@@prussiaaero1802It appears that the DC car was looking to overtake that vehicle and spotted the sheet of timber hanging out the back and perhaps was in two minds in whether or not to overtake. There didn't appear to be any cars coming the other way for a while so there could've been ample opportunity to do so at some point. That could explain why the DC car appeared to be closer than it should have been.

Is it me or can we not leave the house without being tailgated by a 4wd now? Even when doing (slightly over) the limit, overtaking someone, and having a car directly in front of you. I wish the police would do some policing of this. In 30 years of driving, it's never been so common.

@@stephent2243 That explains a lot. It's tailgater central! It's definitely much worse now. Since the 80's I've noticed it increasing there note than Melbourne or Sydney. They're both tame in comparison.

We were in the car hit by the Merc. The MB driven by an elderly man smashed through the boom gate exit and spun us around. I think he stepped on the accelerator rather than the brake as he was coming up to the exit.

If your "classic car" can't do 110kph it's a piece of shit.
Most older cars back in the day were engineered as such that they were lucky to have a top speed of 110kph. I'm talking cars that didn't even have heater/demisters or radios, let alone disc brakes with brake booster. Even if those cars had a top speed of 130kph, many people would've only driven those cars at 90kph.
@@BlairSauer The Ford Model T was only capable of 65-70 kph (40-45 mph). Considering how many still run and drive at 100-ish years old, I wouldn't necessarily consider them to be a "piece of shit," there's plenty of newer cars that can't even last their 3-yr/36,000 mile factory warranty period without requiring engine overhauls.
