The information you provided on drone laws in Thailand is very insightful. This is something most people might not know about. Your video is extremely helpful and informative.
Registering your drone in Thailand makes sense. With so many tourists around anyone can complain and you have to deal with this. Nice video man, so many know nothing about this.
Nice video. Thailand 🇹🇭 drone laws are crazy man. Good idea to get your drone registered before flying drones in Thailand. Quick ans easy method is the way to go.
How do I go about getting a serial number for a SG108 drone? Can I just make up a serial number with bare code and print it out? Same question with the controller.... Thanks
Ugh this is such a pain and I'll only be going to Thailand for 8 days lol. Has anyone encountered an issue when registering the drone serial number with NBTC and their system says it cannot find/recognize it? Tried both of my Avata 2 and Mini 3 pro and same issue. Seen others have similar issues on DJI forum but no solution
I remember back in the days when flying drones was not problem in Thailand as they had no concrete rules in place for flying drones. I had it multiple times over the years when police would come over to me whilst I was flying and they were so interested in it and wanted to see how cool the video looked haha. The good old days lol.
Hey! Thx for the information! I just arrived to Phuket and checked the laws 😮 Do you think I will have a problems when I will fly out at customs? I have 14 days of vacation, dji avata 2 and neo, should I register drones anyway, even I am not going to fly?
Great video! So if I’m not planning to go to Thailand until January 2025, is the easiest way to apply for the insurance and let them do the registration? As I’m only there for 2 weeks and don’t want to wait until I land for the immigration stamp! How long prior to flying would you recommend I do this? And should I just use the link to the insurance you included?
I would do it sometime between 2-3 weeks out. I went with Thai Pattana insurance, but there's a few to choose from thaipat.co.th/Products/Drone.aspx Just use the QR code to add them to the line app and let them know you want drone insurance and they'll go through it with you. They're much cheaper and will refund the unused days of the insurance when you cancel.
If you don't have a bind and fly where you get a serial number from the manufacturer. That would make you the manufacturer, so the serial number is all on you.
You do this when you arrive at the national park. You can request permission to fly your drone from the staff at the booth where you pay the fee. They will help you with it. Make sure you have your drone registration papers
Hi I’m going to Thailand for 14 days and I am in multiple countries before. I’m not planning on flying my drone in Thailand but was wondering if I would get stopped or anything when coming into the country and out.
Hey mate. Awesome content. I’m Irish, and seemingly don’t need a visa for Thailand. I’m also only going to be in Thailand for about 15 days. I’m popping around Laos, Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos. Will I still have to go through all this? Also, are there any insurances incase any official takes my drone? 🙏🏽
Everyone needs a visa to enter Thailand 🇹🇭 whether it's a visa on arrival, which is stamped by immigration when you arrive, or a pre-approved. Without registering, the penalties are quite harsh. Is it worth the risk? No insurer will cover you for breaking drone laws.
@@photoholic11 Actually it is still a VISA so it's absolutely TRUE. It's called a VOA which stands for VISA on Arrival. It's still a Visa. Try to enter Thailand without one. Just because it's free it does not mean it's not a Visa.
@@paradise-adventures When i visited 14 months ago, yes a visa was needed beforehand or on arrival. However, I was just at the Thai embassy last week and clarified what is needed for my 52 day trip. The ETA process was meant to be implemented on Dec 1, but is now delayed. Im speaking specifically about US citizens, however other countries are included. For me no visa is needed for trips of 60 days or less for residents of certain countries and also has a return to home (or onward passage) ticket. Its well documented on the Thai embassy website.
@@photoholic11 So if you choose to enter without a VISA you have to wait for the stamp on your passport that believe it or not references VISA on it (USA is same as Australia). Only than can you register your drone. You cannot get your drone registered until you have imported the drone and have a stamp on your passport with date of arrival and valid too date if you do this. That is why I suggest to get a pre-approved tourist visa. You will have to wait for the drone registered papers. It took me 12 days for approval in the during off peak season in southern Thailand provinces. The cue in Bangkok is currently in the 100's for drone registrations so expect delays getting approval if you are flying into Bangkok.
You need photos of your passport stamps from Thai immigration after you arrive. Or you can talk with the Thai embassy about getting a pre-approved tourist visa before you arrive. The drone registration can take up to two weeks, so depending on how long you plan to be in Thailand, the two weeks can be worth factoring in.
@ i will just be there for four days, is it worth it, I only got a DJI Neo and if its alot of things should be done forst before flying it then better not bring it yeah?
Thailand has so many laws that are seldom enforced. Even the important ones such as running red lights and drink driving are poorly enforced. So it's hard for anyone to know which ones are really worth obeying.
Yes, you are right. It can simply come down to what the police feel like doing on the day. Other example of laws that aren't obeyed are riding a motorbike on the footpath, or in the opposite direction of traffic on the wrong side of the road. There are also foreigners in places consistently getting pulled up for not wearing a helmet and when you often see Thai people doing the same thing. It is what it is and you never know what's going to happen if you are caught out doing these things one day. If you take the risk, you have no one else to blame but yourself.
I agree with this in the comments already. The focus was always on the drone registrations in Thailand. Your penalty is not true. Only prison time is not registering your drones. The rest is just fines.

Great Educational Video
Wow! It’s unbelievable how strict the drone laws are in Thailand. That’s insane. Thank you for sharing this information.
It really is! Right?
Great tips for getting drone registered in Thailand. I didn't know you can have it all done for you.
You can, and it's the best way to go.
Sure sounds like it.

Yep, it's definitely not worth the risk.
WTF, how many tourists even understand Thai drone laws? This is insane. Good you're increasing awareness.
I know, I just had to let people know. Especially the way foreigners in Thailand like to complain about drones these days.
I can't believe Thailand drone laws are so strict. But you are right the law is the law. Don't risk it.
Absolutely 💯 thanks.
No worries man.
It’s scary to think that most people probably have no idea about this. I certainly didn’t. Thanks for sharing
Yeah, when people on their holidays can get annoyed with some young guy flying his drone and call the cops. It has serious consequences.

Just in time for Thailand this Christmas well explained

Good thing I looked at this video! You probably saved me $50.000 USD. Thank you.

Check the box. It most likely has the serial number. Just get a copy of that serial number and stick it to your drone.
CAAT actually states on their paperwork you need to fill in, up to 1 year or 40,000 baht.
Good to know. A lot of people use insurance providers, and they deal directly with CAAT, so they're definitely aware this is happening.

I think there is an email on the website, try contacting them there. They have English speaking staff.

I’ll probably just go with the same insurer as you did 👍🏼
It's a chat app that is commonly used here in Thailand. Similar to whatsapp.
How can you have a serial number if you build your own drone fpv ?
If you don't have a bind and fly where you get a serial number from the manufacturer. That would make you the manufacturer, so the serial number is all on you.

No issue with customs with drones. They're only concerned about flying drones in Thailand.

I'm told Thai jails are character building stuff.

Actually 90 metres is the maximum altitude for Thailand
Yep. That's right.
When was the law passed?
Really not sure but some people have suggested it came in with the current King.
I believe the maximum height is 90m and not 120m.
You are right. The other thing that is more strict than common drone laws is the 5 miles radius from the airports not kilometers.

Step 1, don't fly a drone in Thailand.
Nope, just register your drone in Thailand.
