Can you possibly do a tutorial on the dart cast or how to get more distance with the 110s. I cast and it goes straight up then land 20 feet infront of me even if it’s not windy. Tx man
@@BenjieKimFishing You are most welcome. Being a first responder ...your videos have helped to brighten some of the last few weeks up. Maybe we will meet on the beach someday! Keep your family home and safe!
Thank you Dan! Anytime u wanna hit the sand, let me know! I hope you’ve been well and catching them spotties. Would love to hit them with u again sometime. 🤙
I went out a bought a Cherry/Berry (glow) 110 and put it to use at Bolsa Chica lagoon this Wednesday past. Recall, I'm the guy who has only caught one YFC on an LC. So in the last stages of an incoming ripper tide, fishing on the east side of the lagoon, something absolutely nails my LC. I use an older Fenwich 8'4", 4-12 lb line rating. Then 15lb braid on a Shimano Sedona 2500. LC tied directly to the braid. So this thing has my rod doubled and line going out a little. Now, I don't "think" there are any obstructions out in that canal and kelp does not usually "hammer" your LC. But I could not move the thing. So I'm thinking I either foul hooked a shark, halibut or a halibut grabbed it and adhered back to the bottom - then it came unbuttoned. Hard to believe an LC hook would ever come out of anything, but it did. I am just thrilled to finally get a solid hit. The interesting part was that later in the afternoon, a guy fishing in the lagoon on the incoming tide got one like 20 + lbs. The folks I had been fishing with texted me the photo. Hmmm. I would like to think something like that hit my LC. I'm not bummed out, but re-enthused! Sorry this is so long, but I thought it was a good story. And some fella did get a huge payoff! Thanks Benji for all the advise - no angles, no tangles!
Dang man, what a bummer...would’ve been so cool to see what it was. At least now you can hopefully repeat whatever u were doing to get that bite and get em next time. That’s so crazy, someone caught a 44” outta there this past Sunday 😳😳😳😳😳😳. Absolutely incredible.
Brian Pondo in my opinion, not too light at all. If you’re fishing heavy rock structure, it would be on the lighter side but that setup should handle the vast majority of fish you hook.
Matthew!! Thanks for the comment brotha. Hali fishing can be a grind but hard work and persistence pays off for sure! Did you get my response to your email? Apologies for responding so late but wanted to make sure u got it. Tight lines bro!
Hey there, thanks for watching and commenting. Typically I have 20 to 30 lb braid backing with anywhere from 10 to 15 lb fluoro leader (about 3 to 5 yards). Matching that up with the right rod is gonna be key for casting distance. For casting, I mostly use my Phenix M1 7'8" MH and it loads and casts the LC pretty good. For spinning, I use the Phenix Trifecta Lite 9' ML and it has become my favorite for throwing the LC due to its sensitivity and ability load and cast. Rod length is gonna influence distance too so consider a 9' rod to maximize distance while still maintaining comfort.
Woohoo dope video Benjie! Nice Bass and even better balance when you were fishing from the rock. I haven’t caught a Hali in the last 3 weeks. Can’t wait to get out this weekend coming up! I think legal size for bass is 14”. Have you ever done a catch and cook with a Barred Sand Bass? I heard they are good eating. 🤙⚡️🎣
Hey thanks jay!! The Hali gods are balancing you out after you took the biggest last month 🤣. But seriously congrats bro, you earned it and have clearly figured things out. Next ones coming soon for sure! Idk about sand bass but I know calicos are super slow to grow so I plan on letting em all go. And yes, 14” is legal....I know the 2nd one I caught here was legal, the first one was close but no measure on either of em. Didn’t want to wade back to shore and waste time 😜!
High risk high reward!
Yup. If there’s heavy structure but I think it’s holding fish and I think what I’m using will get bit, I’ll throw it every time!

Great video...Keep it up!

@@BenjieKimFishing Do you think my outfit is too light?

Benji. This is The kind of day I was talking about when we saw each other at Moonlight Beach. Slaying those fish with lucky craft!

Hey Benjie, what's a good depth of water for halibut? CSASTRONG
Just depends brotha, they can be at any depth. To get em on the 110 (unmodified), its best to target them in water columns around 5 feet or so.
I enjoy ur videos
New to fishing and using bait caster
What line weight do u use? And braid or mono? I can’t seem to cast more that 15 yards

Do you use the jig head instead of a dropshot because of the 'tricky' location that is catching your tackle?
Great vids!! Great info!! Great day!!
Incredible session! Thanks for all the tips!!
No no no, thank YOU for all the tips kind sir!!
Some really fun fishing right there! Great vid!
Hey thanks Adam, I appreciate it brotha!!
That second bass was a monster Benjie. Nice session!
Thanks bro, prolly not a legal but those grumps always feel twice their size!!
I just realized this was from a different video. Lol! I agree, that second one was pretty good (🤣🤣) and def legal...I’m guessing 16-17”
It looked at least 16 inches. Great catch!
Awesomen video man. I definitely want to get out and try some surf fishing one day.
Hey thanks so much John, anytime u wanna give it a shot, you know I’ll be down to shore pound with ya!
Digging the new logo bro. Congrats on the hali!
Thanks Jon, always grateful for you bro!!
its not listed but where do you find those clips that go between your leader and lure?! they look like mini paperclips lol
Those are tactical anglers clips. 50 lb. they make it easy to swap out lc’s. I believe you can get them from Amazon.
@@BenjieKimFishing hell yes found me some. thank you!
I lost one LC earlier throwing it around structures, But I got a 28’ with it tho. well worth it. Great vid as always👍🏻
Wooooo 28” is a great one Justin!! I’d say it’s worth the loss too. Still a bummer tho. But we can’t catch it we ain’t casting right?
Bro, great session!! Enjoyed all the great tips you provide throughout your video. Tight lines, see you out there brotha!
Thank you Gerry!!! Yes man, I look forward to our next session!
Great session in the surf~ way to go Benjie!!! jetty's been slow lately~ Always enjoy your trip~ Tight line brother~

Do you upgrade your hooks on the 110? What strength and size?
I use the stock hooks until I need to change them. When I do, I use Owner Stinger Treble ST-41 2x size 6.
Awesome! Where’s this at?
Thanks dylan! This is in SoCal bro!
