I made these yesterday for the wife. She loves them. I was trying to get them done before the cold season. I know that I will have to make a couple more because she likes them so much. I'm new at sewing and these are fairly straight forward and easy. I even came away with some helpful hints. The wife says thanks.
Just cut up the pattern ready to make. Have also cut out a pattern for my toddler niece. You said about re sizing for child sizes. I just shrunk the pattern when I sent to print. I reduced to 60 (from 113 original) looks to be right for child size 5
Thank you Lisa! It does make it so much easier when someone shows you how to do it while explaining it - I think I am going to make a pair! I've been wearing these cozy cotton socks around the house lately (normally I wear moccasins but I haven't found those warm enough) and a pair of boots made of whatever I LIKE - yay! What a brilliant idea and how nice of Tilly and you :)
Wow, those are too cute! I love them exactly the way you made them, fabric selections and all! Thank you so much for sharing! You’re so correct, they would make very cute gifts!
Thanks, Myra! Those are for my niece, and the girls keep stealing them from my sewing table - - so I guess I have two more pairs to make before Christmas!
I DID IT!! I sewed along with you and made a pair of these adorable boots! I love them. They are comfy and warm. Thank you so much for letting us know about the pattern. I can see more of these in my future...
Hi, I love your videos you have such a natural and relaxing way. I’ve had this pattern for a while now on a long list of things to do! But watching your video has made me decide, I’m going to buy some fabric today and get a pair made, I didn’t think they would be so fun to make, so thank you. Enjoy the holidays x
I was about to sew a different pair... Had the pattern pieces all cut out and everything... Then saw this video and immediately downloaded and printed!! Thanks for such an awesome video!
Thank you so much for sharing this tutorial with us!! I am a newbie and a visual learner, I would never have been able to follow this pattern and complete it without your instructions!
awww! i do think those boots are cute, but what actually made me download the pattern is your enthusiasm! 🤣 you have such a sympathetic way of presenting this tutorial- it makes me wanna jump right in 😊, thank you! :)
So I just made myself a pair. I wish I had realized the pattern is bigger than stated. Used polar fleece both layers and I used denim from value village for the outer sole. Thanks for the sewalong...I'm more a visual learner. Happy New Year!
Hunted for a slipper boot pattern. Found the Tilly and the Buttons pattern. Reading comments and found the link to this tutorial! Thank you! I'll be making many of these for my daughters friends for Christmas. 💖💖💖
Greetings from Boston What a great little project. I did print out the pattern and now that you showed us how easy it goes together I will try to make a few for extra gifts. Thank you for this very helpful video. Looking forward to seeing your makes in 2018.
Awesome... was thinking to make a pair of fleece socks or maybe even down like puffer jacket material style. After watching, I am wondering about using type 1 silicone (vinegar smelling) on the bottom and maybe up the sides covering the seams not as much for grip... more for durability and instead of being a sock... more like a slipper. I guess with leather or tougher material... would turn into a boot. Thanks for sharing, neat pattern!
Well its 2021, and I came across your tutorial... My gift is for someone with SZ 12!!! So I am elongating the sole about an 1 1/2 inches. Also using Fleece and Sherpa for the lining. Should be warm and cozy for Colorado winter!!
Thank you for mentioning they run a little on the big size. I was going to make a large so I could wear thick socks with them. But when I laid out my pattern it wasn't fitting the recommended ⅜ yard. I too am a lefty and confuse people sometimes if I use my left hand. Growing up in a right dominate world had trained me to mostly use my right though.
Hi Lisa, Merry Christmas! 🎅🎁🤶 I just finished making a set of slipper boots for my daughters friend using Sherpa for the lining. They are super cute, that being said I will never use Sherpa for the lining ever again! It's a pain to sew with and made the slipper to bulky. I hope my daughters friend likes them. I have three more to make and thank goodness no more Sherpa available...yeah!
@@Lisamakes LOL! 😆 Well that was short lived. I guess I'll be making more with Sherpa! The orders keep coming in! So many of my friends are wishing Sherpa boot slippers for Christmas. Now I'm off to the fabric store to get more Sherpa in several colors.
Thanks so much for the tutorial, I shall definately give these a go. I wasn't keen on the materials used on the TATB website but love the fabrics you have used. Merry Christmas 😘😘🎉🎉
Hi. These look great, will definitely give them a go when it's winter (I'm in NZ). Just want to add that I am really loving your channel! It's great to see a vlogger who a) is in a similar age cohort to me! b) has children and sews for them as well and c) has come to sewing more recently and via You Tube (I have taken up sewing in the past 18months after previously quilting for a couple of years - and have learned everything I know from You Tube tutorials....) and d) has an appreciation of mindfulness, thrifting and trying to do things within a family budget....Hope you and your family have a lovely Xmas, here in New Zealand we are having a summer heatwave so it is a very different view outside my window.....(our hot Christmas' are a bit surreal, I'm still eating mince pies and Christmas cake under a humid hot Auckland sky.!)
You inspired me! I had tons of pieces of fleece leftover and flannel for linings. I have made one pair and now the assembly line is ready to go! 1 down and 3 (or 4 if I make some for me) to go!!
I loved your video...I was searching for something similar & found you....OMG...I'm thrilled. I want to make some for family members...I have fleece that I've had for a couple of years....just wondering....does the lining come out when you pull your foot out? That's my only concern.....thanks so much ...you are a wonderful instructor!!!
Thank you !!!!!!! I have only just seen this and I have the pattern already. What do you think about putting fluffy lining in and how wide are they? I have. A high instep and so sometimes boots are hard to get on . I love these boots.. and your instructions are exceptional.
Brilliant video, I'm going to start this has my next project. What wadding did you use? I'm confused at what to buy for these slippers? I've got fleece fabric on order to make mine. Thank you
Hi, I also just watched this tutorial and I’m loving this idea for Christmas gifts. I don’t know where you live but what she is referring to as wadding we call quilt batting where I live. I think she was using a cotton or bamboo batting. If you make quilts this would be a great way to use scraps. I also noticed she only used the batting on the soles of the slippers. Hope that helps you and happy sewing 🧵
Lisa, I have tons of old jeans. Do you think this pattern would work with denim and flannel lining, or do both need to be stretchy? Im thinking denim ones would be great for men. I also think I will use foam for inside the sole.
I don’t see why not! The flannel isn’t stretchy at all, so I don’t think that a necessity. I think the sweatshirt material helps them “stand up” and keep their shape; so slightly stiffer jeans might be better. Happy making!
It would probably work, but I would cut the pattern on the bias, then you'd have some stretch and give and maybe cut the pattern a bit bigger. Denim would be awesome with flannel or fleece lining.
I’m on a iPad and I can’t see links to free pdf pattern any suggestions to find them or can you put a link somewhere on your page? I love how you did this! My grandaughter would love these! Thank you!
I made these and they really are very cute. I was really disappointed when the pair I made for myself as well as the pair I made for a gift ended up being useless as both of us walked right out of them. I even put the non skid on the bottoms and wore socks to try and keep them on my feet! Bummer, cuz I really was hoping to make a bunch of these for Christmas

I feel it would be easier to understand what your doing if you weren’t holding the fabric up.laying it on a table would make it easier to see what you’re doing.
I also made these to match a Toaster sweater I made out of fleece and I LOVE mine! I added the anti-grip stuff you put on the bottom of rugs so they won't slip on the bottom of mine also. instagram.com/p/BdLsaCzjkoW/?taken-by=imtempel

What size did you choose for yourself and the gift? How many sizes do you think you need to go down? Thanks
hi I was thinking of testing and sewing a pair of socks ..... now wondering if I need to add any seam allowance. Sincerely Louise
I would! I think most sewists prefer having a seam allowance built in.
Hi Lisa did you have to flip the sole and toe pattern so you have a left and a right and is it best to cut with right sides together or individual
I just cut them without flipping them, but maybe double check their blog for the instructions- it was a long time ago now. 😂
And Sew On ok thank you
I did but it doesn’t state on the pattern instructions

Very cute!
Do you still clip the curves? What about using that stiff craft foam, denim, or canvas?
In that case I would probably clip the curves.
Have you ever used vinyl or faux leather for the bottom?
No, I haven’t, but that a great idea.

UK shoe sizes aren't the same as US ones. That could be a reason why they came out big on you.
