I was raised evangelical. literally in middle school we were taught which types of people to target so that we could "spread the word". (still undoing all the issues that Christianity caused me 22 years later)
Yeah I understand that on a much less intense level, just raised christian without any extra pressure but my dad being a huge Jesus freak. Luckily when my parents split I lived with mom, and though she's christian she wanted us to believe what we wanted. It's still hard though since my old church guilt trips me every month or so for being agnostic, and I feel a lot of religious guilt. I respect everyone's beliefs though.

The title is more fitting than you realize. When I was still in the church and in Christian spaces, I heard so many people saying how Jesus owned them and how they deserved to be punished and all that manner of stuff. Not even joking, as an ex-believer and member of the kink community, a staggering amount of thought processes believers have is eerily similar to a toxic kink relationship.

Realising that Christianity was the biggest toxic relationship is one thing that helped pull me out of it😂 I was raised catholic, went to a catholic school filled with students from other Christian denominations. I was talking with a friend one day and mentioned how, no matter how hard I prayed, God always seemed so far away. She told me that, to her, God was like a best friend, husband, boyfriend etc. always close and willing to listen. Advices me to try seeing him that way. So I prayed harder, read my Bible, did everything to feel God’s love. It was during that process that it clicked in my head, ‘If God were human and he was acc my boyfriend, this would be such a toxic relationship’. It all went downhill after that💀

It blows my mind when people come into random college classes for any video content. That professor likely has their lecture completely mapped for the day, and an interruption like that can really throw them off. Also those students absolutely paid to be there. So wasting their time is wasting their money, and an interruption like that will take longer than the 2 minutes he claims to get back on track.
That's probably why so many college campuses require ID cards to enter classes (according to this guy idk I've never been to college)

I worked for years as a full time Pentecostal missionary before leaving the church altogether. Even in my missionary days, when spreading the gospel was literally my full time job, I would *never* have been as rude and inconsiderate as this kid. The only nice and accepting Christians I've talked to are my two online friends. They're Filipino and their parents run a massive church (not naming it since they're currently hiding in Japan cuz some ppl are coming after them for accepting lgbt's) They are genuinely the kindest people I've met, they didn't even mind when I told them I was atheist. And they never pushed their believes on me or told me I was going to hell. They have single handedly changed my view on Christians and Catholics

Most of us are trying to get closer to Him by emulating Him - with a spirit of humility, and love, and service. Please don't believe that this kid is what the average Christian is like. my family is christian but they taught me to respect every person , and just be a decent human being. im not really a religious person cuz ive had pretty bad experiences in my church and i just never truly was into christianity. ive met more good people as atheists then religious ones, most of the time people who were christians were always trying to force me to be in their religion and if i do not follow their beliefs im going to be sent to hell. i was A LITERAL KID!!! People who are fulfilled understand that there is no use in material gain because you can never have enough of it. Jesus was all about getting knowledge and truth, he was a skilled tradesman which was basically the highest form of education in his day. Regardless of gender or sexuality it’s definitely weird to teach a kid anything to do with straight or gay sex ed, I do see the case for only romantic relationships in books but I’m not sure if most “banned” books are like that. Homophobia sucks at the end of the day and I hate that we are “known” as homophobes to some people.

Christianity has gone to a very dark place in the past ten years. I was raised in it and have been moving closer and closer to atheism because of all the hate and rage that dominates the narrative.
As a Christian, the hate isn’t new. People just used to be quieter about it. There are churches out there that do things right but they are few and far between. I’m blessed to have found one or I wouldn’t be calling myself a “Christian” today despite my continued belief in God and Jesus

I grew up Baptist and was in private Baptist schools for 12 years. My best years were when I finally was able to go to public school. I felt free and not judged. The most judgemental people are religious people like this that “don’t judge”. I finally figured out I was queer and had to stay in the closet for the longest time in order to “fit in” in my school or I would get kicked out. Here I am today, thousands of my parents and other family members dollars down the drain because I no longer am Christian like my family pushed so hard for me to be. I don’t resent anybody that is Christian because of my religious trauma or beliefs but seeing stuff like this reminds me of what I went through. I feel for the people at that college because my family is a lot like that. I just feel embarrassed for him cause that stuff is insane

I’m a Christian, I believe that the love that my god has to offer shouldn’t be forced. The Bible even says it shouldn’t be forced. We shouldn’t even hate or judge people. “Christians” like these on the internet I believe need to work on their faith and work on their lives. But that’s just my opinion.
