"I can't stand not being able to start an iv" I couldn't agree more.
This is my white whale. I have thought several times about buying out of pocket one of those blue phantom practice blocks but those suckers are now $700. Very good video.
Awesome video-great tips.
I'm still learning and for some reason i tend to either lose the tip of the needle/difficulty seeing it on the screen and I also at times think im going in where the middle marker is but once i find the tip im either way to the left/right of the vein/marker. Any tips?? Thank you for the video!
I’m in the same boat....
The issue is likely angle of your probe. Your needle tip is most visible when you are at a perpendicular angle to the needle itself, not the vessel.
Once you insert, slide your probe back close to your insertion site and adjust your angle to be roughly perpendicular. Once you visualize the white dot of the needle, maintain the angle of your probe and advance it up the patients arm until you lose vision of the white dot. You’ve reached your needle tip.
If during the insertion you somehow lost the tip again, move the probate back to the insertion site and repeat the steps.
