Trevor is the nicest guy ever I used to live downstairs from him in park slope Brooklyn and he has the most badass music collection and great to talk about music we really got on the whole old doo wop groups, the guy is just great and very unique
Mr. Bungle is my all-time favorite band. I can't believe I'm just discovering this episode now. I really hope we get another Bungle album now that they've started playing a few shows.
Trey and Trevor had another band called Scourge which I saw in Humboldt at a house party in '87. Incredible. If only they would release the demo recordings.
Trevor was the most unassuming of the better known musicians I've spoken with - really totally untouched by his fame. Check out his group Endangered Blood ~ amazing trad jazz with a weird avant pop twist, very cool stuff.
@@GLB223 I would actually as far as to say he’s massively underrated. Like most folks outside of the mainstream don’t know who Trevor Dunn is, and that’s a shame given how prolific and interesting he is.
man, this guy is listening to some diverse music. I'm a bass player myself and I'd love to be on Trevor's level one day. dat Ars Moriendi bass line, hnnnnnnnnnnnnnng.
Trevor, been a big fan since the first Mr. Bungle album.. you have amazed and tickled my brain with your bass lines and production work. Thank you VERY much!
I remember seeing this guy pissing into the french fry fryer at Marsugies night club back in the early 90's in San Jose, Ca when Mr. Bungle played there. Right before he did it a friend at mine who worked at the club said "These guys are going to be super famous". Glad it wasn't from pissing on french fries.
samples in order are mr. bungle - retrovertigo mr. Bungle - platypus trio convulsant - liver colored dew mr. bungle - travolta/quote unquote mr bungle - vanity fair the dreamers - ulwatu madlove - thread and vanity fair again
nice knowledge bud! you missed one though. 'Love Is A Fist" is playing in the background right after they talk about pettiford. and also for like half a second at the very end of the video. Trevor Dunn is a legend!
@@amoeba hes a legend the same with anyone in mr.bungle and Faith no more. But Mike top tier vocalist of rock lol up there with chris Cornell and many more lol
Great finds..!! Love that Oscar Pettiford LP.. awesome record..! And does anyone know the name of the song and artist at the end of this video? Sounds like Mike Patton singing..
@filthee1977 Thanks so much..!! Appreciate it.. I've actually never heard this record(California) only the first record. I'm listening to some clips of California online right now and I'm diggin' what I've heard so far.. I I used to see them a lot here in the Bay Area back in the 90's.. Great band.. Thanks again..!!

You are one lucky human
Dunn is such a great writer. Retrovertigo is a piece of songwriting genius.

This comment ages just right
Trevor Dunn and Trey Spruance are from other planets. Such unique characters. Their level of creativity is off the charts!

@@Heavy_Distortion scourge recordings from 91 on UA-cam
@@bennievargas2673 Correction - I saw Scourge in 1990 (not 1987) since they were only active one year. I knew members of Bungle and Psyclones.
@@Heavy_Distortion was it opening for gwar?
@@Heavy_Distortion i think also the recordings are from 90 also.
What's in my bag? Quiet! Don't tell anybody! Don't let 'em knooow! It's a secret!
damn, no love for disco Volante?
Haha, that was funny! One of my favorite albums! After laughter, had to log in just to comment
I don't know what the title or even the actual tune but the lyrics feels vaguely familiar. What is that song?
Shannen Canton it's a hidde.... actually like trev said. It's a secret!
the notif had the full message ahahah, I know the secret song now. Somehow, I found out.
I like the extra little "love is a fist!" in the closing card.
Mad respect for Trevor Dunn. Retrovertigo is a pop rock satire masterpiece.
Love this guy.. He's one of the greatest bassist in rock hands down.. Mad Love!

Thanks, I was looking for that third song
Well done
Trevor is a nice guy 😁😁
Desperately waiting for a Patton "What's in my Bag?". I think I will be waiting forever...
We haven’t had an opportunity to get him in for an episode, but he’s someone we would love to have on. It’ll happen one day.
@@amoeba I'm sure it's not from a lack of trying on your part. He seems to be spread pretty thin at all times. But yeah, hopefully someday!

TREV .... legend! Love you!

so low key and true to life, a guy like him could be a major a-hole but instead he's a class act, hell yeah.!
Trevor is cute.
He is
Even cuter when he's in a milkmaid costume

what a great guy!
I went down to amoeba after watching this, got some John Cage. Really enjoying it. thanks T
Hey Amoeba, what about an episode with Mike Patton? That guy's very eclectic, would be interesting to see him in this series too.
They have to do one episode with Mike for sure
I hope they do it eventually haha
I think he would do it now if they reached out. Maybe if they took a Thorogood approach, he could do it "remotely".
Next they could have Trey Spruance. That would be really interesting.
Cool to see him get a Lachenmann CD!!
Thank you
What a shame. He looked right past the Weird Al "Running with Scissors" CD
Haha, yeah. I would say the same about Dane Cook, but Dane Cook sucks. Anyway, Bungle rules!
He's a nice bloke. I want to befriend him.
Trevors wearing a Los Bagels T-Shirt! Represent!
You profiled Trevor Dunn and didn't feature Dead Goon in the BGM?
Lennie Tristano!!! Ocsar Pettiford! Yeah!
There's actually a third song between Platypus and Quote Unquote. It's a song by the Trevor Dunn Trio Convulsant.
Trevor's the only one that I've ever heard of out of all the records that he showed off. 😂
Los Bagels shirt!
Thanks!

thanks.
good lookin out.
thanks!
He is NICE
Serious question, is that Nick Swardson interviewing?
@MELONMOVIES Don't worry guys I found it what it is, it's "Liver-Coloured Dew" by Trevor Dunn's Trio-Convulsant!!!
kick ass man
That is incorrect. Trey's band SC3 has the original Bungle drummer in it.
@MosquitoNeck Platypus by Mr Bungle, Liver-Colored Dew by Trio Convulsant, Travolta by Mr Bungle
We need a Mike Patton WIMB!!!
Anybody knows what isbthe name of Tristano tune in video. it is not on "Live in NY" CD . Thanks
To answer myself after 8 years: it is Yesterdays from Crosscurrents record. Thank you me. love
Reminds me of diedrich bader...
Pretty cool dude
nice Los Bagles shirt!
Mike Patton or Trey Spruance please
I believe Lennie Tristano was Joe Satriani's music teacher at one point.
I saw randomly a youtuber blumaan and he looks so much like trevor.look him up is it just me or he really does
With the exception of Mike and Trevor, none of the members are on speaking terms, as far as I know.
@DolphinRevolution YES
What Lennie Tristano piece plays at 0:35?
Trevor seems like a guy I'd get along with...
los bagels shirt from Arcata
@DolphinRevolution Me too dude...
You are correct. My error.
It would be really cool if they could get Quentin Tarantino to do one of these.
We’ve asked him, but it didn’t work out.
2:07
who does he say??
they dont show the cover of that one...just my luck..argg..
What's the song in-between Platypus and Travolta (Quote Unquote)?
Does anyone know the song that is played by the Bronx?
Los Bagels!!!!
Do you also know at 0:15?
Dunn was in Tipsy?? 0_0
What MadLove song was that at 4:30?
What year was this? Grizzly bear sounds like music from the present
The publishing date of the video is 2011, but that Grizzly Bear album was released in 2009.
Liver-Colored Dew by Trevor Dunn's Trio Convulsant
Helmut Lachenmann
He seems like a hip fella.

I like how he said, "new Dirty Projectors," meanwhile it came out in '09.
What is the name of that Tristano tune in the beggining? It is not on that "Live in NY" CD. Anybody?
What are the two samples played between 0:10 and 0:19?
