- CBS News Colorado Weekend Anchor and Reporter Kennedy Cook chatted with a postal service worker who recalls her experiences as a mail carrier as USPS looks to protect its members, while there's been an uptick of safety incidents.
I worked at US Postal Service for 37 1/2 years now retired .bit by a dog 3 times but still a good place to work. Good retirement, medical sick leave and vacation leave good , kind , caring customer on my route. Sure I missed the delivery free exercise(walking going up and down stairs) co-workers help each other specially during holidays.

Sue the owners for not securing their animal. What if it was a child

Maybe if she wore her satchel correctly, and had her dog spray on her at the time, she probably wouldn’t have gotten bit. She could have used the satchel as a distraction. Also she’s not wearing the proper foot wear.
Bitten twice… of course it felt horrible… it’s a very painful and dangerous job😞
Each branch is different. We are not allowed to wear colors footwear only black shoes, don't talk or use headphones or cellphone unless on a break time or emergency, gosh they have a pro master with a/c. I was in a portal for postal magazines for dogs awareness. Also make sure to case a dog warning cards so other carriers will know.

You mean you guys Branch cause the post office is one huge Corporate office full of Branches. Safety black shoes are more appropriate and unless some Rural carriers they can wear whatever they want and use their own car to deliver the mail. CCA's can also wear any color since they are not in the allowance for purchasing postal uniforms or safety black shoes. I'm under OWCP since I've been in many unsafe LLV injuries but I'm still working tho. Weird they are allowed to Post this cause in union agreement we're not allowed waste time for vids or use phone unless breaks and lunch or off of the clock but not Postal service Time. I'm a City Carrier '03
The job itself is horrible they talk about this but the news won’t talk about the abusive management that carrier deal with everyday.

That's what I was thinking.
PO is a terrible company to work for. My gf injured her back permanently and she was getting over worked because management would play games trying to call regulars at 9am and they'd never come in because they didn't have to. 2 RCAs ended up getting worked to death because the manager was playing favorites with the black folks, always letting them go home when they're done instead of having to split a route, when my gf was the lead RCA, she was getting worked way harder than the newer RCAs because they're black. They don't care about seniority or grievances. That manager was suspended for a couple months after dozens of grievances and now she's a postmaster! Racist POS! My gf takes pain meds every day and only works part time now and there's nothing she can do about what happened to her at work. Not to mention I had to replace her transmission after 3 years at 120k miles. The damage done to her car wasn't even worth what they paid her. You average $25k/yr after factoring gas and they expect way too much work. Pizza delivery pays the same with a fraction of the effort or bs! They don't deserve to get funded by Congress and still pay the RCAs crap money. Most of those regulars became regulars before Amazon made it tough.
Have her call Shapiro Law in Boston ,Mass. Specialist to law firm.
Don't know about the racist part, but everything else you said is RIGHT! The po is garbage place to work. They overwhelme carriers with tons and tons of work
Treat Rca like slaves. I'd never work for them again. Never. My son was offered a job, I told him he'll no! Dont take it. Besides people think the po pays so well. Bs. No they don't for the amount of work
Only those who been there forever, and who tf wants to do that is beyond me, make any decent money.
Why was she using her personal vehicle to deliver mail? That's not authorized.
@@munk4hire It's called a Rural Carrier Associate. They use their own personal vehicle to deliver everything.

Why we still have USPS is beyond me. It’s completely obsolete and their customer service is outrageous! They NEVER deliver my packages to my apartment on time and I’m ALWAYS forced to pick up my packages directly at the post office even though I payed for delivery!!
