I think thats too much "worth" in the negative impact someone like Ben Gravy might have on the future of surfing. He just loves surfing and found a community on YT that enjoys his show. The future of surfing looks good when yoi see the homegrown companies coming up, the mass of amazing surfers you can find at the drop of a hat in any surfing google search. I dont see any reason to place Ben in a negative impact. Thanka for letting me share!
Thank you for sharing! Hope you subscribe to the podcast! No one is taking away from Ben and positivity. He just has an outsize group of young followers that idolize his surfing instead of maybe, Dane or Mikey Feb.

Let's be honest, slinging soft tops and popouts is undignified. Gravy, JOB, Kalani Rob, even Gerry are all figuratively aqua dumping on the daily. Peak No barrel! That said all of them surf way better than average surfers. Yes, including BG.

I think they can make some texts funnier and lighter.
Sometimes you can text something and because there is no tone or a way to let the other person to know if you are serious or kidding etc...

For a change, try out Encinitas Chauo Chocolatier FRESH bonbons & truffles ... to die for! Once I had some shipped to Hawai'i ... they packed them in dry ice and mailed over night express ... well worth it every now and then.

Black flag lived in our living room of house in Hollywood summer 1981 I met Henry as he rolled out of the van when they arrived not one tattoo yet, they rehearsed the damaged album there ...I had the same thought that when I saw that Aussie wearing a black flag shirt in the you tube thumbnail... Henry would punch you for wearing that...duh dude

@@SurfSplendor well I listen to you guys from my beachfront pad in Eastern Samar, Philippines got a lot of time here and a degree in writing from UC Santa Cruz so get ready for the full length reply; graduated San Chlamydia High (SC was small then and we used to say " you don't lose your GF you just lose your turn) anyway there were like 5 people into Punk Rock then, SC was super conformist reactionary place then both in and out of the water. If you didn't wear velour shirts with a turtleneck you were a kook lol so in spite of all the line up heckling for daring to leave SC on Friday nite and going to Hollywood to go see "gay" and weird bands I met a girl at the whiskey a go go Stiff Little Fingers gig (groundbreaking Irish Band) she took me to premier of Decline of Western Civilization (LAPD vs punk rock night of infamy) which was a movie about all her friends and their bands. She was part of a group of kids called The Connected who had a big two story victorian in Hollywood on St Andrews ( yes the one mentioned in the song Jane Says by J addiction) She was Abit older at 22 had a job at Slash magazine where hung out a lot, the kids were: Mark Alva, Brian Cullen (Venice OG heavy nowadays, Emil (-future pro surfer and at 15 replaced Robo on drums for black flag and stated by Henry in his book as the best drummer they ever had. Emil half black long dreadlocks and OG venice/Hollywood punk rock definitely style trendsetter as the first ever in all those categories. He also ripped and had great surf style. there were about ten of us permanently lived there at 17 I was the oldest guy. The other girls were couple years older and paid the rent they were remnants of the Germs close knit cult Sooo living there as a sheltered Riviera Beach San Clemente kids was an epiphany in itself. Tony Alva, Jay Adams and all the Dogtown OGs were around and again was eye opening being from SC we were hardcore in a surf sense but the Venice guys were a whole other sort of core, immersed in the Hollywood punk music scene X, 45 Grave, Slash Magazine at that time was eye opening as well. Darby Crash had OD'd across the street a while before so there was a heaviness about the vibe. When Black FLag returned from east coast Henry had just joined they crashed at our place since they were all friends of the crew I lived with , the damaged album cover photo was done in our bathroom.
PS. Our house was the basis for the movie Suburbia directed by Penelope Spheeris who also put out The Decline of Western Civilization. She came bought beer and interviewed us about how we individually ended up there and based her characters on us. She changed the our crew from 'The Connected' to 'The Rejected' dumbed it hollywood down a bit. As the only kid from Orange County my character was thoroughly remashed lol
