Warm Colors Apiary received the 2018 “Local Hero Award” (farmer of the year) from CISA (Community Involved in Sustainable Agriculture) and a Congressional Award recognizing Warm Colors Apiary for our outstanding and invaluable service to the community from Congressman James McGovern. Bonita & I appreciate these honors from people and organizations we respect and support. CISA and Congressman McGovern promote nutrition, farms, and access to fresh foods for all Massachusetts residents. We share their philosophy that all people deserve fresh, nutritious food. We thank CISA and Congressman McGovern for their ongoing commitment to making local food available to all citizens.

Thanks for posting Chip, and thanks to Mr. Conlon. I run Russians exclusively. Like he said, they really aren't for everyone, but I have no plans to go back. There are pros and cons to each variety. These are mostly just nuances of the same management we apply to any bees.

Removal work full time since 2011. No treatments,no artificial diets, natural sz comb and work with local genetics for minimal seasonal attrition?
Many bees genetics now are completely past varroa with high resistance?

From what i understand....When a mite is bitten they generally don't heal.. its a death sentence for them.

This whole thing is just a commercial. I'm constantly listening for russian bee scientist professor Kashkovskiy (Кашковский). He was around bees and especially around russian bees for over seven decades now. He himself always treat bees for varroa mites and russian bees suffer from all of the bee diseases as any other breed. And they are mean bees. You don't want to keep those colonies in neighborhoods or around the kids

In my experience bees that are intensively fed artificial food & treatments are just vicious. Add large standard almost drone size worker comb and you'll have the nastiest mongrels you've ever met...
