Labour's deputy leader has said she will step down from her role if she's found guilty of committing a crime.
This comes after Greater Manchester Police have said they're investigating whether electoral law has been broken and whether she provided false information on her living situation.

Be very, very careful what you wish for. There are thousands and thousands of hard working taxpayers who were separated before being divorced and as such were living with a third party where they were probably not registered to vote either. Once you live with someone for more that four days a week then that becomes your primary residence. If you then receive any profit from the house you used to live in then effectively you should have paid capital gains on your profit from the sale of the house you used to live in? Over the past 20 years there may actually be millions of people in this situation and believe me, if they find her guilty they will be coming after you as well, they will be bound to as you no longer fall under the statute of limitations. Be very, very careful what you wish for.

Whe Boris was fined for being given a piece of Birthday Cake and a can of pop before a meeting at work ( which he didn't eat by the way), in fact before that ,Rayner and all the opposition were calling for his resignation. Yet when the boot is on the other foot all the excuses come out.
I still believe that there was a fix put in over partygate. Was it a coincidence that the newly elected Derbyshire police commissioner and her deputy were at that "Works do" and the same police force clearing them of any wrong doing?
I digress, Angela Rayner has often criticised the right to buy policy, yet it would seem that again that doesn't include her.
That she even took advantage of that policy smacks of her criticism.
This she's being picked on because she's working class is a load of bull. Apart from the fact that technically everyone who works for a living can be classed as working class.
The reason that she is being pilloried over this is because of her hypocrisy.
On capital gains tax. HMRC is very flexible about the definition of primary residence. It seems to me as an accountant that this is clearly a non issue.
The irony that the Tories of all people are throwing mud at her for something they are well known to do.

It may be that section 176 of the Representation of the People act 1983 make this all a moot point. If that is the case and GMP are acting under pressure from the Tory establishment and client media they could have serious questions to answer about their independence.
