What a wonderful lesson 😊! Your clarification is very useful for some of the confusing points in English that I sometimes make mistakes in using them, especially in speaking 🗣️, but this lesson may help me overcome them. Teacher Wes thank you so much indeed 🙏!
Dear Wes in the spanish language we say " he is going to the University to study" but in english you omitt the article the. ," he is going to university to study" could you elaborate on that point.
I definitely have a long road to go, but it's better late than never, I'd never gone to school, and I grew up in too much ignorance, I'm not to be crying here, but more than anything it's because of my experience of life, it has been not too much in the prosperous side even that I have so many useful skills, certainly that should be enough, but I have come to the realization that I'm constrained by my communication skills, so I thank you for sharing all your knowledge, it is are very needed to many people.
Thks a million Wes for always sharing excellent lessons I trust you have special place in your student heart I really eppreciate yr effort for doing this
Hey thanks for these lessons, you explain them very well! I was wondering If you could do a lesson on verb moods, the indicative, imperative and subjunctive. Greetings from Argentina!!😁
Given the fact that, it is one of the greatest videos on UA-cam someone ever worked on and this distinction is always made by wes.. quite clueless to gather words to say thank you and you fixed many of my grammar errors as well. If the dictionary provides a word that could beat thank you I would write here because only thanks is not enough.. Hats off to you..make more videos like this to fix our grammar and fundamentals as well..hats off to you. love from Pakistan ❤❤❤
For me it's - recurring vs recurrent - constraint vs restraint - continuous, continued, continual and continuing. - concise vs succinct - skillful vs skilled - unsettling vs disturbing For most foreigners, it's hard to spot the difference as it is subtle.
I guess there was a younger and smarter version of you in this video too. It takes a lot of guts and gumption to make a video like this. This is for those who really wanna learn the language right. Real smart video for those who wanna learn the nuances of the language. Godspeed
Great video! Would you happen to have another one of these with more specific challenging words? Such as the adjectives ‘prosaic’ vs. ‘pedestrian’? Btw has anyone said you kinda look like Luke Skywalker? Haha not roasting I promise
Every time I watch one of your videos I always feel as if I hardly know any English. 😢. The good news is that I don't want to give up on learning more and more Emglish
Hi Wes. I want to ask, if I say" We met when we were in school", does it mean that we were students at the same school? And if I say" We met at school", does it mean that we were not students? We might be parents of students who went to the same school or we might be the guests/visitors of the school. I compare those sentences with these sentences " I was in hospital", means that I was a patient receiving medical treatments. And "I was at the hospital", means that I was a guest visiting my uncle. I'm confused. Please kindly enlighten me. Thank you.
Don't say his name Don't tell me his name The difference between the two sentences highlights the difference between the two verbs. There's also "to tell" in the sense of figuring out, or understanding.. I can't tell who's the older brother Can you tell the time?
Dear Wes in spanish we say "he is going to the university to study" in english you omit the article the " he is going to univetsity to study" can you elaborate on why this is done.
I have a question, if I want to use the services such as doing lazer treatment or doing facial massage am I a client or a patient? Because I don’t feel my self sick why should I call myself a patient. Is there any alternative option that would sound better? Helpppp
We don't know. In English, this is referred to as 'structural ambiguity.' It could be either the mom or daughter who is drunk. Another example - The man saw the woman with the telescope. 🔭
now u r talking. U dropped the interactive part in this clip which is dead boring!!! I m gonna go out on a limb and say the interactive thingy u have going on take up too much time that otherwise could use for more fresh material. Where do you find word usage graphics? Also thanks for the lesson you're the best🎉
Glad you enjoyed the lesson. Any graphics that I use are ones that I create using Final Cut Pro. 👍
You should also mention part of speech of the words along with the meaning.
I'll keep that in mind for the future. Thanks for commenting & checking out the lesson. 🤗
Don't say his name
Don't tell me his name

Snuff out-extinguish
Firefighters extinguish fire
Firefighters snuff out fire
Is that right?
Yes, they have similar meanings. Of course, in this context it's more common to say 'extinguish' or even 'put out.' 👍
I.e.= id est (that is); e.g.=exempli gratia (for example). Both come from Latin.
Dear Wes in spanish we say "he is going to the university to study" in english you omit the article the " he is going to univetsity to study" can you elaborate on why this is done.
Do you say e.g or i.e out loud ?🤔.
I thought they were written that way, but said for their meaning orally speaking: for example, that is.
You don't really use them in spoken English. Possibly if you're trying to emphasize something but it's not common. 👍
I have a question, if I want to use the services such as doing lazer treatment or doing facial massage am I a client or a patient?
Because I don’t feel my self sick why should I call myself a patient. Is there any alternative option that would sound better? Helpppp
Sir , can you share in youtude the topic of Literature Reveiw ?
Research Methodology in Education?
I'll keep that in mind for the future. 👍
Metal, we sound a ‘t’ and not a ‘d’ when pronouncing. We speak British English.
To me, a better example would have been ‘medal’ vs ‘meddle’.
In American English, people use a Flap T so they end up sounding the same. 😊
@@InteractiveEng okay 😊
I love your class., Good bless you

Can I ask what your nationality is Wes?
I'm from the US, but right now I live in Europe. 😊
Can we use this in a passive voice? Like my book is burned up. My house is burned down.
It sounds awkward in the passive because the phrasal verb is not describing an action done by the actor. 👍
Mum beats up her daughter because she was drunk. Here who was drunk? Please help.
We don't know. In English, this is referred to as 'structural ambiguity.' It could be either the mom or daughter who is drunk. Another example - The man saw the woman with the telescope. 🔭
I got one incorrect. "We wanted to sit _at_ the front of the plane", I said, "We wanted to sit _in_ the front of the plane"
Thanks for commenting & participating in the lesson. 👍
Many times I’ve heard “sleep in a bus/plane” used by a native speaker. Why not “on”?
That's one of those cases in which either preposition would work. 👍
@@InteractiveEng ok, thanks! :-)
It's worth zero in on
