You’re an inspiration to keep studying Thai. Also watching your videos counts as studying because I get a few new words each time😁
Glad to hear that!
Your Thai has become so great mate, very inspirational✌️
thank you so much!
Went to Parap market in late December last year and used my rusty Thai to order mango sticky rice. The drink stalls definitely do a roaring trade because of the heat and humidity.
That was excellent Paddy, and as others have said below, I too am studying speaking Thai, and listening and understanding what you say without the subtitles ... sometimes ;)
I love these interactions Paddy. Great work.
Absolutely love Darwin! It definitely doesn't feel like the rest of Australia up there (I'm from Perth). Can't wait to go back and experience how it's changed in the past 3 years since I was last there. Thanks for video mate!
Speaking fluent Thai is quite an accomplishment. Congrats.
32 degrees sounds pretty nice right now! It's been over 40 for the last 1.5 months in Chiang Mai and every day I'm amazed that I haven't melted into a pile of goo.
Hi Paddy... always enjoy your video. Come to Brisbane and come to Woodridge market. Open every Sunday. Lots of Thai food and stalls. Hope to see you there one day.
Would absolutely love to! Thanks Ben 🙏
Another great video! Looking forward the next 3 in the series!
Mostly for clients they put 1 - 4 chillis in the som tum. When they they do their own it is 8 - 13 (typically).
Thank you, Paddy.
Great video as usual.
Keep up the good work.
Cheers.👍👍👍
Thanks Chris 🙏
Wish I could speak Thai as fluently as you do! It's one of the most difficult second languages to learn. Trying to memorise the alphabet killed me!
Keep going, keep going! You will get there I guarantee 👌
@@ThaiTalkwithPaddy ขอบคุณมาก 🙏
Thai is easy compared to Vietnamese
It is depending of the way that you are learning it. I am using the linguaphone books, and it is even funny for me because I don't have to learn its names, just the pronounciation. Paddy said, when you know all the alphabet, everything becomes easier.
I've not seen Paddy sweat or remark about hot weather in Thailand. Puts into perspective how hot and humid Darwin is! Not sure what month this is but bear in mind when he says 32 degrees celsius at @7:33, it's prob with 75% humidity!
Great idea and report from Darwin there, Paddy! Really enjoyed this one!
Very glad you enjoyed it Martin! Thanks as always
Showed this to my thai gf , she freaked out lol
Cool video mate, I’m currently training Muay Thai in Thailand but live in Perth. When I get home I’m going to make an effort to discover the Thai presence in my city !!
Your Thai is so good 👍👍👍
You get as excited as I do when speaking Thai outside of Thailand. I'm also a native English speaker. The excitement always makes for a bit of awkwardness haha. You're really good speaker though and I pick up vocab from you sometimes.
Was in Darwin in 1983, also then went up to kackadoo national park.
Wish you happiness 💗♥️💕
Great video 👏
good on you mate..........I lived in Singapore for a few years as a child in the 70s.........I learnt a bit of Malay, and even now can still say a few words & sentences.......I love that part of the world......
I’ve been to Thailand more times than I can remember and speak a little bit (I can understand more than I can speak which is weird!) my Thai wife won’t teach me! Having watched many of your videos recently I am massively impressed with your thai for a “farang” is there any apps or programs you recommend for learning Thai? Keep up the good work! Much respect from the UK
Hey Glen! I always recommend going to an in-person school if possible. If not, this channel actually partners with Ling App and I think they are the best online app that I’ve seen which teaches Thai (see link below). Although there lots of different resources out there

Kob Khun Kab Paddy!
Paddy I wish I knew you were coming to Darwin.
I would have made the time to catch up with you.
I aspire to be able to speak Thai as fluently as yourself.
Great to see you sharing some of the wonderful things about living in Darwin and are smorgasbord of Asian cultures and food here.
Darwin is the Multicultural Capital of the world. 🙏🙏
Would have loved to have caught up before I left! Loved my time in the NT and Darwin is a great city
Goodonya Paddy, sharing a bit of Darwin and the troppo north :) ... great to see you flip flop between Thai and Aussie. Your fluent Thai inspires me to learn when I move to Bangkok later this year, keep sharing your experiences, theyre always interesting.
Thanks so much for watching Paul! Glad you got a kick out of it!
Good luck with the move to Bangkok 👌
I was at a Songkran festival up at Noosa north of Brisbane weekend before last it quite large with monks, ceremonies and dancing. Should visit the many Thais living in beautiful wark South East Queensland
Would love to one day!
Awesome What an inspiration😎🙏👌🍻Ne non 👍
Yes, there are awesome markets in Darwin.
Good job 👏
Nice, I like it.
Nailed it even with that nasal twang. Well done mate. I don't speak it but it does sound pretty good.
Hey Paddy, I gave you a Like and it was #555, 555
The System has throught me out 3 times! Great job on ภาษาไทย! (Marlies)
that's awesome place to travel my friend i will go there one of this day 😂
Lol. That one guy at the salad place, wasn't impressed. Had that what is this Farang think hes doing talking Thai. Lol.
Quality video
The nearest Thai restaurant to me (in Melbourne) that has papaya salad charges almost $20. To be fair, papaya isn't that common down here and it's probably expensive. It's easier to find in Queensland and NT.
Great video as always, Paddy. I’m guessing those Isaan people aren’t eating that som tum. No pla ra or crab paste etc. But probably way too much sugar.
you speak very well :D I just wonder how you focus on listening their tones with the noise of others
Paddy, Darwin is the capital city of NT
The somtum place is called อภิสรา โภชนา Apisara pochna
Hello paddy ✌️
Mango smoothie
nice one brother :D:D
Sangat ❤
man I'd love to experience 32 degrees again, it's been a solid 40 here for ages
Very impressive.
You should try Cambodia food as well. It is delicious and amazing 😊
I posted this question to Tim Newton, who lives in Thailand if he ever was to leave, Thailand would he go stay in Darwin since he said he hated the cold his response was never. But he wouldn't mind staying in Cairns.
I love
Sa wah di cup 🇦🇺🇹🇭👍✌️🙏
❤❤❤
Why น้ำมะม่วง, and not น้ำมะม่วงปั่น ? You wanted a mango smoothie but ordered a mango juice. 🧐🤨
Speak more Thai so I can practice more :D listening to you speak Thai is great, I can understand you much better than native Thais
Bloody expensive would have cost you 100 bahts for drink and meal in Pattaya market
Paddy, when I was in culinary school, I made a "Tom Yung Kha" from scratch for my mid-term. I got a 99/100, which is spectacular. I lost 1 point because Chef said he wanted it hotter! 🌶️🌶️ 🇺🇸🤝🇦🇺
cheer you
To make sure I don't get wussy Aussified non-spicy Thai food in Australia I always say
7:08 Lion dance
Yeh my bad 🤷♂️
Your Thai is awesome! Unfortunately I am stuck at my level even I talk to my wife only in Thai since 13 years. Fluent but not 100% correct.
Ha it says awkward Aussie guy he’s not awkward!
Som Tam, mai phed, som tam, mai aroi !@@
Yeah I knew they wouldn't be overly happy with you speaking Thai, probably thinking 🤔 shit did I say something bad about farang when he was around 😁.....
Darwin is tropical climate like the rest of northern Australia
Kokun KRAP...thank'U
Kokun kra POM....u use for elders or your boss
Just a question why is western people moving to another country called expats and otherwise they are called immigrants😂
Immigrants are people planning on living in a country permanently and possibly becoming citizens. Expat is a much broader category. If you are sent by your company for a few year assignment, then you are an expat.
Digital nomad staying in a country for a few years... expat.
If the people in this video have Australian citizenship or are working towards it, they are immigrants.
If not and they plan on returning home after reaching their financial goals, they are expats.
Immigrating to the West is much easier than immigrating to the East, hence more expats in the East.
Is this where evolution was 1st discovered?
No, this is where Darwin Awards come from.
I am Cambodian, understand and speak 50% Thai and abit of Vietnamese. I used to lived in Thailand. Don’t ever forget Chinese ( Tai) China stole part of Cambodia in the West and huge section in East too which this day Vietnam. In 21 century China robbed the world.
You’re very sweaty… must be hot there! 🥵
When are you going to marry Mahrai.Katherine?❤
Crocodile city
It's a lion dance, not a dragon brother .
Whats the big deal, lots of westerners speak thai
All that time you spent learning Thai you could of been doing something useful
All that time you spend watching UA-cam you could have been learning proper English. (not "could of")
@@CaptainKremmen explain
@@testicool013"could have" not "could of" - learn one language properly (and some manners) before you seek out a specifically bi-lingual UA-cam channel and bag on it for being bi-lingual. 🤫 Also, maybe check your racist quota for the week. 🤨

@@testicool013 Exactly.
Awesome video... and damn I can almost completely understand this video without reading the subtitles. 🥹 But my Thai speaking skills are still so bad.. how do I bridge the gap Paddy? What's your experience?
Keep speaking! Practice with a patient friend / teacher
You asked where are you from in Thailand and used ที่ ประเทศชาติ ไทย however, when you are in the country as you are asking the question you would have to use ใน but if you are talking about Australia while in Thailand then you would use ที่
