    Went to Parap market in late December last year and used my rusty Thai to order mango sticky rice. The drink stalls definitely do a roaring trade because of the heat and humidity.

    Mostly for clients they put 1 - 4 chillis in the som tum. When they they do their own it is 8 - 13 (typically).

    Wish I could speak Thai as fluently as you do! It's one of the most difficult second languages to learn. Trying to memorise the alphabet killed me!

      It is depending of the way that you are learning it. I am using the linguaphone books, and it is even funny for me because I don't have to learn its names, just the pronounciation. Paddy said, when you know all the alphabet, everything becomes easier.

    I've not seen Paddy sweat or remark about hot weather in Thailand. Puts into perspective how hot and humid Darwin is! Not sure what month this is but bear in mind when he says 32 degrees celsius at @7:33, it's prob with 75% humidity!

    You get as excited as I do when speaking Thai outside of Thailand. I'm also a native English speaker. The excitement always makes for a bit of awkwardness haha. You're really good speaker though and I pick up vocab from you sometimes.

    I’ve been to Thailand more times than I can remember and speak a little bit (I can understand more than I can speak which is weird!) my Thai wife won’t teach me! Having watched many of your videos recently I am massively impressed with your thai for a “farang” is there any apps or programs you recommend for learning Thai? Keep up the good work! Much respect from the UK

      Hey Glen! I always recommend going to an in-person school if possible. If not, this channel actually partners with Ling App and I think they are the best online app that I’ve seen which teaches Thai (see link below). Although there lots of different resources out there

    I was at a Songkran festival up at Noosa north of Brisbane weekend before last it quite large with monks, ceremonies and dancing. Should visit the many Thais living in beautiful wark South East Queensland

    The nearest Thai restaurant to me (in Melbourne) that has papaya salad charges almost $20. To be fair, papaya isn't that common down here and it's probably expensive. It's easier to find in Queensland and NT.

    I posted this question to Tim Newton, who lives in Thailand if he ever was to leave, Thailand would he go stay in Darwin since he said he hated the cold his response was never. But he wouldn't mind staying in Cairns.

    Paddy, when I was in culinary school, I made a "Tom Yung Kha" from scratch for my mid-term. I got a 99/100, which is spectacular. I lost 1 point because Chef said he wanted it hotter! 🌶️🌶️ 🇺🇸🤝🇦🇺

      Immigrants are people planning on living in a country permanently and possibly becoming citizens. Expat is a much broader category. If you are sent by your company for a few year assignment, then you are an expat.
      Digital nomad staying in a country for a few years... expat.
      If the people in this video have Australian citizenship or are working towards it, they are immigrants.
      If not and they plan on returning home after reaching their financial goals, they are expats.
      Immigrating to the West is much easier than immigrating to the East, hence more expats in the East.

    I am Cambodian, understand and speak 50% Thai and abit of Vietnamese. I used to lived in Thailand. Don’t ever forget Chinese ( Tai) China stole part of Cambodia in the West and huge section in East too which this day Vietnam. In 21 century China robbed the world.

    You asked where are you from in Thailand and used ที่ ประเทศชาติ ไทย however, when you are in the country as you are asking the question you would have to use ใน but if you are talking about Australia while in Thailand then you would use ที่
