Isnt it funny how music speaks to people in different ways. I'm 34 years old and until 2 years ago I had never heard if MCR until my boyfriend showed me this video. I fell in love with this band instantly. Since then I have listened to all their albums. I would definitely now consider myself a huge fan but it's so interesting how something that sound so beautiful to one person sounds like garbage to another. Your reaction was fair because its YOUR reaction. Thanks for giving it a listen though 🙂
Not to be rude but are they deaf how can they not hear the words they are saying wtf 😂 it took me the second listen through to know what they were saying and I was 9. This is the anthem of the early 2000s nothing beats it in that time
Anyone else confused about there reasoning why they don't like? it maybe its the language is a problem but you can easily tell what there saying. Most rock songs are vary Instrument heavy over vocal but I can respect there dont like it
I'm sure I appreciate this song way more having grown up in the mid 2000s emo / rock era in the UK but I'm glad you're honest enough to give your opinion
I'm a huge MCR fan. This song is considered them peaking - I disagree and enjoy their Revenge Era songs which are far more loud. This reaction did disappoint me. I see this channel is cornered in a certain genre and may have to unfollow :(
I think these brothers need to have the lyrics in front of them when they do these reactions, it may just truly make them understand some of these songs!
I am 55 and I love this song also! Too many other people above 45 years old sound like the old fogeys that put my Maiden, Priest, and Ramones music down back in the 80s.
You guys were trying to make sense of the song by watching the video while having no idea what the lyrics were to have it make any sense. Maybe you should check out the meaning of some songs beforehand and pull up the lyrics..
A Masterpiece of music on an album that will go down in music history, how can anyone who enjoys music not love this track is totally beyond me. Respect your opinion guys but after watching dozens and dozens of reactions to this song by all types of people you guys are the only one's who have stated they didn't enjoy it. Not the reaction i was expecting when i clicked on the video so it really did take me by surprise.
Completely agree…I don’t know if these dudes don’t understand English very well or what. Such a deep song and will go down as one of the greatest songs ever. Even without the lyrics the song kills it. I’m not even a MCR fan, this might be the only song i know by them but it’s unbelievably epic
I just learned about the group a couple of weeks ago, and the Black Parade is the first album I listened to over and over since Dylan's Blonde on Blonde. Im only 36, though, I doubt it's about age. I think its just the way music makes you feel and what resonates with you.
Oh no no no, i was 15 when i felt in love with this band hearing their Helena, today i'm almost 30 and i still love them. It's just that people are different and for some of them it don't hit them as much as us.
Hi guys, I love this song and makes me sad because it makes me think of my father whom passed almost 3 years ago. “We’ll carry on, we’ll carry on, and thought your death ang gone believe, your memory will carry on”Basically it’s about the passage out of life and the memories one has of it. One dies and death comes for us in the form of a parade. This is based on singer Gerard Way's notion of death appearing to a person in the form of their fondest memory, in this case seeing a marching band as a child.
When I was a young boy My father took me into the city To see a marching band He said, "Son, when you grow up Would you be the savior of the broken The beaten and the damned?" He said, "Will you defeat them? Your demons, and all the non-believers The plans that they have made?" "Because one day, I'll leave you a phantom To lead you in the summer To join the black parade" When I was a young boy My father took me into the city To see a marching band He said, "Son, when you grow up Would you be the savior of the broken The beaten and the damned?" Sometimes I get the feelin' She's watchin' over me And other times I feel like I should go And through it all, the rise and fall The bodies in the streets And when you're gone, we want you all to know We'll carry on, we'll carry on And though you're dead and gone, believe me Your memory will carry on We'll carry on And in my heart, I can't contain it The anthem won't explain it A world that sends you reelin' From decimated dreams Your misery and hate will kill us all So paint it black and take it back Let's shout it loud and clear Defiant to the end, we hear the call To carry on, we'll carry on And though you're dead and gone, believe me Your memory will carry on We'll carry on And though you're broken and defeated Your weary widow marches On and on, we carry through the fears Oh, oh, oh Disappointed faces of your peers Oh, oh, oh Take a look at me, 'cause I could not care at all Do or die, you'll never make me Because the world will never take my heart Go and try, you'll never break me We want it all, we wanna play this part I won't explain or say I'm sorry I'm unashamed, I'm gonna show my scars Give a cheer for all the broken Listen here, because it's who we are I'm just a man, I'm not a hero Just a boy, who had to sing this song I'm just a man, I'm not a hero I don't care We'll carry on, we'll carry on And though you're dead and gone, believe me Your memory will carry on You'll carry on And though you're broken and defeated Your weary widow marches, oh Do or die, you'll never make me Because the world will never take my heart Go and try, you'll never break me We want it all, we wanna play this part (we'll carry on!) Do or die, you'll never make me Because the world will never take my heart Go and try, you'll never break me We want it all, we wanna play this part (we'll carry on!)
Any song can be a reaction song. Your reaction is that you did not care for it and or you did not understand it. That's ok too. Maybe you could look up the lyrics if you dont understand what is being sung. That could improve your opinion...or not. Reactions are about hearing something you have not heard before and looking for the good and the bad, if possible. There will be some that dont blow you away, but they might just grow on you. Anyway, I look forward to you reactions.
When my kids were in EMO mode I was meh 🤷🏼♀️ until I heard this. You unfortunately didn’t get the lyrics, the concept, the musicality or the premise. I’m 60, I love MCR to this day.
im sorry you didn’t like my special request, i think you’re right in saying it takes a specific kind of listener to relate to their themes. and it definitely is a song to go crazy to and sing til your throat is sore. maybe some other mcr songs would be more to your liking, but again i appreciate your honest review, even if i disagree lol.
Really? Shocking. Song is not new.. Came to the channel to see your reaction. No subscription because we obviously have different tastes in music. Don't be offended; it is what it is.
The black parade album is about a man in his thirty’s dying of cancer and realizing what he’s done in his life, regretting it all, knowing he can't fix it and accepting his fate. But this song is how the front man (Gerard way) pictures how we die. How he thinks we die is, whatever your fondest memory is, but take that and turn it black. And the main characters (the patient) fondest memory was him going into the city with his father to see a marching band. And the black parade is what leads him into the afterlife.
The whole album is about the passage of life to death, and the memories of the dying protagonist. The band said that in the concept, death comes to greet you in the form of your most beloved memory or something familiar, and the protagonist of the Black Parade was taken to see a marching band as a young child by his father :) MCR generally has something for everyone though, don't know what you typically listen to but I bet you could even find a different song from the same album you'd enjoy!
The black parade in the visuals meant death. It was coming for the dying guy. They rewarded him. The lyrics was all about what the dying mans emotion and feeling. Thats what the visuals basically meant.
The first concert I took my then 13 yr old son to see...they were amazing live. Gerard Way was a force of nature. The black Parade is an amazing concept album.
I think it`s great that you were honest by saying that you didn`t particularly like the song. Would be boring if you liked every song you reacted to. :)
I’d at least give the other songs on The Black Parade a try before you write them off. It’s true that this one is overwhelming to a lot of people and may try too hard to being a Queen impersonation. But the rest of the album is almost flawless imo for a 2000s rock record. There’s not as many theatrics and overtop vocals in the rest of the album as this song has.
i think this is the first reacton i've seen where the reactors didn't like this song. This music si not just for a certain audience - this band was insanely popular in the 2000s and it's their most popular/famous song. They were the top emo/pop-punk band with fall out boy, panic at the disco and paramore. appreicate the honesty though!
I understand it's not for everyone but overtime I have seen many people fall into this song. Early on many people have a sound that they prefer but as we all grow we all find multiple sounds. I look forward to seeing how you react to other great hits.
I like this band!! Different yet intriguing. Had their CD until someone stole all my CD’s out of the car. Funny they also took my Bible … how ironic! “Thou shalt not steal” 😳 Anyway, heard that My Chemical Romance had some influence from Queen! Anyway, you should check out MCR & Brian May performing WE WILL ROCK YOU live. Pretty awesome! Thanks Bros 💪💪
Omg I remember always requested this to radio because it's my fave songs! Back in elementary school now I'm turning 30, I still play this when I'm feel tired from work and all the people around me. I locked my room and let this song played loud and I sing with my lungs out, while crying. Believe me this is my comport song. Ps. Sorry for my bad English. ✌️✌️✌️

It's not my favorite song, but I watched the live recording of this band's concert and I liked it. Quite good songs My Chemical Romance - Sing, famous last words(probably the best song for me), Helena, Mama(live)
I understand you guys. I didn't really into this song either when i first heard it. But it grew up on me overtime. If it's ok for me to suggest try listen/react to their slower songs like "I don't love you" or "Cancer". Cheers!🤙
I've got to say I appreciate and respect your honesty. It shows integrity, that you arent just pretending you like everything. With that said, while this song is what initially caught my attention and turned me on to MCR, I will say that the more I hear it, the less I like it. I can see the flaws more and more but it is still catchy and makes me feel happy, even though it is imperfect. However, the entire rest of the album is a masterpiece, in my opinion. That may be the opposite intent since this is the title track, but the rest of the album is so fucking good. This song seems almost overbearingly grandiose. The chord change is too much but I appreciate that they wanted more space for those lyrics in the bridge. A better song from this album is Famous Last Words. That should be more your style and the execution and writing is even better I believe. Also Disenchanted and The Sharpest Lives are also awesome.
Not really my taste I have to say, and I actually haven't heard of this band before. They may have other songs that I would like better. However, I agree with your reaction, cheers, guys.
@@sp0ngeb00b7 Depends on what mood I'm in but I love Heavy rock, metal, etc. For example I love Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Metallica, AC/DC, Queen, Led Zeppelin, Ten Years After, Deep Purple, all the music I grew up with. Which of course includes The Beatles, The Stones, Pink Floyd, etc. I'm always discovering new bands on this channel including Nightwish, The Scorpions and of course My Chemical Romance! Love checking them out on UA-cam. All the best.
@@annemaclean6634 Of course!! Love my Maiden, 'Tallica, Queen, Zeppelin... and much respect for continuing to try new things. No one should ever limit themselves with music, there's just so much great art to be discovered! You seem to like very technical/less harsh vocalists regardless of genre, and I understand Gerard's voice is an acquired taste, so I would recommend MCR's Sleep or their cover of Bob Dylan's Desolation Row! Regardless, rock on 🤘🤘
@@sp0ngeb00b7 Absolutely - that's the beauty of subscribing to a channel like this, apart from all the great reactions, I always read the comments like the ones from your good self where there's recommendations and it's so good checking them out. As you say, so much fantastic music out there. By the way, have you listened to the new Iron Maiden album, Senjutsu? Been listening to it quite a lot in the last wee while - I love it, some great tracks.
@@annemaclean6634 It is definitely not my favourite Maiden record, but it's great to see them still putting out solid work all these decades later! 2000's Maiden wasn't stellar but they still have good things to give, if Book of Souls was anything to go by. Lately I've been on a personal break from metal after just years of indulgence haha, been poking through the catalogue of a wonderful drummer/singer named Anderson Paak! He has an album coming with Bruno Mars, down the route of 70s funk/soul and it was blessed by the legendary Bootsy Collins :)
I’m sorry too, but for me, this song and group SUCKED. However, I totally get that other people may love them and think music I like sucks too so hey- that’s life.
this is a stupid comment. Like the song or not, you have to respect that these guys are talented enough to play and write their own songs that millions of other people enjoy.

Me too. My kids listened to them back in the day, but I didn't pay attention. Now, I embarrass them with how much I love MCR!
Also 34. This is why I was into the weird emo girl in jr. High instead of the girls singing Backstreet songs. It's a whole different culture.
They are one of the deepest bands of the 2000s... And the black parade is like one of the best albums of all fookin time
Brian May performed this song live with them. You should check that version out, it might make more sense maybe.
Ok... WOW! I am seeking that out right now!
Listen to it again. The layers of instrumentation is so deep and layered and beautiful that it could have been great without lyrics.

To each his own. Not for me either.

Never was a fan of MCR, too much going on in their songs and vids for my taste, but a fair reaction from you both xx

When I was a young boy
My father took me into the city
To see a marching band
He said, "Son, when you grow up
Would you be the savior of the broken
The beaten and the damned?"
He said, "Will you defeat them?
Your demons, and all the non-believers
The plans that they have made?"
"Because one day, I'll leave you a phantom
To lead you in the summer
To join the black parade"
When I was a young boy
My father took me into the city
To see a marching band
He said, "Son, when you grow up
Would you be the savior of the broken
The beaten and the damned?"
Sometimes I get the feelin'
She's watchin' over me
And other times I feel like I should go
And through it all, the rise and fall
The bodies in the streets
And when you're gone, we want you all to know
We'll carry on, we'll carry on
And though you're dead and gone, believe me
Your memory will carry on
We'll carry on
And in my heart, I can't contain it
The anthem won't explain it
A world that sends you reelin'
From decimated dreams
Your misery and hate will kill us all
So paint it black and take it back
Let's shout it loud and clear
Defiant to the end, we hear the call
To carry on, we'll carry on
And though you're dead and gone, believe me
Your memory will carry on
We'll carry on
And though you're broken and defeated
Your weary widow marches
On and on, we carry through the fears
Oh, oh, oh
Disappointed faces of your peers
Oh, oh, oh
Take a look at me, 'cause I could not care at all
Do or die, you'll never make me
Because the world will never take my heart
Go and try, you'll never break me
We want it all, we wanna play this part
I won't explain or say I'm sorry
I'm unashamed, I'm gonna show my scars
Give a cheer for all the broken
Listen here, because it's who we are
I'm just a man, I'm not a hero
Just a boy, who had to sing this song
I'm just a man, I'm not a hero
I don't care
We'll carry on, we'll carry on
And though you're dead and gone, believe me
Your memory will carry on
You'll carry on
And though you're broken and defeated
Your weary widow marches, oh
Do or die, you'll never make me
Because the world will never take my heart
Go and try, you'll never break me
We want it all, we wanna play this part (we'll carry on!)
Do or die, you'll never make me
Because the world will never take my heart
Go and try, you'll never break me
We want it all, we wanna play this part (we'll carry on!)

Very loud for sure. Not a fan..
Two of the band members the brothers are from Belleville, NJ. Next town over from me. They suck lol
Wannabe's trying to be Green Day
no lmao
This sounds like zero Green Day songs. Queen if anything.
this comment means two things
1. you have never listened to mcr
2. you have never listened to green day
I adore you guys, but this "music" is just noise to me. I agree with your thoughts on it.
I’m sorry too, but for me, this song and group SUCKED. However, I totally get that other people may love them and think music I like sucks too so hey- that’s life.
Yeah .. I'll pass. Sounds too transitor radio type to me. Too much chaos .. not enough talent.
They have lots of talent >:3
this is a stupid comment. Like the song or not, you have to respect that these guys are talented enough to play and write their own songs that millions of other people enjoy.
