DIY First Time Re-Screening Our Pool Enclosure
Вставка

- Decided to replace the screen on our pool screen enclosure ourselves since it would save us around $1200 and we could get a couple nice 22' extention/step ladders out of it. Was tricking finding a strategy but we got moving pretty good and got everything done in 2 days. The walk board we made was very strong with several 2x4s underneath and I would feel comfortable putting 550lbs right in the center of a 22ft plank.
Thanks for the creative scaffolding idea
Get job...excellent video...gives me confidence I can do this project on my own. You’re the Best for taking time to share your expertise and time to film this video with all who view your awesome video. Thank you for sharing snd saving me a thousands of dollars. God bless!!! Friends from Florida!!!
Thanks for taking the time to share ... always good to learn from UA-cam U ... cheers.
Excellent work brother. This just helped me understand how to get one in the middle. Just have to redo the strip and work side over. 🤓
Very cool, well done! I have a similar job to do so this helped me figure out how to do it. 👍🏻💥👏🏻
Appreciate the video. I don't feel so lost now. Thank you both!
I wish you explained on how to do build the scaffold because my hardest part is to get to the center of the pool cage.
It’s literally just 2 12’ 2x12s and like 6 supporting 2x4s 8-10’ screwed together on there side for strength. Can’t change length by removing some screws
I going to be starting a new job doing this type of work,Just wanted to see what I'm getting myself into
Thanks for sharing! This video has given me some ideas on how to tackle my screening!
did you guys use the screen clips?
Awesome..did 3 of mine .heat index is too high now i have a couple wrinkles i'll get on a cooler day...or afrer Hurricane season is over.
I need to replace my screws and I have a similar arch over the middle of my pool. I'm trying to figure out how to build a platform. I'm guessing sister some 2x6s. What's the width of your pool?
Remember to use structural screws, theyre the star gold ones or galvanized if using pressure treated, not drywall screws for your planks and 2x4. And if connecting (2) 2x4x8 to make a 16ft, use (1) 2x4x8 in between the 2 so that way it overlaps 4 ft on each side. Also use blocking aka horizontal support between your 2x4
How do you actually attach the screen are you using a certain type of tool I couldn’t see. Ty
You are a busy guy! Looks great!
Did he actually type the word like???
great work for first time!!!
Hurricanes ruined mine. They are coming tomorrow to finally re screen the top of mine. $3000 just for the top. My cage is quite high though and I don’t do heights. I will be doing all the sides though.
Wow...$3000?...expensive just for the top
holy crap, that was cool to watch
Most vauable takeaway from this experience?
Don’t do it yourself lmao
Justin Whaley, if this happened again, would you do it yourself?
As a re-screener, this was kind of pond I’m to watch lol. Good job getting it all done I guess.
🤔
Feels good saving that $$$$$
Where did you get the supplies and how much did it cost?
Everything is at the end of the video. Lowe’s or Home Depot
Why does my screen split when using splining tool, happens almost every damn time.
Roller too big, screen may too old or cheap. Groove might be deep try gentle rolling into the grove with no spline first
@@capt.justinwhaley-jwfishin6896 funny my girlfriend gets me to clean her cage with bleach on an old sock on an extended pole. This time it seems to have bleached the screen too. Maybe because I am heavy handed I probably push to hard on the spline. Thanks for your tip
Is it true screened in pools keep the pool water to cold?
So essentially you spent over half the professional cost and it took you guys 2 days. Don’t get me wrong, you did an excellent job. But two days sweat equity is worth more to me then that- I’d hire pros.
You misunderstood. If they hire people, more than $2000, the video is 7 year ago. They did themselves, cost $418, ladder not included. 1/5 pro’s price.
lol. oh stop the cap. got get another vac shot you loon.@@xc6036
Roughly how much did it cost doing it yourself compared to having a contractor do it ?
Prices at the end of the video. Roughly $420 with materials including $65 to build 20ft walk plank. If you get estimates of $1650+ I’d consider diy but if you get a good place to do it for $1200 I’d say it’s worth the $800 labor if you have no idea what you’re doing. Use flat spline not round.
@@capt.justinwhaley-jwfishin6896 thank you
In my area, they usually charge about $100-$150 per square, so I'm guessing that you saved a lot of money!!
Where do you buy the full size screen like that? I'm debating either repair the few rips or redo the entire lanai, but I cant find any 20 ft wide screen?
Lowe’s buy the tallest one by 100ft
Nice work!
Make a video on how to install a screen door including cutting z bars and door kits
Where did you get your screen so cheap?
Home Depot in 100ft
How did u make that walk board
Like 4 or so 12ft 2x4s standing on their side for strength then 2 12-16ft 2-12" as the board on top. Build in 10 minutes
Good thing hes over the pool
Wish i knew that song.
Mee too í do screen repair, í Walk in the beams well
The only problem with sheeting is next time 1 rips you have to replace them all
I still did the squares individually
@@capt.justinwhaley-jwfishin6896 lol the professionals do it the same way you did, roll the whole screen out, then spline individually ..... commentor must be confused LOL
Is there anybody who can do it in North California ? Silicon Valley
Leave Comminfornia first. Abandon your pool. It will be cheaper in the long run. Get out of Commiefornia.
nice
You did not show me anything. I want to know how to do this myself.
Patio, Lanai and Garage Window Screen Installer Clips (20 Pack Clips) www.amazon.com/dp/B079C3QKRZ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_bPEoFbCYBZ49Z
Just use Ladder and get on the beams and walk them
No
well done.....yep...its a pain in the ass job....you saved yourself some money....its too bad they don't make some of panels removable for hurricanes.....I was told to cut the north and south panels before a hurricane hits to maybe prevent structure damage....so I did just as Mathew hit, and now I have to replace the screen in the panels....doubt I can DIY it....its a bit dangerous.............
Cut the panels before a hurricane? lol. Whoever told you that is trying to get more business after a hurricane.

Do you need help?
Right now í need to work
I am a 15 year professional, not a bad job. You miss pronounced spline, it rhymes with nine
Nice job back breaking work oof
Watch you work with no showing how, great video if you are not interested in learning how!
I heard about woodprix instructions good opinions.
Get off my screen
Thanks for not explaining anything. Total waste of time could have gone over the tools or how to fit it. All I learned was watching you in high speed doing it.
John Burgess ua-cam.com/video/VC73Cqa5YsY/v-deo.html I explain everything
He was showing you how to install the screen from the bottom using walk planks the rest of it is pretty much common sense spline, screen, channel on metal ,some tool
Spline tool fucking phone
