What made All for One a better villain than Tomura was the fact that AFO loved to 'play with his food'. He would make multiple routes for one singular goal, and if one of those routes fails, he doesn't care. He'll just be like 'oh that didn't work out, oh well.' and move on. But what he will do is relish in any opportunity to play around with people for his own amusement. Tomura just embodies the cliché 'I want to destroy cause I'm evil' and its honestly tiring. Despite his complex backstory, he's a basic villain and its unfortunate that the author chose to specifically focus on him.
i feel like the episode where deku and the rest were in his presence for the first time and they were like "that mans spirit gave us hallucinations of death" along with this song, it just perfectly illustrates him
