Micro puffer fish in wild aquarium ( pea puffer )

- I found a 6 gallon fluval edge on craigslist for $30 and built a pea puffer tank. I wanted to keep the cost low so instead of buying plants I hit the lake and found some wild plants that would look great in the tank.

Watch out for parasites if you add plants from the wild to your aquarium. It may introduce parasites that can be harmful to your fish or other plants in the tank.

pea puffers come with parasites anyway. Its best to quarantine for two weeks with meds.

You can find cheap tanks on Craigslist sometimes. For lighting, there are a few low-cost options now. The Unconventional Aquarist has a couple videos on the commercial options. For DIY lighting, there are cheap shop lights and clamp lights you can use. My favourite at the moment is a clamp light with the reflector removed, paired with an LED light bulb with the diffuser removed.

I always check with some colourless minnows
@pokenei maybe damsel fly nymphs. When I catch water flea I always get them.
If I put wild plants in my tank then took them out will I be ok they were only in there for like 1 hour

I've done the same thing, taking wild plants from local streams for my tanks and they've always done very well!

This was actually one of the first fish tanks I got and let me tell you it is NOT beginner friendly.
The opening is incredibly small at the top and does not make cleaning easy. There’s also less area for gasses to escape. The metal mesh on the top of the lid rusted away pretty quickly. Never got water on it. Built in light developed pretty nasty fungus and water logging due to close proximity to water surface and all the condensation being funneled right up to it.
It’s a beautiful tank but it requires a bit of finessing.
