Optimize your holeshot on the cheap

Today we delve into the topic of transom wedges, why would you need them? Because they can optimize performance holeshot on your hull for a budget friendly price. They can also correct porpoising on some tin rigs which suffer from them (though this is NOT ALWAYS true). Yes their install requires removal of your outboard. However, once in place, they allow for more negative tuck of your outboard.
As for our #basstracker Classic XL's, there is plenty of room to improve on holeshot and overall performance. We have too much positive trim available on our outboards and some of that can easily be remedied with these which can allow for more tuck as stated above. This engine tuck = stronger holeshot.
I highly recommend fully CNC machined transom wedge plates only. These are available from Bob's Machine Shop and from Vance MFG. Pick your poison. I also highly recommend wedge washers, as you want to ensure the nuts sit flush on the outboard. Stay away from cast aluminum as it is fragile and can break (crack) in relatively short order.
