Appreciate the concise and well-prepared review very much, and especially appreciate hearing why someone doesn't like a hyped up game in detail. Even though the battle phase isn't a turn off for me, I'm grateful to know it's there and a significant chunk of playtime -- super helpful in deciding whether or not I want to pick this up (or even risk late backing the deluxe edition). Thank you!
Lee and several of the other players we played with really enjoyed the game and the battling mechanics. Kenny is most definitely in the minority on this one.
I played this months ago and wasn’t sold on it either. It was fun but there are some minor things I think needed a little more time spent like the turn order each round. Glad to know your thoughts on it also. I am wanting to play again and give it another shot before I just write it off.
Too bad you guys don't really like the game. It's such an amazing game. My group does not find it boring as you both did. We found the game to be so much fun. The more we play it, the more we learn about the great design behind it. How many times have you both played the game?.
Lee really enjoys the game and Kenny likes aspects of it, just not the war phase - which is the bulk of the game. There are definitely lots of things to like about it and we can understand why lots of people love it. We’ve played the game at varying player counts six times all the way through.
My wife and I really wanted to love this game. Went all in on everything. Unfortunately, I also felt disappointed with the 2nd half. For the time commitment, and everything, I think we just prefer to play other games. I think it's collected enough dust to finally let it go.
Agree on the time commitment sentiment. Lots of board games to play and only so little time. Seems that people either love it or feel “ehh” about it. We’re good examples of that with Lee really enjoying it and Kenny feeling ehh.
