Andrew! Thanks so much for your videos and for this review! My wife and I always appreciate your honest thoughts! We have been users of the DXR-8 for the last 2 years. Infant Optics has had great customer service and even replaced our parent unit when it broke. Hopefully I’ll have a need to upgrade to this “pro” model! Looks like it checks all the boxes for “things we wished the old one did”. Like better camera, time on the parent unit, noise canceling out background noise!

Yay, THANKS for this review‼️ We never wanted a WiFi monitor or extra info like O2, breathing, or movement features, so I'm a fan of the DXR-8, but still think the Pro addresses so many of my gripes w/the current model that it really makes me want to get it for our next baby. Or hopefully I can get just the new parent unit 🤷🏻‍♀️?
    - The menu is archaic but I settled for it. This new menu, though, is nice and seems much more intuitive.
    - Noise: the current one, which comes with its own lovely static, also picks up Baby's sound machine, which means we're stuck with our own portable noise machine almost all day. Kind of sucks when you prefer the quiet! So now I keep the monitor off for part of his naps and use it as my own noise machine at night. The Noise Reduction feature is a game changer!
    - Displaying the time on screen is huge! This way you're not relying on a phone and its bright screen. I had been wanting that for so long.
    - Having actual Volume and Brightness buttons on the SIDE is much easier than memorizing the order and amount of taps you need to get something done. Seriously, this is great and makes me wonder why it wasn't done before (besides "people want fewer buttons".. No, tired parents don't).
Thanks for making me want this 😂!

Nailed it. Perfect summary of the new updates and advantages for the Pro. Once thing to note is that the original and Pro models are not cross compatible. Unfortunately you can't blend old and new cams into the Pro parent unit, just the new cams will connect to it.

Thanks for the review! This is super timely for us, as we are due with twins in the spring. We had the Eufy monitor on our registry (thanks for your original rec there), but I'd been getting some cold feet after noticing some reviews on Amazon about folks having trouble with it after a year or so (?). We were doing some comparisons between Eufy, Infant Optics DXR-8, and Motorola MBP36XL just this week (no one seems to recommend the Motorola over either Eufy or the Infant Optics, but the split screen for twins is tempting). The Infant Optics Pro seems to address all the things that we weren't crazy about in the original, so that's big. I guess we just need to make a final call on Eufy vs Infant Optics Pro.

The screen will sleep on its own after a few minutes and you can change that within the settings. Even when the screen is asleep though, you'll be able to hear any sounds and see the light meter when sound is detected. However when sound is detected, the screen does not automatically turn back on. That must be done manually.

At the moment, I'm not aware of any baby monitors that offer a spit screen view. Most will have you toggle between two cameras. But I know some security cameras like Amcrest and Nest have a split-view to see multiple cameras in the app so that may be something to consider.
