“I guess for me, This Is What You Wanted, it’s quite an ambiguous track, but that for me, it’s quite a simple thing. It’s a song about not blaming other people for your own mistakes. I’m kind of talking to myself in this song. I’ve done that since Song To Say Goodbye, you know, from time to time, so I’m kind of having a dialogue with myself and I suppose what I’m saying to myself is just, you can’t blame other people for your choices, this is what you wanted.” - Brian Molko
Molko is a crazy genius artist, dont think so much over what he said. its like with the Pure moning, everybody misses this song, but he decided to cut it off, of personal
reasons.Molko is very special as he is, and i am so happy for he is here

@@romankore721 I think you are right. In the past Brian's voice was more "clear" , more "angry" , sometime with a "protesting" tone. Now his voice is more mature,calm with a story-telling feeling. Sorry for my english. :)

I feel sorry for people who haven’t discovered Placebo. Their music borders onto something spiritual almost. It reaches the soul, and comes from the soul. It sounds like the universe, it sounds like life and death and every emotion and experience in between thrown into some vibrations you can hear. It’s ethereal.

True. Totally agree. But I think you need to have that "inner ear" that allows you to go down into the soul of it. Allow yourself to be taken away. A big portion of people don't seem to have that ability, as far as I can tell. Many people are sort of casual about listening to music - even if they have favourites bands/songs it doesn't really mean anything, it doesn't have any depth to them.
I'm glad I have the ability, like you. It's cleansing. Not least because many of Placebo's older tracks tend to be melancholic and depressive, which appeals to me a lot. They pull me down as I lie listening for an hour, processing whatever stuff I need to process, and then I come out of it refreshed, always better than before I started listening.
On a sidenote I do think that Placebo's more recent albums have tended to gradually often become more upbeat than before. Even if the lyrics sometimes can be down, the beat can be up. I miss the melancholy. They're still the best though. Always will be. ;)

Placebo never fails on bringing the most emotional side of me.
When you are immature and vain, feeling insecure, only looking for getting things and being in bad situations for your temporary pleasure, but in the end you end up losing your one and only precious person, YOU. Then you put your mind into a cell and only YOU can get you out of there. You just don't need to panic... One day you'll get out of there and find a better version of you... Placebo ♥️

I am 62 and have been listening to Placebo for years also been lucky to see them 3 times, got my tickets booked for 22nd November. The new album is absolutely amazing, i keep finding new energy in the tracks each time I listen, but this is what you wanted is my wow track, just WOW. Thanks Placebo for giving me something to keep me going.
