques based on our skin color, where only we are allowed to follow certain trends. Bc that’s all it is, 99.9% of ppl aren’t originating culture, they’re copying it, so it’s pretty silly to say you can only copy ppl who have similar skin color. Racism was tried in this country and it was no good. We’re supposed to be rejecting it now.

      The DNA of hip-hop is the black American experience. The struggle, the nuances, the language, behavior, values, perspective, etc. It’s not just a genre of music. Which is why a person who isn’t black who studies hip-hop or speaks on it always needs to have self awareness that there is a deeper level to it they themselves will never have an intimate personal knowledge of, and that they need to heed how the people who have that knowledge respond to their commentary. Because it’s a genre that is intertwined with a people’s cultural identity. It’s not the only culture to do this. I like Bad Bunny, but I will never understand or resonate with his music more than Puerto Ricans can. People like Matthew lack that kind of self awareness and don’t value other people’s culture enough to take accountability when he says something offensive. Other cultures will check you, but for some reason black American culture is the only one that shouldn’t be protected.

    • @react2reactions246
      @react2reactions246 17 днів тому

      @ I take your point, and I think that’s fair. The only part that doesn’t make sense to me is when you boil it down to skin color. I know several black people who do not have intimate personal knowledge of the culture from which hip hop was formed. In fact, even those who are from the places where hip hop began are somewhat removed from that culture, which existed at a specific point in time. But I can, at least, understand how someone from there, with parents who were there, would be culturally tied to hip hop. But the black gen z’er from the suburbs could arguably be less connected to that culture than the white millennial who grew up in the Bronx. So, as it relates to this guy, sure, I take your point. I just think boiling it down to skin color misses the point of your argument.
