Nicely done. Good thing you had them orange traction boards with you to get unstuck. The Racetrack Playa is another area in Death Valley I've always wanted to visit.
Great shots and video, man! And that you were able to get out of the sand. In a pinch, lowering tire pressure can also help. Something we do on the coasts when driving on sand at the beach. Clear skies to you guys!
I'm preparing for a death valley trip in the beginning of September right before new moon. Can't wait!! That blue horsehead shot is amazing, you shouldn't be too disappointed brother!
@@GalacticHunter Hey, I'm thinking of buying a telescope and heading to death valley around April . Do you have any recommendations on what types I should get. I will be a complete amateur but want to do this as a hobby as I love seeing the stars and milky way but I'd like to photograph them for myself as well.
You have a trailhawk. You gotta use '4 low' and rear differential lock. It would make very easy work of that deep sand without needing that expensive piece if plastic
It was interesting to see how well your sand skis worked. I'm impressed! No, I don't do donuts in the sand trying to get stuck, like someone I know :), and still, I recently came very close in the Mojave Preserve. I've decided these are a must have for my vehicle...
Tire pressure is the key to sand driving just make sure you have a compressor with you so you can air back up when you get to the pavement. Running too low a pressure on the pavement will damage the tires and the damage is mostly internal so you won’t know it’s damaged until it blows out on you. Good on on you for having Maxtrax but maybe look into getting a Spot or Garmin InReach, or at least a ham license and radio. The desert has plenty of emergencies other than getting stuck.
Thank you for the tips! Still learning off roading but it's super fun, I actually do carry a compressor at all time so I should have thought about letting some air out of the tires
Thanks! I've been wanting to do this (pick a star at random that's almost never image and go bananas on it) but my list of deep sky objects to capture is always so full that I never take the time to do it haha. But it will happen at some point!
You guys should come to my dark site. My Friend and I have been getting some amazing images from this location... Middle of the Sonoran Desert, near Yuma Arizona. Also we have the Imperial Sand Dune recreation site.
@@AZ4Runner yep I realized that after commenting! you guys are lucky to have an actual spot! I have to set up on a minimum maintenance road through a field!
@@GalacticHunter Maybe just looks a little scary and when you're living out of a vehicle I guess that works. I have ate some of those pack packing foods that aren't half bad. I think some where made by Mountain Home f I remember correctly. Oh well it's not really about the food anyway. Nice photos!
Another great video! But I miss Dalia. If she came along she could have pushed you out of the sand trap easily. Wonderful image of the Blue Horse head.
Hi Antoine. What was the device you placed under your wheel to help you get unstuck from the sand? Was it made for doing that or just something you had and were lucky it worked?
Yes same I was never a fan on composite photos, although imo it is "acceptable" if the foreground and sky match what you see in real life. I'd never stick a Milky Way to the North just because it's pretty :D
@@GalacticHunter It’s certainly a thin line…especially from different locations. As long as it is declared (as you rightly did). Just my 2p as a purist. General Art is of course something else.

Awesome! This is your best post.

That cave with the light coming through is todays microsoft windows welcome page on my laptop. Its amazing to you there. :-)
Very cool video Antoine! Thanks for sharing this.
So lucky you got out of the sand. A good life lesson there! Great images at the end. I think that 12 hour horsehead was still worth it.

Looked like a great adventure! Loved all the images.
Well sorry about getting stuck, good idea on the sand wedge. Very nice work on the star trails and the dunes !!
Thank you bro!!

Thank you! Hopefully DV won't be too hot in September... it was already very hot when this was shot last month

Absolutely amazing Milky Way shots

Amazing pictures

I have to say I got very scared when I was recording this lol... wasn't sure if the skis would work and it was such a relief!
Ha. When you get stuck in sand tie the sand helpers to the jeep so when you pull off you take them with you 👍

For summer in Death Valley try Ulida Flat (elev.~5,000 ft--actually cold at night in August.
Hey, the final pic was amazing! Why don't you try shooting a random star and see if there will be any nebulocity around it, i think that would be cool

Looks like a great time. Quite honestly though I'd rethink the food issue, yucky looking. Maybe try granola bars or possible some of those Kind bars.
I actually fell in love with that chicken and rice, that was surprisingly very tasty!

Thanks, Dalia can't be in all the videos because of her job :/
Could you share any info on where that cave with the light beam coming inside is? Where in the natural preserve? I would love to get a shot sometime.
Be careful in the Mohave. Alot of weird stories come out of there.
