What is the purpose of the Prescription Act? The Prescription Act, No. 68 of 1969 (Prescription Act) deals with the prescription of debt. Once the relevant time period has passed the debt is extinguished, unless prescription was interrupted. How does this fit into the law? 1. What type of debt it is? 2. How long is the applicable prescription period? 3. When did the prescription begin to run? 4. Was the prescription delayed or interrupted?
Isn't that why they are amending the law to include other alternatives such as email and cellphone apps? They have actually thought these things through with the new national aarto law. This time they really want people to pay them.
the only good rules they made was back in 1979 when they brought in the Health and Safety Act, the rules thye brought in can work but their problem is the money they keep on stealing,
You must pay because you broke the law of the road. The law is very clear that crying "what-about-ism" is never a valid defense. So the debacle around Phala Phala does not affect your own transgressions. Even if you were speeding but the car in front of you was going even faster, if they ignore the car in front of you but decided to stop you instead, you will not be allowed to cry "what about the other car you let go".
This is the same as the TV licenses. I bought a TV over 20 years ago. I mean the TV is no longer working but I'm still expected to pay for the license.
You can go have it cancelled. But If I recall correctly they will have to send an inspector to show up unannounced at your home to inspect every room to verify that you do no longer own any device that is capable of recieving tv signal (including dstv decoders or top boxes).
Mina I told them I no longer have a TV and told them I gave it to my mom and they asked for her number so to get her to pay ,I told them we don't have network in Limpopo and they never called again.hahaaha
Top Tip - some post offices are not fully connected to Natis, so they cannot look up outstanding fines. When you renew there they will issue you a renewal without a hitch.
@@martinbisschoff988 They do accept independent optometrist yes. I did mine this way in in 2019. At Randburg traffic department though. Not sure about Post Office
Hmmm ... yesterday I attempted to renew my car licence without success. First visit the wait/queue was too long. 2nd visit was at 2.45 pm and waited about 45 minutes to learn that I cannot renew my disk as I have not received a sms or email with reference number enabling me to be able to renew my car licence. I refused to fill out registration/ ownership papers as the department already has the information on file. Sadly, I returned home unable to renew and soon to be now driving illegally on the road owing to unnecessary red tape governing licence renewal. Note, I didn't have outstanding fines or other vehicles in my name that have judgements that would disallow me from renewing the disk. I'm elderly, I don't do online I simply wanna go to the nearest traffic office and continue to be legally on the road. Time has arrived for deregulation enabling motorists to go the nearest supermarket to renew vehicle licences.
You don't need any reference number they lied to you. But, you will have to fill in those forms to relicense, along with certified copies of proof of address and I.d.
The problem is when we are not notified of the fines. I recently found i have three fines dating back to 2019, in jhb. I have never received these fines. The licensing dept has my address details, an address at which I've resided for 25 years. There is no excuse for no notification. I have three vehicles in my name which I now can't renew my licences. There also seems to be no way of paying those fines online. The same applied in meyerton recently where I had to pay 8 fines totalling over R6000.00 , fines I had ZERO knowledge of. I seldom travel in meyerton but i acknowledged having travelled that particular back road (can't be certain of the dates 🤔). These fines dated to 2019/20 🤷🏻♂️🙆🏻♂️
So the taxi drivers are going to accumulate fines for the TAXI OWNERS and the leave to drive for someone else somewhere else. Expect UNLICENCED TAXI COMBIS and then TRAFFIC/ECONOMIC DISRUPTIONS of massive proportions should the government try to enforce the law. INSURANCE COMPANIES will be affected due to the many unlicensed vehicles that will flood our roads. Truck drivers will accumulate fines for TRUCK OWNERS. Think about the company vehicles, hired cars, etc. These fines will make many transport related businesses unsustainable. The ANC is brewing problems as usual. What a bunch of DESPICABLES.
Whilst the AARTO enforcement on inability to renew license due to outstanding fines is legal (according to the AARTO act), is it constitutional though? Is the act not pushing towards people driving without valid licenses. What happens if such a driver causes a serious accident, and it is found that their license is invalid? Is that consequential, given that driver’s license renewal does not retest driver competency, but simply a way for Gov to make money.
They said they turning off analog TV and everyone must get a government decoder... they approved fundings for this massive project that hasn't said anything since march this year

There are no post offices in my area to deliver a registered letter ! Hardly anything works with these anc dunces making rules that don't work !
it wouldnt show any evidence of existence anyways, just waits for 10billion from treasury, repeats strikes and parcel emptying
Stop talking Rubbish...Why worry if you never received a registered letter ?????

hhhe i agree,
I came trolling in the comments looking something I missed.
As for AARTO…there’s still a lot of grey areas with regarding this law😊
So, if you have not received a courtesy letter, it means that the enforcement order is illegal?
Not any wiser after this discussion.
I've renewed my license last month but I still haven't been notified to collect it 🙃
