Evolution of Datsun cars - Models by year of manufacture

Datsun was a Japanese automobile manufacturer belonging to the French-Nipponese conglomerate Renault-Nissan. The term "Datsun" arose from DAT's decision to create a low-cost car, which was baptized as "Datson", adding to the original name of the company the English term "Son" (in English, "son"), to give the car a connotation of being the "son of DAT", in relation to the vehicles it had been producing. After the acquisition of DAT by Nissan in 1933, the name was changed to "Datsun", using the English term "Sun", as a sort of homage to the then Japanese Empire, popularly known as "The Empire of the Rising Sun".
