GI Joe A Real American Hero was one of my favorite action figure toy lines growing up. At first GI Joe Classified stumbled out of the blocks, but in 2022 the line really picked up steam with incredible character selection, fantastic sculpting and even an successful Haslab! I often find myself wishing I cared about GI Joe because I see this line and think it’s pretty cool. But I know that’s a long dark path I may never come out of.

G.I. Joe was absolutely the best toy ever. However, I may have lost more of the figures in my grandparents yard than I can remember.
Ha! There is a part of me that that comment makes me kind of insane
"I still don't have a Viper figure." Yeah, me too lol. It just doesn't seem to be in the cards for me to get one at $25.

Classified absolutely deserves this 2022 "Line of the Year" award - just equally as much as Hasbro deserves a "get your head out of your @55" award for how they have mishandled it. Great video, great backstory. I'll be sharing this vid with a bunch of other friends and collectors!
Thanks for the share - since I don’t talk about Joes as much, it will really help this videos reach. I felt like the backstory of how the line was bumbled at the beginning was vital to why I am so excited for it now!
Exactly “at the beginning” and a toxic selection of man baby’s won’t let it go and keep nit picking and trying to drum up nonsense drama (for views and attention) viper island sucks!!!
This line pulled me back into something I never thought I'd do. I haven't bought a G.I. Joe since I was a kid before this series.
The nostalgia coupled with great sculpts and figures caught me completely off-guard. Hit the ground running and haven't looked back.

I told myself I wouldn't get into this line of toys, but im glad I did. I was a huge gi a joe fan as a kid and this line brings back nostalgia for me. The price point is not bad, the attention to details on these figures are awesome and I love how you get much accessories for these figures. Keep up the great work hasbro. 🔥🔥🔥💪💪💪

Ya that Cobra BAT is one of the best army builders ever. I love the diffrent heads and the battle damaged chest peice. This series has constantly surprised me with how good every aspect of it can be. That Xamot figure was really cool. Very happy I got into this series when I did. Happy New Year mate!

Got my classic storm shadow last week and i am in love with it the curved threaded toes of his ninja tabi make for great psuedo toe bend for sick posing

Born in 80, I didnt start collecting Joes until 84. The first 12 along with the Skystriker and Whale were almost mythological to me as a kid.
I just got a whale for the first time a year ago - total grail!
I think sticking close to retro for most characters was the right choice but a few figures could of used some modernization to spice them up a bit. Not wave 1 style mind you, but stuff like Baroness, Zartan, and AC Snake Eyes, where they added extra details that enhance the original design without taking anything away from it.

I’m glad Classified finally started heading in the right direction with the line. I saw all that sci-fi redesign and said “not for me”. But when I saw Spirit I finally bit the bullet and tried one of the figures out with Lady Jaye. Now I’m hooked again, after almost 40 years!!
Join the club! I do think Spirit was a huge turning point - that and the retro cards which righted previous wrongs!
There's a lot of old school fans out there who think Classified is pure garbage and I just don't it. The lack of vehicles is fair point but the figures themselves have never looked better!
@@brandonr8269 haters gonna hate. There are some for whom no new product will be able to compete with their nostalgic memory of what was. The line isn’t perfect -no line is - but it is getting better and better and I’m excited for what come next

I just started getting figures this year and have managed to acquire stalker, cobra trooper officer, crimson guard and card back duke and scarlet for my kids. Got great deals on all but I really want a cobra commander and flint but people are charging an arm and a leg for them. They definitely deserve toy line of the year or maybe even the decade. Yooo Joe!
Just wait. The Cobra Commander is about to come out on a retro cardback and I bet Flint catches a rerelease at some point as well!
My Favorite 6 inch line for sure it’s become my number one overall.
The more I messed with and photographed these figures, the more impressed I became!

Glad I jumped to the classified line. As a kid I only had Snake Eyes and Timber, Alpine, Mainframe, Leatherneck, Fast Draw, a Bivouac and a Silver Mirage.
Can’t wait to see what the next couple of years hold!
I gotta say, even though I’m not very invested in GI Joe, i thought this line was vastly improved upon this year. It seems like the team genuinely cares about the line and proved their listening to what fans want and what needs to be improved.

I've been a Marvel Legends collector since 09 and my love and collection is huge. But after awhile I got tired of the repaints and same figures coming out over and over. I started looking into Joe's and man I haven't turned back since.this has been my favorite line to collect every since. I can't see any other Hasbro line knocking them off anytime soon. YO JOE!
I love my Marvel Legends - but GI Joe Classified has it going on and keeps getting better!
I've heard critiques that the Joe Classifieds look like Marvel repaints. I don't have any Marvel figures (not into superheroes) but what do you think? Are the Joes just reskinned Marvel figures or do the Joes offer something more?

Honestly, I don't collect Joe's. When I did, mine were 12 inches!! Showing my age here! However, for the same reasons I love your Legends videos, your knowledge and presentation are so awesome, I couldn't help but enjoy this video!

This year's GI Joe figures finally got me interested. I didn't like the sci-fi comic booky style of the initial releases, but I just found Outback at Target and could not resist. I do hope they eventually bring back GI Joe's roots by introducing some historic military figures like the 12" line had in the early 2000s as 6" figures. I currently have Falcon, Bazooka, and Recondo on pre-order. Making versions of some of the Joes in their Vietnam-era getups would be cool too, especially with Marauder doing 3.75" Vietnam figures soon

I as you am a big fan of the OG 13 G.I. Joe figures as I believe Snake-Eyes and Stalker were my first two figure purchases at the store. I feel like I was the only one who was excited to see Breaker come out. Although he didn't come with anything but the RAM Cycle I got the Gridiron Studios accessory pack and he is now how he should be. As time went on my favorites became Blowtorch, Firefly, Storm Shadow, and then Dusty. These became the staple of nostalgia for me when they released these (minus Blowtorch). My personal favorite though would have to be Outback, how cool is it that they created the European Release Tiger Force version, it doesn't get any better than that. I am anticipating Grunt and the other original Joes to be released but really want the original Outback, classic Firefly, original Scarlett, and Blowtorch then I will be complete. Even though Serpentor (whom I never really cared for as a kid but liked the figure) is the favorite in the line to most people, I am big on the Tiger Force Outback, he outshined everyone to me. I also would like more ninjas in the line, classic looking ninjas and not the Red/Blue Ninjas they released, they need to look like the Silent Interlude story ninjas, I guess I will have to use my Articulated Icons ninjas until this happens. I am glad to see someone army builds like me, I get 7 of each army build figure to leave one in box and the rest for the army and I agree with you that the Cobra Officer was just awesome all around, I also really like the Alley Viper, those colors pop in my collection and even though they are outrageous they are the first thing my eyes go to on the shelf when I see my collection, now I need BLOWTORCH! Great video.

I have considered doign a remake of Silent Interlude with action figures and I have founf that the Hand ninjas from the Marvel Legends line work really well as Red Ninjas. Outback is indeed a stunner and I'm hoping for Blowtorch as well, but hit me with Clutch, Flash, Zap and Short Fuse and I'm a happy guy!
@@CarbonScoring I was thinking of doing the same thing regarding the Silent Interlude reenactment using the Ninja Commando Loadout from Gridiron Props. Look at what we have already and also what we have coming, we almost have the Original 13 Joes:
1. Hawk - Already announced (would be awesome if they made him a 2-pack. One as General Hawk and one as Missile Commander Lt Hawk in his OG outfit.)
2. Breaker - We have him (the communications loadout from Gridiron Studios makes him just like the original V1 look)
3. Sgt. Stalker - My hopes are they will release one in his original outfit and colors but the one released is very nice and updated
4. Grunt - Already announced and hopefully he has looks like his original V1 look like Breaker.
5. Steeler - Maybe since the HISS Tank was our first Haslab maybe they will release the MOBAT Tank as the next Haslab with him as one of the Tiers.
6. Grand Slam - Would love for him and Flash to look similar in uniform but with his silver accents/ Jump Pack and different head sculpt from Flash of course.
7. Short-Fuse - Maybe his name drop will be soon but if they release these regular G.I. Joe Troopers you can just use one and get the Gridiron Studios Mortar Trooper loadout and make him yourself
8. Clutch - If you think about it Breaker almost looks like the comic version of Clutch, not sure how they will make him or if they will do another Haslab and instead of the MOBAT they will release the VAMP with him included, hopefully similar to Breakers outfit but different accessories and such to differentiate the two.
9. Zap - Since GI Joe is doing different skin tones with their troopers maybe with the trooper pack they release they will have a hispanic trooper and you add the Bazooka Soldier loadout from Gridiron Studios and voila, there's your Zap.
10. Flash - Would love for him and Grand Slam to look similar in uniform but with his red accents/ Laser Rifle w/backpack and different head sculpt from Grand Slam of course.
11. Rock N Roll - Already announced and looks bad ass, no complaints with this figure, they kept him old school looking with a little bit of modernization.
12. Scarlett - That first wave was really bad, we need them to re-release this in her Version 1 outfit plus you could add the Crossbow Assault Pack from Gridiron Studios to really make her look lethal.
13. Snake-Eyes - We have the original version 1 release coming out on card back and this one is without a doubt a home run as far as all his releases we have had even though the Snake-Eyes Alpha Commando pack with Timber was close enough for me.
So that's actually 6 of 13 so we are getting close to nostalgia for us true G.I. Joe fans who have been with the line since the first ones were released. Have a good one

The drone was really cool, the headsculpt/facial expression was really cool, but the chest armor was so huge and bulky that it really limited his motion - that was the problem I had with it
Dusty was my first in 85 and in 23.
My older brother used to collect the old figures, and watch the cartoon.
I never had the connection to the series he did. That being said, I still love seeing figures from this line.
It's the line I am tempted to collect but won't.
Hasbro streams the Sunbow cartoon 24/7 on UA-cam. You should check it out. It's way better than today's cartoons, it actually respected the viewer instead of pandering.
I lives in France and I'm a huge fan of GI Joe since 80's. Thank for your video. I agree with you, GI Joe classified is the best AF Line. But I was happy to have modern version from certain character (Zartan or Major Bludd). Today, I wonder if Slaugther' Triple T could have the same success than HISS tank in Haslab ? It was one of my favorite vehicules.
I think the Triple T would be awesome! I want many more vehicles in the line!!!
Croc master was always my favorite. And the animated transformers has one of the best themes in history.

Another way for dusty helmet: heat up goggles and the helmet (hot water). Place the googles strap below the black helmet horizontal line. Then place helmet on dusty while still warm. The helmet has not moved or popped up even with posing and etc.

Yep, I’ve been army building a serious Cobra Army. Vipers, Troopers, Officers, Infantry Troops, BATS, and Red/Blue Ninjas. Wished Hasbro would release some Joe army builders to balance out the line, that is Cobra heavy. I too grew up playing with Joe’s and this line brings back so many great memories. I can’t wait to see what other figures are on the way. There are so many awesome characters and fantastic designs that could be made. Hopefully this line last the testament of time. The potential is there. As far as the team backing the Classified line, we’ll see?
Yes - apart from more Dreadnoks, we have hit most of the Cobras I want, so hopefully the Joe ranks continue to fill out
Your tripping, the Toy Line of the year is Mythic Legions and it’s not close.
No IP and it sells out each time the price ease of customizing is second to none and makes up for the “limited” articulation.
Mythic Legions is my favorite line of figures. I love that it's something new and is not tied to nostalgia. GI Joe was my favorite toy as a kid. With the Classified line I have been cherry picking the figures that I buy. I've been skipping the figures that do not look like the originals.

There was Marvel secret wars figures in the early 80’s. They all had shields with lenticular swappable images.

Mythic Legions is 1,000,000% the line of the year. Classified was good, great even, better than Legends and SW Black and MOTU and most Super7, but Mezco, Neca, and Mythic Legions are all better lines in 2022.
Mythic legions figures design were quite lame , can't get me hooked on like the g.i.joe classifieds

I don’t own a Mythic Legions figure - doesn’t fit with my collecting pattern, but they do look gorgeous
I am so conflicted on this line. As an 80s kid I loved GIJOE, but the updated designs don't really do it for me, and I still cannot get so many of the figures. I can't even get Cobra Troopers now at a decent price which is so far keeping me from jumping in. Super 7 is coming out with Sunbow styled figures, so if those are good, I'll just end up jumping in there, but I'd love to support this line if I could get some of the figures. Storm Shadow is one of my favorites, and his Walmart classic version is next to impossible to get now. The worst part is the longer I wait the worse my problem gets lol. Going to have to really sort this out as many figures are on sale now which may be a good time to jump in.

I can't stand the ReAction line. They all look like Chinese knock offs of legit ARAH figures. Boring accessories, not for me, especially at their price. At least they come with a file card though. I'll wait until the line fails and ends up in the 99 cent bargain bin and buy them up for the file cards the Classified figures are curiously missing. The file card was such an important part of the experience.
The GI Joe Classified line was originally based on the failed video game Operation Blackout. Once Hasbro moved away from those video game designs the Classified line started to shine IMO.

I think a better title would be most frustrating line of the year. I was actually able to get 2 this year. But Hasbros done such a bad job with this rerelease after a few years it’s not worth the headache.
Other brands like motu, action force and mcfarlane have destroyed it.
Yeah, I tried to address that in the video, but my experience has changed of late with new product showing up on my doorstep constantly. But I also pre-order everything as I just don’t have time to go on toy hunts anymore
Who are the original GI JOE?
If you mean the OG 13, Its Colonel Hawk, Stealer, Stalker, Grandslam, Clutch, Scarlet, Snake Eyes, Flash, Short Fuse, Zap, Grunt, Rock n Roll, and Breaker. Or do you mean the '60's Joe?
I possess nearly all of the Classified figures currently available, and calling them the action figure line of the year is utterly laughable. Half the Classifieds released this year have widespread QC issues, hardly any of them will stand on their own because of their weak hip and ankle joints, and they all have terrible accessories that are immediately replaced with far superior Action Force accessories. Classifieds aren't even the best 1/12 scale military themed action figure line this year. That honor goes firmly to Action Force, and it's not even close. And if any G.I. Joe fanboys want to try to dispute that, Action Force swept an entire category in Nerdzoic's contest, prompting him to move the goalposts and create an entirely new category to appease other lines he shills for. Classified wouldn't even be in the top 20 action figure lines this year in a legitimate competition. They can't even honor their own preorders, FFS, and sold 95% of the Serpentors to Chinese scalpers. Wanna argue about that as well? Get on eBay and look at all those listings' country of origin. Some of y'all need to take off your rose-tinted goggles and recognize that nostalgia for a 40 year-old cartoon is not a metric for quality and/or marketability.

You should of focused on the figures that actually came out in 22 not starting with the 21 line up. I don't know why you totally skipped over Crimson guard or the twins.

@@godofzombi don’t get me wrong - I love the original and I love this one and I think the Native American flair is one of the things I love about it. But I also understand that my perspective as a non indigenous person may not be the same as someone else’s and I try to always be respectful of that
