This video is part of the reason that I started working out in January and got started with a personal trainer. And I'm happy to say that I'm still going strong, going to the gym at least 5 times a week and doing some exercise at home when I can't get to the gym. And I've lost 30 kilograms in the past 6 months.
Um....you can see the changes by just trying on old clothes. I didnt even know I was losing weight until I tried on my 3x shirt and size 46 pants, looked in the mirror, and go, "wait, these clothes werent huge on me before". I wasnt even doing much at first(and it was all me, I didnt go to a gym), just average weight lifts that I was already capable of doing, and push-ups, the progress later showed, and since then, I work out even more, and layed off the snacks, and ate lesser than what I used to in general.
Weightlifting is actually better for fat loss than cardio. You could do both to get the max benefit but everyone will tell you to lift some weights. Cardio is good for weight loss, weightlifting is good for fat loss and muscle gain.
Starting in January I'll have been working out in the gym for a whole year (give or take 3 and a half months with problems paying dues) and it's been great gaining muscle and getting fit. I'm happy for Pat and the rest of the best friends for going through with staying healthy and hitting the gym.
Remeber guys just eating decently at a slight calorie deficit will lose you a bit of weight each week(if you really can't be bothered to excersize), excersize is what aids in the process and makes you feel better in the long run.
I know what they mean with how working out doesn't have visible results because it's so gradual. It would be easier with hard numbers, we need character stat sheets for real life.
I'm a big dude, maybe a little bit overweight, but my weight remains consistent most days, but the hardest thing for me when going to the gym is just being motivated to go, since I lack motivation for a lot of things. Even if I miss one day it fucks my entire routine and takes me ages to try and get back into the swing of it. I enjoy it when I'm there because the days I go it's usually quiet and there's few people, but it's just getting there that's a problem for me.
Muscle dysmorphia (also called "Bigorexia"; the perception that you're too skinny despite being muscular) is super real. I've received various compliments over the years despite seeing myself as rather average. People referring to Woolie as "ripped" in chat just confused me, but he probably still has a bit of fatceps going on as well. To anyone who's on the fence about getting in shape, what Pat say is 100% true. Even when you're in good shape the first few sessions after being absent feels like shit. Once it's routine your whole body starts itching if you don't go.
"worse" is going to be relative to what you are trying to accomplish. I went from drinking regular soda to drinking diet and lost a lot of weight. It may have shortened my life span some or something, but I looked better and that's what mattered lol. That said, it is still basically poison. I eventually switched to only drinking unsweetened tea and water and feel a bit better for it.
David Villarrius yeah, pick up a box of Tazo tea, and they have a lot of flavors, some honey and get yourself nice, patience requiring but fulfilling tea.
I actually want to start working out, but I cannot afford a personal trainer, and I have a messed up knee that I'm afraid will shatter if I go too hard.
Heyo, if you have body aches, do research! In my experience, it all comes down to trigger points that need to be massaged + warm up stretches/ cool down stretches. I bought a book from a message therapist that showed me how to maintain this machine!! We can all help ourselves with thinning the wallet!!
The worst part was when i was doing gym, i have a shitty family, and they would just fucking nag and make me feel like shit for wasting money and stuff. I want to start at it again, now that i have a girlfriend and stuff, just cause i know that whatever shit they say i'll still have at least her support for it. But it was pretty fun honestly, i like the machines and stuff, and, due to the distance i had to walk it was also a pretty great exercise, i really kinda miss it.
+Mark Rogian That really sucks dude, it's the worst thing when your family acts like your exercise routine is a hindrance to them and they aren't in any way supportive. I'd suggest learning some bodyweight exercises maybe investing in some kettlebell's, Pull Up Bar and Free Weights (as machines can neglect the core and stabilising strength that are activated with Free Weights) , and that way you can develop a home routine that you can do at any time that you're free.
Maybe ? i dunno if its affordable aimed at my paywall, im already saving up to visit my so next year, so i guess i'll just look for exercises that dont need machines and build a routine out of that, it's just kinda hard doing at home cause theres way more temptations like doing art and stuff, and im easily distracted. But thanks man!
+Mark Rogian Yeah it's definitely tough to enforce a at home routine but what I do is in a dedicated book/notepad write out 8-10 exercises and 4 sets of each rep range and give myself 1-2 hours to finish the set, and that way you can keep track of your progress and you know that your dedicated exercise time doesn't need to include travelling to a location. Also with buget being an issue, I'd suggest over time building up a collection of equipment from Amazon (you'd be amazed at how cheap you can get cast iron dumbells and kettlebell's online as opposed to in a retailers), thats what I did, I bought some dumbells and a reasonably med/heavy kettlebell to start with and I just slowly aquired more equipment over the course of a few months. It's definitely tough to enforce an at home routine, as there's so many distractions and other priorities visibly infront of you, but after a few weeks it will just become part of your weekly routine to have a scheduled workout routine 3 times a week. Good luck dude, and I hope you figure out a routine that works for you, and don't let your family guilt trip you into abandoning your exercise goals.
Mark Rogian A gym is a good investment if you go regularly but a lot of people don't even need to. If you go to a website like darabee and see all the free bodyweight routines you can set aside 30 mins to an hour pumping it out while listen to music/podcast. It's good you want to get fit and money should not be an issue with bodyweight routines just time.
Fitness doesn't have to cost a fortune. I have two sets of dumbbells. A pair of 15 pounders and a pair of 25's. Think I payed like $20 per pair and they were all I needed. Friends and family would tell me all the time what a difference my workout made after about a year of it.
Fuck. I've been wanting to start working out when I move. And hearing the Zaibatsu start to improve themselves is actually motivating me to try. But I have to say, I'm thankful for them being honest. That this is probably gonna be super shitty and painful but it'll be worth it.
So I never had a problem with the first few weeks but when you're months in and you drop off a few times it's easy to just stop for a while and forget. My advice would be it's not whether or not you fall but how fast you get up
BaLaKay yeah exactly, it's not a question of if you will fall, only when. The real question is if you even get up at all and if so? How fast and are you still ready to keep going afterwards?
I actually knew weebs at my school who sincerely tried to advocate that training regimen. Even if it worked they just sat in the quad playing skullgirls and persona all day.
It's honestly not a bad regime, though obviously pretty intense for a beginner. Might wanna skip the 5k run though, or at least maybe only do it once a week. Running emaciates you. Mix it up occasionally to hit a couple other areas of the body and you'd be pretty jacked by the end of a year of it lol.
Can you upload the bit about Rising Thunder from this episode? I think it starts around 1:27:00 ish in the middle of them talking about Frosty vs Snowman
If you swim, it's a great workout because you're always moving. I tried to consistently swim for like a month, and I love swimming just don't have the monetary needed for it, and it's difficult to commit like Pat said, but it is so worth it for the restful sleep.
Nightweaver1 just lower your intake, try only having like one during lunch. Or if you can't do that try to just lower the number gradually like if you were drinking 5 a day, try lowering it to 4 and then eventually lower that again, even if you don't lower it any further than that, it would probably do you a few favors.
Actually I have now stopped drinking soda entirely. Doctor's orders. Also, I've been going to the gym now for a month and I'm down 6 pounds. I've also probably put on a pound or two of muscle.
Sad Truth: I've been doing exercises 3-6 times a week at my apartment gym, but I always push it to an extra 10lbs when I think it's too easy. It happened a few times, but ever sense I got my new job, which has me leave at 8 at the latest and get home at 7 at the earliest, the gym's hours is 9-6. So I'm back to doing 400 crunches at once as there is no space in my home to do anything else without destroying my own property or annoying my asshole neighbors. P.S. Don't expect to see a difference in 10lbs. You likely way 300lbs, you are short and filled with fat. Just how much off your entire body do you expect to see? You will not just see 10lbs straight from your belly. It's going to be a bit all around.
Heyo Look up different calisthenic workouts. I’ve basically built my own body weight routine, + use of resistance bands. You can 100% work strength without heavy equipment, and do more than only crunches (which aren’t even as effective for your abs (terrible for your spine, too)
I started boxing around a year ago and JEEZ. People weren't lying when they said that the first week is always the worst. (Side note: I started because I started watching Hajime No Ippo)
In highschool I would go from 230lbs (football season) and 171-189lbs (wrestling season) and would see NOTHING. It wasn't until years later that I started going through old team pictures and literally didn't recognize myself in wrestling pictures. Even my high school pictures look like a fucking Frankenstein experiment in retrospect.
Does anyone here know how hard do we have to cut back on the sugar? I mean, it's not like I'm gonna glance at a banana and be like "You are sweet. So I mustn't eat you".
Depends. I regularly eat ice cream, candy and pastries, but I'm not overweight because I also work out 4 times a week. If you're downing an entire bottle of soda a day then yeah, you should probably cut down.
Gabriel Canel avoid artificial sugars and sweeteners or at least cut back one or two, coffee nowadays isn't as horrible for your body so try to catch just one a day. Fruits are natural sugars so have those, anything with natural sugar is fine but have it in moderation. Much like how you don't eat an entire box of Oreos with your former laziness, you don't want to be eating an entire box of Trader Joe's brand cookies. If you don't have the means to go to a gym or buy equipment, try Dynamic Tension and jogging.
Oh man I know exactly what Woolie is talking about with that crawling with no knees shit. My old football coach made us do that shit in the sand pit, I ACTUALLY felt like dying but man was my body good. Gotta get back into that...
Man. I guess this goes to show that my parents have NO confidence in me while I can tell I've lost weight and wearing my fucking Wal-Mart vest makes me feel like fucking Cody.
I recently put my sports stuff on hold, because I'm unable to train indoors; I have to go outside and it's way too cold where I live. However, I am no longer an unemployed sack of shit and my way out of the house is actually 20 minutes on foot. That combined with not overeating on the Christmas-shit actually keeps me at my weight. However, as soon as the snow and the blizzards and the wolves are gone, I will train the fucking shit out of my life again. GET RIPPED EVERYONE
Covid and channel ending probably, don’t think either of them workout at all anymore, shame since pat was actually looking noticeably better back then when he was doin it
I know Woolie kept on with the boxing for a bit but it seems it tailed off. I had hoped they would continue forward and make regular check ins with their fitness along with their weeks. They really had an opportunity to reach alot of people via the podcast, but hey if this episode alone got a few people to put in the work it wasn’t for nothing. It was definitely a memorable segment that I randomly decided to seek it out today.
Hopeless situation Warrior then you need to probably work out a bit more unless you actually do use treadmills and workout and you're just stating an opinion, in which case completely disregard my words.

In my experience, it all comes down to trigger points that need to be massaged + warm up stretches/ cool down stretches.
I bought a book from a message therapist that showed me how to maintain this machine!! We can all help ourselves with thinning the wallet!!
Has Pat kept up with the gym? I haven't heard any stories lately
Bosco Pappas no, if you look at him he’s actually really let himself go
The worst part was when i was doing gym, i have a shitty family, and they would just fucking nag and make me feel like shit for wasting money and stuff.

That really sucks dude, it's the worst thing when your family acts like your exercise routine is a hindrance to them and they aren't in any way supportive.
+Mark Rogian
Yeah it's definitely tough to enforce a at home routine but what I do is in a dedicated book/notepad write out 8-10 exercises and 4 sets of each rep range and give myself 1-2 hours to finish the set, and that way you can keep track of your progress and you know that your dedicated exercise time doesn't need to include travelling to a location.
Mega buff friends play
So I never had a problem with the first few weeks but when you're months in and you drop off a few times it's easy to just stop for a while and forget. My advice would be it's not whether or not you fall but how fast you get up
BaLaKay yeah exactly, it's not a question of if you will fall, only when. The real question is if you even get up at all and if so? How fast and are you still ready to keep going afterwards?
who needs a ligit trainer just follow the saitama training regimen
or just go subscribe to jaxblade
I actually knew weebs at my school who sincerely tried to advocate that training regimen. Even if it worked they just sat in the quad playing skullgirls and persona all day.
It's honestly not a bad regime, though obviously pretty intense for a beginner. Might wanna skip the 5k run though, or at least maybe only do it once a week. Running emaciates you. Mix it up occasionally to hit a couple other areas of the body and you'd be pretty jacked by the end of a year of it lol.
For the love of God put a pulling exercise into it if you don't want to become imbalanced.
Can you upload the bit about Rising Thunder from this episode? I think it starts around 1:27:00 ish in the middle of them talking about Frosty vs Snowman
Can't wait for 6-pack-pat
If you swim, it's a great workout because you're always moving. I tried to consistently swim for like a month, and I love swimming just don't have the monetary needed for it, and it's difficult to commit like Pat said, but it is so worth it for the restful sleep.
I'm going to Planet Fitness for the first time tomorrow. I refuse to be more unfit than Pat.
But I will not stop drinking full-sugar sodas. I won't.
It did not last.
Avoiding eating sugar is actually the worst. I've been trying to eat healthy for a while but that kills me man.
Sad Truth:
I've been doing exercises 3-6 times a week at my apartment gym, but I always push it to an extra 10lbs when I think it's too easy.
Weigh*
Heyo
Look up different calisthenic workouts. I’ve basically built my own body weight routine, + use of resistance bands.
You can 100% work strength without heavy equipment, and do more than only crunches (which aren’t even as effective for your abs (terrible for your spine, too)
Concentrate on strenght gains, that means your body is getting better.
You should do one of these with the best slaps montage they watched and talked about
"I also do streaming... video games" Did anyone else read that part as Pat's doctor initially thinking that he was talking about pee fetish stuff?
Pats gonna fucking propose to paige soon
Whats a G-Y-M?!
0.24 Hour Fitness
Well, I guess I'm officially a bigger piece of shit than Pat now. Oh well, it was nice while it lasted.
I started boxing around a year ago and JEEZ. People weren't lying when they said that the first week is always the worst. (Side note: I started because I started watching Hajime No Ippo)
Fucking hell Pat well done
Only problem now is that Pat will end up looking like Heichachi
Im not giving up sugar. But I found a lump on my ear so fuck
Here’s hoping pat gets back into it for his wedding
Fuck. even pat is hitting the gym harder than me.
I've gotta see THIS!
Gabriel Canel I suppose avoid any artificial sugars or sweeteners.
Listening to this while downing cheetos and root beer makes me feel weak willed as all get out.
I train my pat, he grows stronger.
...And considering it's Canada the access to healthy meat is much greater than many countries (deer; wild-boar).Liam knows...
GET RIPPED EVERYONE
hurty sand won this battle
You know what I genuinely wonder what happened to all this
Covid and channel ending probably, don’t think either of them workout at all anymore, shame since pat was actually looking noticeably better back then when he was doin it
I know Woolie kept on with the boxing for a bit but it seems it tailed off. I had hoped they would continue forward and make regular check ins with their fitness along with their weeks. They really had an opportunity to reach alot of people via the podcast, but hey if this episode alone got a few people to put in the work it wasn’t for nothing.
It was definitely a memorable segment that I randomly decided to seek it out today.
i dont really get how ellipticals are better than treadmills
ellipticals just hurt my legs
Hopeless situation Warrior then you need to probably work out a bit more unless you actually do use treadmills and workout and you're just stating an opinion, in which case completely disregard my words.
since its been a month now the treadmill kinda hurts my back
Natural Sugar is fine but bleached? Yeah thats cancer.
Shit I'd better get back to Dynamic Tension and Weights!
Bear crawl is mean
goddammit pat see the pain and misery you're causing?
A long time ago my motivator to start working out was looking in the mirror and saying fuck this noise. Now being in good shape my motavator is some good ol spite that I'm not gonna be even close to these chuclkefucks.
Keep in mind their morning after isn't WORK work, it's couch sitting and talking work. JUST sayin. That morning after is literally the worst part. More so then the actual work out.
