I do watch it every day for hours. I DVR every episode. I just started watching Gunsmoke about three years ago and was like-Where have you been all my life!
Gunsmoke……realistic stories, fine scripts and superb acting. One of the greatest western dramas ever made. Those wonderful actors and actresses who made this series will return after Armageddon. R.I.P. means Resurrection In Paradise according to the Bible’s promise in John 5: 28 & 29. Alan Peck 🐎
It's amazing how the characters have changed their personalities through the years. Take a look at the early Seasons before Festus was a Lawman, he can really sing too! He was part of a western band called The Pioneers.
Festus is the Bestus! You could edit together all of the scenes of Festus like this one and have a whole season of Gunsmoke comedy….and it’d be light years better than what is on television today.
Thought I used to like festus better. But I didnt remember anything about Chester too small. All I remembered about him was being crippled and just yelling mr. Dillon after now watching old reruns of Chester he could be really funny but when he got mad he could have a temper.😄
Festusism still applies here in 2024...How do you know if the person who wrote the readin' wrote the readin' right ? Now we have a name for it however . It's called fact check . Yup . Fact check what you read and hear . Festus was spot on in his own way of course .
I love Ken Curtis and Festus also, this clip is not presented as original, with some extra "Haw-Haw's" edited in. Ken's singing, dancing , and overall charm made him a fan fave.
Ken Curtis and Milburn Stone, compliment each other so very well, I love the humor these to bring to the great series Gunsmoke. I really enjoy their characters. I wish there was more shows like Gunsmoke nowadays. enjoyed the post thanks.
in my home town I always walked for excersize and always walked by one of my neighbor's house they had a dog, a grey terrier or some half breed, very mangy and loud and handled their bigger dogs with its voice! I named that dog "Festus"(I don't think they called it that). I never talked to them much after I grew up, but as a kid I knew their two daughters. the dog was always around, they were not. so I never asked the dog's name but to me it(he/she) was "Festus"
On the Gunsmoke (original 30 minute shows), I have noticed Chester's 'one- liners.' He was quite witty! I looked up Dennis Weaver's bio this year. Wow! He was an accomplished man before becoming an actor.
James Mills WHAT!! Just watch the old shows! Dennis Weaver was bad!!! Festus was a lot better! Chester was just stupid! Festus couldn’t read or write but was street smart! Besides, how can you trust someone writen if they don’t know what they are writing!
Dennis weaver hurt the show after awhile because he kept taking off to work on other projects finally after awhile they told him nope see ya later. If it wasn’t for Burt Reynolds and Ken Curtis being there in Season 9 the show would’ve failed because they kept the audience interested
James Mills you dont know Great actors when you see one......Festus and Doc went together like pnut butter and jelly......such a great relationship between them two ......almost like an Old married couple
God bless his soul......he brought such joy, laughter and love to millions...
Love Ken Curtis!! Festus was the best!!
Festus I still love watching him🙋
I’ve watched Gunsmoke since I was a kid in the 60”s, and I can’t think of a better character actor than Ken Curtis.
Festus and Ernest T Bass are my favorite two of all time period.!
Jack Elam and Jeannette Nolan also great guest appearances!
As I watch western reruns, Jack Elam shows up everywhere! I had a hard time with his eyes!
Festus was great!! Chester was just a wimpy little tattle-tale. "Mr.Dillon,Mr.Dillon,there's a fight at the Long Branch,do sumpin!!"
Yes! In real life, Dennis Weaver was very much anti-gun. He was playing the character he was in real life.
I could watch Gunsmoke with Festus, all day everyday. He is one of the most talented actors I have ever seen. R.I.P. Festus we love you.
I do watch it every day for hours. I DVR every episode. I just started watching Gunsmoke about three years ago and was like-Where have you been all my life!
Great singer too.🤠😎🤓✌🏻
Yes he was great for sure. I remember him in Ripcord also. Ken Curtis and Larry Pennell.
Gotta LOVE Festus!

Hats off to Festus!!
Incredible actor. Gunsmoke got better the last ten years with Festus than Dennis Weaver,s character!!!!!
Yes! Chester was a buffoon! Festus was so much funnier!
Saw Ken Curtis (before the Festus character) in an early episode playing an Indian. They saw an obviously, very talented actor!
Doc was plumb tuckered out !
Festus is always larapin.
Thought I used to like festus better. But I didnt remember anything about Chester too small. All I remembered about him was being crippled and just yelling mr. Dillon after now watching old reruns of Chester he could be really funny but when he got mad he could have a temper.😄
You got to love him....lol..
I liked Marshall Dillon and Festus as the best ones on Gunsmoke to me.
Actually Festus was the prototype politician. After they explain something you say WTF! only difference is Festus had a good soul.
Got'cha dere Doc, by jimony😮!!! FLANG!!! FLANG!!!🤠😎🤓✌🏻
He sang pretty good too. The tumbleweed song.
Should have been the bestus of festus

JESUS saves you 😇❣️💞🙏❤️🙏
Festus and Doc Adams go together like mashed potatoes and gravy
Yes they like an old married couple😄
McCoy and Spock.
The banter and jabs at each other is hilarious! But just like siblings, when someone messes with them, they are BFF’s! ❤️ Festus is my favorite!
Yep! two peas in a pod. LOL!
Festus was a great character for Gunsmoke! He came along when the show needed a boost and it did.
Ken Curtis and Milburn Stone, compliment each other so very well, I love the humor these to bring to the great series Gunsmoke. I really enjoy their characters. I wish there was more shows like Gunsmoke nowadays. enjoyed the post thanks.
I grew up watching Gunsmoke and bonanza I'm 65 now. I still watch both. I got to meet doc and Festus at a roado
He has a beautiful singing voice!
Yes he did have one beautiful voice and he was handsome too!
I had the pleasure to meet Ken Curtis back in the 80's , I think he pretty much made the show !
A true statement. Festus is the bestus
I'd love to get Festus and Barney Fife together in the same room!
And Barney Fife would say this:
“ he’s a nut”
And Festus would reply "if'n ye wea'rent sa gall dern uppity n yer necks a'craining like an ole buzzard ye'd see uh whuts whaaut!"
dude that would be great, they would make a great posse of deputies LOL! good one.

Festus & Doc arguments best part of gunsmoke
Yep. I agree for sure.
I love Ken Curtis but I loved Dennis Weaver also I hated to see him go
On the Gunsmoke (original 30 minute shows), I have noticed Chester's 'one- liners.' He was quite witty! I looked up Dennis Weaver's bio this year. Wow! He was an accomplished man before becoming an actor.
they were both great, theyre two roles helped define the show, Dennis was great too in my books. I like em both.
My favorite “Festus-isms” are...”That was mighty thoughty of ya! “ “You old scuddard “.
I just love when he says " You old scuddard
scutter
Clockerwise, and contrary-clockerwise.
He is right people rarely consider where they get there info. Just like he said, Just because some feller wrote it does not mean he wrote it right.
It doesn't get any better than fastest he's a great actor
Ken Curtis, very talented actor and athlete, still holds California high school football records? Quarterback
Oh, Festus! Hes really something else!😅🤣😂Poor Doc! Then Festus follows him out the door! Golly Bill!😂
Festus for the rest of us 👍❤😁😁🐗🐂🐎🐎🐎
👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Festus should have got an Academy Award how he could turn Ken Curtis into and to Festus was amazing
Still the best ,on TV
FLANG ‘EM OUT SIDEWAYS!!
One of my favorite TV cops is Deputy Fetus Hagen. Honest and sincere and full of backwoods wisdom.
Doc & Festus- always at it! ☺
Festus for the rest of us!
Hello Festus he may not have been book educated but he was a smart man
Which is what we have with todays media
Doc gave up LOL!!!!!!!!
No one can tell history better
JESUS loves you.
Is that pure tea or.......lol wonder what they are drinking. Just like Seinfield. "Norm" drinking tea, too? lol... sorry, had to throw that in..
He was too funny omg
Festus's logic is unassailable.
What episode was that
Festus is the best

Destroyed gunsmoke chester dennis weaver was so much better festus was awful
James Mills WHAT!! Just watch the old shows! Dennis Weaver was bad!!! Festus was a lot better! Chester was just stupid! Festus couldn’t read or write but was street smart! Besides, how can you trust someone writen if they don’t know what they are writing!
Wrk,g Festus made the show. Chester not so much
Festus was alot tougher than Chester
Dennis weaver hurt the show after awhile because he kept taking off to work on other projects finally after awhile they told him nope see ya later. If it wasn’t for Burt Reynolds and Ken Curtis being there in Season 9 the show would’ve failed because they kept the audience interested
