I have heard this song many times and love it a lot i know the sciptures say judge that ye be not judged, we are not eligible to judge because all of us are without sin,we are to reprove and rebuke as the bible says, now the bible says that satan is the accuser of the brethren and u believe sometimes doubt can try to come in the mind because a person's faith may not be strong in the scriptures there was a verse when someone said Lord i believe help thou my unbelief, every who receives salvation growth is not the same it depends on their faith, the teachings they are taught and their environment of people around them, the apostles had doubts in their minds although Jesus was with them that Jesus at one time said to them o ye of little faith, faith is something that grows according to you overcoming and pray life and believing the scriptures, this Christian walk is not easy so fear and doubt is always around but we have to rebuke these things not of God and rebuke satan and remind him that the blood of Jesus on the cross altar where Jesus was sacrificed, the blood poured out there speaks for us for all our sins and guilt.
This song is amazing!! It is more than just a "silly little song". I feel that many people need to re-evaluate their salvation and stop giving the devil so much control over their life. God Bless Alvin Martinez, may he continue to sing to the Lord. Blessing...
You gotta be kidding me....this is one of the reasons why I am beginning to despise the self- righteousness of most Fundamental Baptists......did you not get the message of the song about how we can remind the devil about how Jesus took us out of the miry clay, set our feet on a solid rock...bout to start preaching here now...!!!!
What a beautiful song! I just skipped the heresy and listened to the hymn. I can't believe someone would get all up-tight and picky about some words that may be slightly off-center. If you worry about these lyrics you'd probably have an issue with Amazing Grace, too! No man-made song is going to be perfect... the only perfect songs are found in Psalms, so chill and enjoy! And, BTW, how many souls have you lead to Christ this week? That should be the main issue, not scrutinizing songs...
@pilgrim7100 Even so, to believe on Christ has nothing to do with an altar call, which are not found in the New Testament, but essentially came about by the mourners bench first popularized by Charles Finney, which eventually developed into the modern day altar call seen today. Instead of taking it back to the altar call or to even when the person first confessed Christ, they should rather take it back to Christ and His Word, this is what the confidence should be in.
@jbooks888 I think you have misunderstood my remark. My understanding of seanpaynedotnet's purpose of posting this video was to highlight what he belives to be the danger of putting trust in an 'experience' as opposed to 'what saith the scriptures'. My remark was intended to ilustrate that I understand where he's coming form, but we must be careful ourselves not to overanalyze whatis basically a silly little song. Byt he way, we sing this song at our church, it's just not one of my favorites.
I would personally disagree with your view of the altar call. The altar call is a time when one who has heard the gospel message and believed comes forward to repent. He is not speaking of the altar call as assurance. He is, instead remembering that it was then that he believed the gospel and repented.
@av1611preacher The singer said he know he got saved... you are going to make a judgment and declare that he didn't? For this person, this was the time and place. Your condescending remark is unwarranted.
My friend, these are the types of things that turned a strong believer into nearly an athiest. I don't really try to get ppl saved or anything anymore so do what ya want but js people arguing over little shit like this and not being real was a big part of making me leave. You're hurting your religion 😂 dude read Paul's stuff about "GET YOUR HEAD OUT YO BUTT AND GET ALONG!"
Sean, you will have blood on your hands for driving men from Christ over things that are God's to use as he sees fit. I will have blood on mine for the men I've killed and those I didn't try to bring to Christ. But I'll also stop evil. You're turning people towards it. Time to judge ourselves.
Press 3 to get to the song :)

Though I agree with your overall sentiment, youre maybe over-thinking what is basically a silly little song
