Here's a short tune for you while I work away on the 15-minute Ocarina of Time cover. This one is fun and it crosses voices so often it really starts to mess with your head when you start trying to follow which trombone is playing the high part and which is playing the low part. It's hard to believe I only have 2 duets of the original 10 Pederson bassbone duets left to record for my channel.
I really love Pederson's music. I think people that have been following my work on this channel can tell that I have a lot of his sensibility in how I approach music. I definitely try to have a playfulness in my approach that I think oftentimes players forget about when they specialize in bass.

Nice! I cut my teeth on Tommy Pederson with his, All My Friends are Trombone Players album of 1964. As a result, I was a bit more aggressive on most of Tommy's arrangements. I guess I should have listened more to, She Has Gone, from that album and I would have honed my sensitivity sooner. At any rate, most beautiful and sensitive playing here. Love listening to your musical expression. Thanks!

Michael, I love that album… even the title of that album is great.
I have pdf copies of the Pederson manuscripts from his “garage band”. One of my favorite octets from a concept point-of-view has several titles crossed out that get progressively more aggressive ending with “The Trombone that Ate the World!” So I guess you’ve got to be ready to bring it when you play his music too!

@laysthetrombone Hoyt's Garage Band...a legend indeed (unless you're talking about Pederson's, “Terrible Tempered Trombones”). I'm not familiar with “The Trombone that Ate the World!” A colleague of mine, brave enough to endure the California scene (and supported by his parent's money), was a part of Hoyt's garage experience. Though I did some time in the LA area, I was never able to get an invite to the garage.
