👍Very interesting. Thanks. My question: If this evolving field, that's settling down, has lots of energy, is this field and it's energy related to or similar to Zero Point energy, or are they totally different concepts? I'm interested in using Zero Point energy, or something similar, in the FTL spacecraft design that I'm working on in my spare time😀🚀.
Crazy if we really think about the stuff that is out there in space, quasars, black holes, galaxies etc, we will never be able to fully explore everything.
matter that doesn't interact with light. fyi, such a thing is only hypothesized to exist because there is more matter in the universe than we can see, roughly speaking.
@@deutschluz Less roughly speaking, we observe that the outer arms of galaxies spin slower than we'd expect them to spin given the mass we can see there. Conclusion, there's mass that we *can't see* there. And when I say we can't see it, I mean that we seemingly can't measure it in any way, and the only way it interacts with the rest of the universe is through gravity.
Can someone dumb down what they are saying in this lol I'm a simple person, I'm confused as to if a particle creates dark Matter, how does that particle get created? What created the thing that created the particle? It's a never ending loop
I'm just a dummy too. Dark matter as I understand what it may be, because we dont know what it is just that it's there, is an idea that arises when looking at the motion of stars around the black holes in galaxies. When we started looking at other galaxies, we noticed our physics were not matching the movements we saw. The stars are zooming around the black holes at the centers of galaxies much faster than they should be. So to "balance the equation" and make our physics work, dark matter was invented as an idea as to the cause of these imbalances. So, as with regular matter, some people surmise the dark matter will be made up of particles, too. We are still searching for proof of any of this. But, it all goes back to the fundamental problems between newtonian and einstein's laws/theories and what we observe. The thing you bring up about creation and creator is more of a philosophical question that we will most likely never answer.
@@Sick1982 yeah you're right. The whole particle/wave thing is still impossible for me to wrap my mind around. They (paricles)are either both (particles and waves), maybe neither (vibrations of strings), what the heck is going on at the quantum level?
It’s a crazy thought if humans created the universe and Where on a infinite loop with no memory of our own creation. Look at how many things we figured out and can manipulate.
Regarding the pens. The left is a black sharpie and the others are different color pens. Signs of a good note taker or a scientist. Or subtley expressing his advocacy of gay pride. It is gay pride month and he has the colors of the rainbow there...he also talks about gay symmetry :)
my love for science and space is growing again because of your podcast. Thank you Lex.
Same!
The pens in the pocket give so much more credence than he already has.
From the birthplace of IBM and IBMers... Endicott, NY , I totally agree!
this guy really looks like a scientist
He has more pens than most scientists or mathematicians even
Just imagine him in a lab jacket. So lagit
I want to shave his head so bad.
cp is a strong problem indeed. Thanks for bringing attention to this subject.
cp has been the biggest problem in my life personally.....
His pen game is strong !!

All at one time he’s no poser!!! Lol
With five pocket pens and that Haircut I'm taking this guy VERY seriously.
Sorry to burst your bubble. But he sports six pens.
I have no idea what any of this was about, but I love it
Lex! I have one Problem with you! Why didn’t you start this podcast sooner! Love your work! Thank you friend I’ll never meet!
The amount of pens in his shirt makes it for me!
We very well may live in one the greatest times and pivotal advancement in human history with science, technology & medicine. Even Psychedelics too.
...well we did.
From a historical perspective, we're about due for a catastrophic event.
@@TheUnholyPosole A man-made one prolly
My goodness. All the amazing things I’ll never know, second only to all the amazing things I don’t know I’ll never know.
This is fascinating. Thanks for this.
Start now, to be great later
Lex it's about time you bring on James Gates again, loved the first one.
I am time, and have come to consume all scientists failing to find the First Dimension that leads only to me. #Krishna 🕉
Yeah, whatever...
?
this man is truly an alchemist

This guy really nails the main scientist guy that warns of an impeding danger in a sci-fi movie.
stationary bling
His stationery is relatively stationary, I suppose.

we must. we will.
Can some one please explain what is dark matter.

Invisible matter whose effect on the universe is visible, e.g. bending of light, gravitational effects.
It’s turtles all the way down
Lex, did you find out if wilczek has a closed equation predicting axions?
Just curious. Thanks
He's no Penrose, but his pocket is a Penrow. Thank you, goodnight. I'll be here all week, don't forget to try the buffet and tip your waitress.

Particles don't exist.. it are just vibrating waves and when you look at it from the right distance, it looks like a particle ;)

Barney Calhoun and Doctor Kleiner
then who was gordon
OK, thats dark matter solved, next?
Frank Wilczek is the voice I want to hear tell me the world is about to end and how.
one of my neighbors had a strong CP problem

I admire Frank’s mind, but his love of pens is....a bit much
Great man
This was a bad idea to watch this baked 😳🤯
Have you ever watched John carpenter's prince of darkness? That film represents this..
So what about the Anti-Christ?
it doesn't fit into the standard model of particle physics unfortunatley
Jeff Bezos?
I want a car that’s powered by brake pads and fills the tank with gas
hi
Its Half Life 1 scientist!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Is this the scientist from half-life?
We are so lucky that there doesn't live a Big Bad Bull around our village. 😂
This guy is like the OG mad scientist 😐
Man this podcasting is really somthin’
wwwwaah whaaaen they talk about.. "the closest we've ever been". im ngl, it gets me excited too
the truth is, if we all a sudden go backwards as particles, do you 100% think that anything changes ?.. ill leave it with that as a start
Maybe the particle is a undiscovered coin you can promote in a future episode....
So you're saying that dark matter is actually just fluctuations in the quantum field ?
dudeeeeee free education
I can tell you where super symmetry is definitely NOT present....
That hairline.
this dude looks just like jeff Durhams puppet 😂😂😂😂 tell me im lying !?
Maybe the P from CPT can be found in all the pens he owns. Hoarder!
I wish Lex would have on more credible guests.
Cmon Lex this stuff is frikkin nonsense you're too smart not to be an electric universe proponent
